I'm from Romania. Indeed there is a prelude to a tv series very similar to this one. Thus, revealing to us all that we are somehow related, and should party together like haidouks, whetter you are slav, latin, greek, muslim or orthodox.I don't give a rotten onion where this song originated. It's a folk song.Maybe it hasn't got any address!
@alakhazom I completely agree with you! This just sounds so typically Balkan, it is really hard to claim it for any country. Why not just agree that we share quite a bit of history and culture and stop arguing and fighting about stupid things? This is 21st century, friends! Lets enjoy the music together!
This song is great, but it does overcomes the fact that Bregovic's source is a Romanian song called "Fecioreasca de pe Mureş", played by Dumitru Farcaş. This song was the prelude for a TV show "Tezaur Folcloric"(Folkloric Thesaurus), a show in respect to traditional Romanian music. The show had it's first issue 29 years ago.
Regarding the "bloodline" of the song, the rhytm is closer to the music played in the north-west side of our country rather that to Bulgarian music, no offence , i love Bulgarian music but this has nothing to do with it or Serbian, also - i could find any similarities, if one can share a traditional song that comes close to that please do so.
Also, it has nothing to do with "10 prajini"unless they did as like Bregovic :)
With that i rest my case: almost every single individual who posted here deviated from the subject, this is about the music and it should not become a subject to personal injuries in the name of patriotism or personal approach to patriotism.
That is tipical Bulgarian dance caled HORO Specifically Danube horo & Romania is in other side on this river he is near to us but music is not the same.
I am Bulgarian and despite not being a specialist in folk music, this doesn't sound quite native - although it does have some similarities. So I tend to agree that it might be Romanian. However, as someone already said - music is music, it doesn't need need any labels - it should bring people together and not separate. I am proud to have Serbia and Romania as our neighbours - the Balkans are amazing, it's a shame that so few understand it.
@Chuckie771 : you right, the official soundtrack is called Bulgarian Dance, but there is a little mistake there. This song is, in fact, Romanian folklore. It is played live especially on the weddings in the moldavian province of Romania.
@AlSibsu hey you know what, it's Martian folklore man, from planet Mars. There is no Romanian state or Romanian nation before 19th century. Keep that in mind. Also check some medieval map and look how your territory is called.
@SyrexNoar ..There was no Bulgarian state before 19 century ..Modern Bulgarian state was established after russian -turkish war where romanian state had the desisieve role in c0nwuering Pleven..It is another thing that Bulgaria joined Turcey and Germany..in first world war one I do not have to excplaien what for you thet other main factror for Berlin threty..and since than Bulgaria stop excistste like stae ..Lost all creadibilt...Son of Gipsy bitch
@Chuckie771 The movie soundtrack is mistaken unfortunately. The song is a uptempo variation of ''Fecioreasca de pe Mures'', a Romanian folk dance from the Mures area. Hope this ends the debate.
@Ludichetnik : Chuckie's right. And, for your information, the movie is, indeed, Serbian, but the music is from all the Balkans, not only from Serbia. ;)
Hi! I'm from Bulgaria and I thing this is NOT bulgarian ...It's Balkan but not really bulgarian!!

It's very much like a romanian one, but I will call it Balkan music. Bregovic has proved enough that the music from Balkans is beyond nations.
