@Ge0vone obviously you know nothing about subarus lol, cuz if you did, youd know equal length headers are ideal for big power, and maybe someone who owns a subaru wants to have big power, go back to your prius kid
Civic sounds like a vaccum cleaner. I like this EH sound thought its sounds less than a boxer. Matter of taste imho - there is no law saying that subaru has to have unequal headers...
Nice looking ass end on the car, and I like the sound. Looked it up because I just bought one of those headers and I was kind of worried, but this sets my mind at ease. Thanks. :) What turbo is on that and how is it so loud?
i defenitely dont like my equal lenght headers , i will change soon for unequal one , i dont adore honda its really not my kind of car but i asume : its sound a little like h22 on my car
What muffler is that? Im thinking about changing my gtspec uel's for el's and a more quiet exhaust..orange county sheriffs busted me with a jic spartan II which isnt even that loud at all.
i gotta a question to who ever know more about sti's. i just got a 2011 sti and iv been thing about putting on some header but not just any headers good ones. iv been looking at perrin headers. do they need to be tuned or can i just bolt on directly go? cus i read that anything u put on that has to be tuned will void the warrent? thanks
@jasminemyfirst ANYTHING you throw at it can & will void the warranty. Even if its spt. If its something they dont want to fix they will blame it on the mod. Want no warranty issues then leave it alone. A local exhaust shop can fab a good flowing/sounding exhaust for a fraction of cost. Add a cone air filter and call it good. Just yank both before any service visit. Any thing they dont want to fix they will blame on mods or abusive driveing. Beware.
@o0BoomSnapClap0o just because the s stands for subaru dosent mean it cant be used in a warranty denial issue. Subaru wants its dealers to stand behind spt parts and they should, but if push comes to shove you may very well need to find another dealership. Not only that, but just wait until the feds start jacking with the epa noise validity of dealer installed parts. Im sure the service dept at rootin tootin subaru of po-dunk california-vs-the united states goverment will go very well.
@o0BoomSnapClap0o You go argue with a roadside EPA inspection and see who wins junior. Subaru is in the buisness of selling not getting your arse out of a jam.
@o0BoomSnapClap0o Wrong, huh? Small print in the spt booklet: SOA reserves the right to CHANGE or WITHDRAW accesories at ANY time without prior notice and without INCURRING THE OBLIGATION to make changes to any accesories previously sold. Since the warranty is part of the part purchased insert the word warranty where Subaru says accesorie. Still dont get it? Your shit out of luck when ever we (SOA) decide. Dont take my word for it. Go drop a $100 bill for a real lawyer consult.
Yes 5-7 awhp PEAK. But it also gets over 15awhp across low-mid power range and it spools 600-900 rpm sooner depending on what gear I'm in. It's definitely worth it.
@u2m4r1n3 I wish i would have posted the sound of that car on here... i now have a 2000 model rs that i am doing a swap to. i guess when i put my EL header on my ej205 i will know the sound. Sorry
@atomicfire001 I don't know about that. The rally cars not only exhibit a nice "boxer burble" but they also create an obscene amount of torque, and are limited the 300hp. The being said, the unequal length headers are a better move as exhaust routing can be kept as short as possible, and turbo response is optimized. Equal length headers will help keep the cylinders more "uniform" but I think torque is optimized over cylinder uniformity. Anyone have a take on this???
@u2m4r1n3 I do know that the JDM Sti's use equal length headers, (some engines do anyways) but I think Prodrive uses unequal length headers on the WRC cars; I can't remember in all honesty; It's been a while since I've done any research. As far as sounding like a Civic, I remember SubieSport speaking about how unequal length headers sounding like a Honda, so to each his own I guess. Nice Pankration vid on you page by the way; you a fighter too?
@nonstophero0079 Prodrive WRC definitely does use EL, I've done my research too. It's more efficient considering they have a 34mm restrictor, so EL headers would just make sense. On top of that they run 8 injectors and 60 PSI, so they need massive airflow. I also have some pictures of the engines and headers, you can tell they are EL. Yeah I fight when I can, I was only able to train a total of about 5/6 weeks last year :\ work keeps me busy.
the cars turbo idiot of course you loose power with open headers. you dont spool without em. even if you were talking about headers as opposed to the stock manifold the turbo creates all the back pressure you need for the exhaust.
025chris025 this guy knows the deal the rest of you are retards. you loose the rumble due to the increase in the smoothness of the exhaust flow with equal length. your best bet is always a good protune with equal length an 93/e85.
@umak3m3g1ggl3 Depends on your goals and preferences. I personally like the speed at which the un-equal length headers spool the tubrine, as well as the additional torque created by the exhaust gasses leaving the cylinders in such a manner; I'm also not running time attack or drag racing either though; surely you know this, but for future readers, it's not about the cars' sound or how cool the mod is, it's about if it brings your car into being the optimal machine to help you in your endeavors.
you gain mid to high end power with equal length headers, but you lose the boxer rumble. some do it. some dont. if anything you could go with a larger diameter unequal length but you wouldnt get as much power tho.
so stupid you can create custom maps on an access port and tune just the same way has a protune you just need to find a good tuner so it shows you havent looked around at different methods you just go with the rest of the crowd protune opensource tactrix cobb all have the same abilities just need to find a tuner who knows what their doing for each
i have to say thats the stupidest comment ever!! and im guessing you dont know shit about cars cause the headers do alot for your car you get good power gains and the subarus mid and high end gain more which is what they need learn your shit
my tunner said so... i'l take his word for it lol...u go ahead and loose your boxer rumble and tell your self your gaining power for over $600 pos upgrade
wow shows you dont know shit you only lose your rumble if you get equal length and you get more of a rumble when their unequal. The Invidia WRX Exhaust Manifold has shown gains of 7.6 whp and 14.6 ft/lbs of torque gained on a stock WRX with no tuning! so you have a tuner that doesnt know shit which happens wait till her blows your shit haha good luck
yea where'd you get your #'s from? dont tell me the website lol...bs i'l skip the chrome beneath the engine & continue pumping with 93 octane to gain those 7.6hp i'l quot my tuner "Skip it for many reasons, some the same as most header as they will simply crack. Wrapping them will only speed this process up." lol i'l take the word of some one who eats and breaths data logging and e-flashing via open source tuning ....stick with your access port and cobb maps
Open headers= less power. There's no back pressure when you have no exhaust which causes you to lose power. Go throw your car on the dyno with the right headers that match your cams and see what kind of numbers you put down, then take your headers off and see how much power you lose.
not gonna lie...i enjoy the nice burble of an unequal length headered scoobie h4 than this...still sounds much better than a civic though thats fo sho
If you hear the scooby make a full throttle takeoff in third, youll hear it ant a civic. By the way, do you think the SWRT are gays ? They run equals aswell
sounds like my old k04 1.8t jetta... i like UN equal set ups much better, but i know the equal yeilds much greater power!! at least you put a quiet exhaust on it! nice car
I'm actually pleasantly surprised. The catted DP and hush catback must do a good job of making the car sound better IMO. It's a good combination, but I'm still a bigger fan of the unequal length as far as exhaust note is concerned. To each his own though and props to probably one of the best unequal length setups I've heard.
Sounds great! Function over form in my book!

It is no longer "STi". It was changed from "STi" too "STI" in 2006.
His car, his money, his way. Get your own STI and you can have a single exit exhaust.

@u2m4r1n3 "STI "only for press clippings, It still remains "STi" on the car.

@rawritsmat NEGATIVE. It is officially STI everywhere, there is no more STi; the STI symbol on the car is just that, a symbol.

@nonstophero0079
Yes, the WRC car does use EL headers. Their engine, turbo and exhaust is probably worth more than a new STI.
Not so much that it's the shortest route possible, just the smoothest route. Which is what you want when it enters the hot side of the turbo.
