They should've put more mics around the stadium. I was there and it was much louder than that. You can't even hear anyone laughing when he says anything but everyone was.
I was 7 in 1977 when my brother took me to my 1st Mets game against the Reds. Kiner was hanging around near the dugout and gave autographs to anyone and everyone - including me. I still have the ball that he, Felix Milan, Mazzilli, Doug Flynn and John Stearns signed.
That wasn't disrespect. They were stretching out before the game. Go to ANY baseball game and you'll see players who depend use their speed doing stretches and sprints in the outfield during pre-game ceremonies (all of these warm-ups pause for the national anthem).
Ralph knew what was going on. Besides all that BS, Ralph was addressing the fans and media, not the players.
