The bassist is good but he's messing about with dynamics too much and you can barely hear what he's doing half the time. I wish I had those skills, i'd probbaly use them better... i can dream!... and practice lots :P

I agree... but I wonder if perhaps it's because the accompaniment is so soft in the mix and the lack of the bass part makes it sound wimpy. He's also not using the usual Cornfords..
