This song is lovely in all versions. French is probably my favorite, and then Spanish, but it´s lovely in all languages.

I don't like this version..For me the only one which deserves to be seen is the Italian one. The other versions don't express the pathos or beauty of the musical. It's obvious that the French version gives better the idea of the context, the period, and the book (because the original story was set in France), but I think the Italian one is the best.. Riccardo Cocciante is the singer who wrote it and I think that in Italian the way of acting and the words are amazing.

@perzekella91 Riccardo Cocciante only wrote the music, the original lyrics, the FRENCH ones, were written by Luc Plamondon, a French Canadian which is why the only version worth seeing is the FRENCH one...

If you haven't guessed by now I am getting increasingly annoyed each time somebody says, for any song, that the version is his/her own language is the best... A song in your native tongue will affect you emotionally than one in another so everyone will have a different opinion.

I can assure you that before expressing my critical opinion, i've seen all the versions, because i'm a big fan of this musical, . Although I liked the french one and the russian one really impressed me too, I can't help the fact the I prefer the italian one. we're free and we can say whatever we want, without giving offence to other. I like the English, French and even the verzion is not bad, but this musical is much higher and sublime in Italian, not only because the Italian language best expresses the idea of​pathos and love, but also for increased transport interpretation of the artists!

@feniceriascente Of all the version I listened to (French, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Polish, Korean, Dutch) I prefer the French version better for similar reasons than the ones you mentioned. I am sure that the fact that French is my mother tongue plays a part in my preference for the French version just like Italian being your mother tongue plays a part in your preference for the Italian version...

One reason for it is that I think the tone, pronounciations and emotions of French are very suitable in this rythm and this type of music, also the original story was written in French, so I think original tastes best right!! I prefer the French version.

I must say that I can't stand any other Quasimodo except Garou. I always get so angry when I hear ANY other guy singing this role !!

I LOVE this version, let them talk! I think this is one of the best casts. Garou, Bruno, Daniel, Steve and TINA!!

Don't get me wrong, I adore french version. But this is one of the most successfuly remaked versions... My opinion :)

I partially agrre with you about the french version. I've seen all the version and I think that the italian is by far the best for two reasons:

1) the language, even if I understand I can be suspected to force the judgement on the base of my origin

2) the acting. No other version is duly placed into a theater; they only have been sung
