The difference between Japanese and European cars are that while the latter try to promote their eye-catching appearance and edgy performance, the former are safer, more driver-friendly and comfortable, as well as not as costly to maintain. They are also the least glitchy, setting the Toyota recall aside. American cars have so much minor little annoying problems.

This car is a joke. Overpriced than the LS460 and SLOWER and with MARGINALLY BETTER FUEL ECONOMY (by 1-2 mpg) than the LS460. Lexus shows us again how they can hype up a car that underperforms, underdelivers and underwhelms.
Look at it this way. It's either the Lexus hybrid that gets 25 mpg and super ultra low emissions or a Mercedes S600 that gets 11 mpg and higher emissions.
I don't think that 25 mpg is good, but it is better than 11 mpg.
Global warming is just a way for people to make money, Gore to promote his book, and President Obama to screw the American people over. If that isn't it then please tell me what it is about.
@Lexlus42 first of all the mpg's have nothing to do with how good the car is for the environment, actually check around and you will see that the 600hl has the rating of SULEV(Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle) it's the CO2 expelled into the atmosphere that determines how environmentally friendly a car is, not how many miles per gallon it makes.
Is the Lexus LS as quiet and as comfortable as a Rolls Royce Phantom? I mean I know the first generation is really smooth, quiet and comfortable but is it the same for this one compared to the Phantom?
The Celsior/LS line was never designed to be a pure sports car like most of its Euro counterparts. It was always set to be that one luxury car that stands out with it's somewhat sporty look and feel.

Yesterday I rode in a buddy's ES300 as a passenger and that Camry on steroids broke down. Something was wrong with the fuel supply. Everyone always talks about how comfortable Lexus are - huh? This thing was so uncomfortable. I seriously felt I was sitting inside a Camry.

I've been looking at an LS600hL (mostly dreaming, since I just bought an IS250), and it would seem to be competition more for a Maybach 57 than an S550. I know 3 men in a position to buy Maybachs who passed on them (and RRs and Bentleys) because of the absurdly oversized engines. Their wives drive impractical 12 cylinder sports cars, and these men know (and do not want) the trouble those big engines cause. 600hL is already getting the smart money, because it's practical.
Yes, agreed that Lexus is the best. I've driven both a BMW and Mercedes and had nothing but problems, problems, and more problems. I bought a Lexus four years ago and it's been perfect. Japanese are the best. Period.

Oh and when MotorTrend put the LS600h against the S550 the hybrid system over heated. Oh and it got a whole 2mpg better than a S550. The new S400 Hybrid gets 23mpg city/34mpg hwy. Looks like this is gonna be bye bye to this heavy ass waste of money LS600h. Oh, and the S-Class out sells the LS too.. While it also out performs it.

A mafioso with an S550 recently told me what it takes to keep his car running, annually. The amount was absurd. When he had to replace just the windshield, I think it was around 3 grand. So apparently you're right. But aren't Lexus repairs expensive, too? I'm trading my IS before the warranty is up, because I DON'T want to find out.

So the comparison was done at high speeds, which is basically irrelevant, since hybrid owners drive very conservatively and carefully. The people I know who drive S-class Mercedes drive like lunatics. Hybrid owners drive pretty much as I do. Barring disaster (like the dissolution of our Republic), my next car will be the 600hL. My cousins are getting WAAAAY above official mileage on their Prius models. I average 30.7 in my non-hybrid IS250, & I expect to get spectacular mileage in my 600hL.

Funny thing is when MotorTrend tested the LS600h vs the S550 the Hybrid system in the Lexus over-heated and added 900lbs to the car. Good thing that the LS600h got 2mpg better than the S550. But good thing that Mercedes and BMW are going to use a Lithium battery that has the same power and life as the 8 batteries that take up almost all the space in the truck of the LS600h. Good job I guess.
I fail to see what makes the LS600h so "impressive". It's a gas guzzler that gets low emissions. And it doesn't compete with the S600 or A8 W12 because those cars are extremely low volume first of all and second, nobody buying an S600 gives a rats ass about fuel economy. Funny thing is all of you praise this fraud of a car while literally 8/10 automotive reviews in the US and Europe, Australia etc. have given the LS600h POOR MARKS for not delivering on promises and luxury as well.
Why should I drive a poser car? The LS460 literally gets the same fuel economy and doesn't pretend to be green like this failure. Lexus is a great at marketing, they have to be because nobody who stops and thinks how an overpowered and overweight car like this is supposed to be green would ever buy it. 8/10 reviews of the LS600h have been unfavorable. The only favorable reviews have come from Jewish journalists working for the NY Times or Wall Street Journal. Hmmmmm....how much did Lexus bribe?

Just a bigger version of 2007 Toyota Premio which costs 3 times less than Lexus LS 600h. Only things you get extra is a hybrid engine, slightly more innovative dashboard, back seat climate control and 13 inch of more space inside. If you have seen or driven both cars, you know what I mean!

That's a theory. I have a lexus and it all depends what road you're driving on. If you drive on newly contrusted roads, you're going to hear bumps (depends how much you're going to hear by the type of Lexus) Sedans usually get the most noise

A mafioso with an S550 recently told me what it takes to keep his car running, annually. The amount was absurd. When he had to replace just the windshield, I think it was around 3 grand. So apparently you're right. But aren't Lexus repairs expensive, too? I'm trading my IS before the warranty is up, because I DON'T want to find out.

mercedes used to be good until POS chrysler merged with them and mercedes started using chrysler parts and electronics...

So the comparison was done at high speeds, which is basically irrelevant, since hybrid owners drive very conservatively and carefully. The people I know who drive S-class Mercedes drive like lunatics. Hybrid owners drive pretty much as I do. Barring disaster (like the dissolution of our Republic), my next car will be the 600hL. My cousins are getting WAAAAY above official mileage on their Prius models. I average 30.7 in my non-hybrid IS250, & I expect to get spectacular mileage in my 600hL.

Can i just comment that LEXUS did not do this to make a green luxury car.
It was the lack of a V12 model in their LS range that made them do this.
The HYBRID powertrain offers more refinement than a conventional powered car.
This car also has more equipment than the MERCEDES S600, better build and quality and it also is cheaper to run and fuel.
And it is probably one of the cleanest luxury cars on sale despite being a top end autoobile designed to compete with top end mercedes-benz

Funny thing is when MotorTrend tested the LS600h vs the S550 the Hybrid system in the Lexus over-heated and added 900lbs to the car. Good thing that the LS600h got 2mpg better than the S550. But good thing that Mercedes and BMW are going to use a Lithium battery that has the same power and life as the 8 batteries that take up almost all the space in the truck of the LS600h. Good job I guess.

I fail to see what makes the LS600h so "impressive". It's a gas guzzler that gets low emissions. And it doesn't compete with the S600 or A8 W12 because those cars are extremely low volume first of all and second, nobody buying an S600 gives a rats ass about fuel economy. Funny thing is all of you praise this fraud of a car while literally 8/10 automotive reviews in the US and Europe, Australia etc. have given the LS600h POOR MARKS for not delivering on promises and luxury as well.

Why should I drive a poser car? The LS460 literally gets the same fuel economy and doesn't pretend to be green like this failure. Lexus is a great at marketing, they have to be because nobody who stops and thinks how an overpowered and overweight car like this is supposed to be green would ever buy it. 8/10 reviews of the LS600h have been unfavorable. The only favorable reviews have come from Jewish journalists working for the NY Times or Wall Street Journal. Hmmmmm....how much did Lexus bribe?

Dies spiegelt sich auch in sämtlichen Zufriedenheitsstudien wider. Ich selbst fuhr bereits einige Fabrikate. Einzig Honda und Toyota überzeugten mich durch erstklassige Verarbeitung und Zuverlässigkeit. Der LS ist für mich der Inbegriff in Sachen Luxus und automobiler Perfektion!

Just a bigger version of 2007 Toyota Premio which costs 3 times less than Lexus LS 600h. Only things you get extra is a hybrid engine, slightly more innovative dashboard, back seat climate control and 13 inch of more space inside. If you have seen or driven both cars, you know what I mean!

That's a theory. I have a lexus and it all depends what road you're driving on. If you drive on newly contrusted roads, you're going to hear bumps (depends how much you're going to hear by the type of Lexus) Sedans usually get the most noise

This car is incredible. I saw one at a car show and for some reason, it looks 10x better than the LS 460. I love the defined lines, the big wheels, and the huge 'L' logo on the front. This car is the best.
