  • I have a 94 accord and three plugs are soaked in oil about how long did it take to do the job

  • @MrENGLISH91 45 minutes.

  • your video are cool

  • @12344richard Thanks- I'm glad you like them.

  • do u have any videos on buick vehicles? i have an australian GM holden (buick regal ) 94 3.8 ltr . i'm getting the harmonic balancer changed soon aswell as the drive belt with a major service. i don't really have the tools to do it myself. is there any other common problems to look for?

  • Man you have great videos. I just replaced my B-series tube seals... Too bad your not local man

  • Talks like he is a guest clown on the Bozo TV show

  • @Olddog231 Hey! Hey! Kids! lol.

  • Thanx , and like your personality :) Sall good.. Entertaining..

  • @MountStRobbie You're welcome- and thanks.

  • What is the exact part that I need to look up the torque specs for?

  • very nice! question, can this cause your Honda to stall? My 91 Honda accord is stalling when I drive, I decided to change the spark plugs and found them drowning in oil. Can this cause the vehicle to stall?

  • @melicahdavid If it misfires enough then yes it can.

  • Where do I need to go to look up the torque specs for the 12mm and 10mm bolts??

  • @Syrius187 Any manual, Alldata, On Demand 5, Motor, etc.

  • Don't take the bolts out of the thing that has the o-rings in it. I made that mistake. I flipped it over to take the o-rings out and the bolts fell out. When I picked the thing back up it fell apart and it was a nightmare to put it back together. (see 6:17)

  • Thanks it helped me out on my 98 civic dx. You da man!!!!

  • @Joondagoon1 Thanks- and you're welcome!

  • thanx for the video man!!! i was kinda going crazy in the back of my mind why it still leaks oil in there after ive changed the valve cover gasket 2 times already.

  • @kamilpolniak You're welcome!

  • I'm glad my 4 cylinder Chrysler engine doesn't use lower o-rings. It would be a bitch to remove and replace everything in the cold since I don't have space in the garage.

  • @IROCwarriorAMC88 I wasn't even trying for that. I was just trying to help people out.

  • i wish you would have put in what order you took out and replaced the bolts.

  • @philipearlwilliams The rule of thumb there is to pull the middle last and put the middle bolts in first.

  • @briansmobile1 thanks .. i just found a bolt Loosening Sequence chart .. starts from outside in as you say .. im getting ready to do this job on my '91 accord.

want to ask also about the cam .. it wont move out of time ?? all you do is lift the rockers (replace the Orings) and bolt them back on ?? sounds too easy .. will the car have to be retimed .. or have the valves readjusted ?

    thanks ~~

  • @philipearlwilliams If you do this carefully you won't have to re time it. Just make sure the cam stays where it is and you're OK. The timing belt holds one side down and prevents rotation. The distributor holds the other end down.

  • @briansmobile1 ok .. thanks alot .. im going to do it ..

  • @philipearlwilliams no, it will be just fine and stay in time. when you take that assembly off its just the rockers that flop back and forth, the camshaft wont move at all and you won't effect anything. if you go to about 4:45 and watch him pull it off, its just the rockers that will be effected.

  • @jsnyara Thanks for the reply ~~

  • Hi Brian, great vid as always! Got any good tips on how to break loose a crank bolt without the use of an impact wrench? My Honda is so old it doesn't even have the funky type of crankshaft pulley with the hex indentation that you can use a special tool on (I hope that last sentence made sense! LOL). My poor little 81 has probably never had her timing belt replaced and her belt's looking a little cracked...I'm pretty sure it's an interruption engine so I don't want to tempt fate!

  • @nightmathzombieethan It's a bit risky, but you can put a socket and breaker bar on the bolt (well supported and no slack counter clockwise direction) and crank the starter. The pulley rotates clockwise and will loosen the bolt by the starter turning the crank the other way. Scottykilmer has a video on it.

  • @briansmobile1 A little scary but cool! I know I won't be using my Snap-On sockets for THAT job! Thanks for the tip man and as always I appreciate your help and your vids, keep up the good work!

  • @nightmathzombieethan You're welcome. Ya it makes your sockets look like death.

  • after you put the new the new gaskets and everthing, do you need to measure the gap on the valve or you dont have too?

  • @xxlylexx14 If you torque it down properly it will be the same (bottoms out) but it wouldn't hurt to check them. Typically I don't though on something like this.

  • do you think if this was happening the check engine light would come on? i already know that i have this problem just wondering if i have more problems haha. also, once i do this what improvements to the way the car runs would i notice. thanks, great video. Dont forget to bring a towel!

  • @elementality2431 The oil in there makes the car misfire and the misfire will cause the check engine light to come on.

  • Thank you very much Brian for you very helpful tip. cheers :)

  • @richardallanjoseph You're welcome. Thanks for showing some appreciation.

  • Hey Brian, if your spark plug gasket are leaking, what are the effect of this in your engine?, Idling and emission wise? Please do help me here Brian. Thank you very much man. cheers

  • @richardallanjoseph You get high emissions of hydrocarbons Carbon Monoxide and rough idle and power loss.

  • @sorealbboy Thanks. Now that you say that, I think I will. ; )

  • That was actually very helpful it worked happy I didn't haf to replace my piston rings

  • @ograckdaddy92 Good deal. Way to go.

  • lol, love the south park quote!!

  • You did a great job; helps me understand my car better. Also you have character which made this video entertaining, well done thanks again!

  • @nativechrist Thanks and you're welcome!

  • Great video. and i appreciate the work you put in into making your video's. because it can't be easy having to film and give commentary while still trying to work on a car.. carry on the good work.

  • should change your oil more often in your other vehicles...

  • this is very easy to understand thanks man

  • @queenikraan Thank you and you're welcome!

  • great vid. what would a job like that cost a cust.?

  • @orville58 Depends if the wires are cleanable/reusable- these shouldn't have been, but I did anyway. I'd guess around $400 or so with all new tune up stuff etc.

  • here is some feedback, this was good. the only thing different that would make it better is if you had a flip out ironing board that came out of the wall to place the parts on.

  • @AdirondackNY Wow! That IS a good idea!

  • hi brian what type software you use to read the torque spec o what you recoment

    thank amigo

  • @1elAguila The best you can get (apparently) is Identifix. I've used Alldata and On Demand 5 for years. They're cheaper and get you by. You can Call Gary at Identifix and try it out. It's $99 a month for the first three months and $130ish/month after that. (I feel bad for juking him to ride dirt bikes so here's a plug for him) His number is (702)-547-2700 (Yesterday was his birthday!) Call him up and try it out!

  • Thank you!!

  • @500hpb20 You're welcome. Thanks for the thanks.

  • Please explain the not bending the valves part...

  • @500hpb20 If the adjuster screws are inside and not on top of the valve-- then when you tighten the valve train assembly they will expand and push the top of the valves away from the center of the cylinder head and the valves will bend outward. A tech I used to work with did that.

  • Thanks for the vid, i wish you had a tripod...

  • @jozzu That makes both of us!

  • loved the video I wish you could show putting the rtv on and where it goes you said it in the video but be great to show everything all the way to resembled.

    Keep up the great work.

  • @ncrdisabled I wish I had the time to do that. I'll see if I can "up" the detail a bit. Sometimes I get lazy because I've covered that in many other videos I've done in the past. (silicone)

  • If you were going for the induced motion-sickness effect, it just about worked (4:25 ish). Really though, good videos - keep 'em coming

  • @ndoorlag HA! HA! I try to keep them short and not have to edit. I tend to run out of time before the end of the day, but I'm still trying to help people out. (service is the key to a happy life and this is a great tool for that.) Thanks for your patience ; )

  • cool man thanks

  • @MPEREZZ143 You're welcome

  • you're in the Zone

  • Another great vid. The question from my kids is if you might be on drugs(they get a kick out of your funny voice talking) nntr, I told them that he has kids like their crazy dad(me) and goes nutty once in a while too :)

  • good vid. thx

  • Also think you can look at my video of my 2.2 cavalier knock/tapping and see what you think. Idk what it is though, its on my channel

  • my cavalier 2.2 has 340,000, but yours will probably catch up and past me when mine dies(dunno when, but it knocks from lots of runtime and its not a foreign motor.)

  • Another great one man!!

  • a nozzle brian its a freakin nozzle. me and my gf love your vids keep up the good work.

  • Man, you even have yer own brake lathe in there? Good lord, I want yer shop.

  • nice,so the distributor dont have to come off and can i make the bolts nice and snug.

  • @hp11208 The bolts on the distributor have to be LOOSE and the top bolt comes out, but it doesn't come all out. No.

  • I can't believe that you know Towelie. How's he been since his intervention? Great vid, love the humor you sneak in there. Make everything more enjoyable :) Laughter rocks.

  • Great vid. You kinda lost me on not bending the valves when you reinstall the valve train ???

  • @Bonfield2002 Thanks. I'll see about doing a video response and cover that.

  • "I have nothing left to say" at 2 minutes prior to the end of video :P

  • @polypolyman Sometimes I brain fart. lol

  • i have a 2000 voyager that has a tick noise that some days i hear and some days i don't do you think it could be a sticking lifter or one going out? thanks

  • @travis999 YES> it's a lifter. You can pull it out soak in it diesel gas and then reinstall it.

  • Good job love the vids

  • @o7powerwagon Thanks man. You're awesome!

  • Thx for the videos, Question PLS..I have ford Taurus 2003 my transmission leaking oil from the dipstick ,also I have slip gear when I start my car in the morning ...

  • @roro560v8 Problem one is an O-ring where the dipstick inserts. there's a tab higher up on the dipstick that bolts it in. Pull the bolt, wiggle/twist the tube up and out. You'll see the o-ring. You can then put a new one on and lube it up and reinstall, or clean and dry the old one and silicone it a little (permatex right stuff) and reinstall it. As for the slip of the starter bendix on ring gear. Shimming the starter may help. Otherwise you have to replace the ring gear.

  • Nice vid brian.

  • @CharlestownSolution Glad it did it for ya. ; )

  • Thx for the vid man. What do you call the second part you put on the ground (the thing that holds the rocker arms(i think it's called)?

  • @fooey88 I call it the valve train assembly. You may call it a thingamajig. In Spanish they call it the tree of lifting.
