should could push off her back leg a lil more as well as get her backswing done quicker, he backswing should be done by the time the ball hits the ground on her side, that way should have the contact point further in front. pretty darn good though
Hi: Here is my 2-cents as a PTR pro. She has a very good backhand, but it can be improve to gain more power/penetration in my opinion.
She need to train to "swing" the hind leg around (as opposed to dragging or locking it behind the other leg) after contact and during follow-thru so that she would end up facing the net so to speak after the stroke. This will also save her some recovery time. Also, extension can be a little more out. All this adds a little more power and depth into the ball.
The problem is in the choice of grips, both hands are westerns, she takes all of her balls in a high hitting zone, if I coached her I would like to she her move to an eastern/eastern or semiwestern/eastern this would allow her to drop(break the wrists)racket head and drive up on the ball adding both power and topspin, See Serena, Sharapova and Venus go to USTA they have great videos of their strokes. I would like to see how she hits low balls, very hard with her grips

The stroke looks nice, but it's being performed at lower speed racket, she's not hitting the ball at full speed, thing is that's when the stroke starts to get "deformed" I'd like to see her hitting at full speed on her swing to see if she can keep the same nice form that she has on this video
Very good form - uses a strong backhand grip - excellent for offence hitting off the front foot - what about defensive backhand of the backfoot or when pulled wide? Remember Jim Courier?
She doesn't even look at the ball on contact with the racquet. Top pros always look at ball on contact esp. Federer who keeps looking at the contact point well and truly after the ball has left his racquet.
Top pros don't look at the ball like ribcat says, if you see still pictures of them in the moment of contact, it looks like they are always looking in front of the ball. I don't know about looking at the frame, never heard that before and I'm PTR Certified Pro.
Really? and yo know that because he's your friend and he told you...
It's humanly impossible to do that, but what do I know, I've been a pro for 10 years only. Done many USTA Sports Science Courses, USTA High Performance courses, and PTR Workshops. You probably know a lot more than me based on your experience. Oh, and I was 533 in the world... you?
4 ways the arms can be on a 2 hand bh. in fact agassi was more on the rare side because his rt. arm elbow extended out like a 1 hand bh. most keep the right elbow close to the chest. dementieva is even more unique with double bend elbows. jennie elie is a very nice girl and talented player. she is a friend of my ex player jamea. i met jenn, funny and good, good luck to junnie
if u look@best backhands in the world.thay have straight arms at the back and straight arms on contact.. Chela is bent on take back, however hewitt is straighter on take back..look at agassi bachand.technique is important as it usually wont break down under pressure..williams sisters have ugly technique, however are extremely good athletes..needs a good coach, trainer&massage therapist2take her up the rankings.has2 have the cash2invest or be in a squad.. + who wants to travel35wks on the tour
Good racquet head acceleration and forward movement through the stroke. Good footwork and movement.
I would, however, speculate some inconsistency on this stroke because her point of contact is not out in front of her body. She would do well to dip her head (very) slightly at the point of contact to ensure she sees the ball hit her strings, and force her to hit a little more in front of her. This will improve both power and consistency.
I think the inconsistency is not caused by the contact point (as different kinetic chains/grips) will cause the contact point to vary front to back a bit...
The inconsistency, I know, is that this girl lacks mental toughness, probably a source deep down causing this....I've seen her matches before.
Please leave your comments. Jennifer is high level tour player and has strokes comparable to many top 200 players. What I have gotten from my analysis is her backhand could improve if she woul learn to adjust by dropping the racket head a little more before contact and coming over the ball with the face to add a little bit of variation and spin

this is stupid, federer's a top pro (thats obvious), and he LOOKS AT the ball when the racket makes contact wif it.

i think thats her aim in this practice.

@VitualTennis nah u suck. If she hits consistently like that then leave it. Topspin is an accessory to help consistency.
