ROMAN, you need to understand that MOST African-AMERICANS are an amalganation of several ethnic groups. Due to the slave trade, wars, subsequent conquest, etc MOST African-Americans have some, albeit maybe not in some instances, acertainable amounts of Native American blood. That said, there are lots of African-Americans who have Irish heritage.

My Irish friend at college often made endearing jokes about Obama's last name by spelling it "O'Bama" or calling him "Barry O'Bama". Lol. But it is true that Obama has Irish roots on his mother's side and Luo Kenan roots on his father's side. Then he has a half-Asian half-sister and godparents and black and white cousins.
I think it's wonderful because it's like he's a representative of the multiethnic nature of America wrapped into one man. All he needs now is some Latino and Arab relatives.

there are many many many native/ asian/ latino folks i know who are 5th generation and have NEVER been exposed to their heritage. doesnt mean they cant "embrace" it.

So? It does not matter. His ancestor is from there! That is one of his descendants. Don't you understand? He can proudly embrace his Irish culture whenever he fucking wants. He can claim it also. No matter what you say. Still does not remove his Irish blood. And it still does not remove the fact that he can embrace part of his culture.

Actually Judaism is passed (although you can convert) down through the family, that is why they are a race.

Yes, Jewish identity is passed through the MOTHER. Anybody can become a Jew through a conversion. But even though Jewish identity is passed through the mother, you are no longer a Jew if you, lets say start practicing Christianity. But that can't happen to another race. You can't stop being black if you hang around a lot of white people. Being a Jew is ethnoreligious at best. Not a race.

Well, I'm not incorrect in saying that the Irish are Jewish as the etymology of the word Jew comes from the land of Judah and the eponymous tribe and son of Jacob. Since the Gaelic race is descended from Zarah, son of Judah, we are partially Jewish by the best definition of the word.
Besides, it is acceptable to claim something as your heritage if you were raised under that culture. Obama was not raised by Irish cultural values and traditions. His genealogical claim is weak at best. Poseur.

And Obama wasn't raised in a home with Irish Cultural emphasis. He is a poseur. He's not Irish, and any claim otherwise is bullshit. He was raised by his psychotic mother and then by his grandmother. He never even met his Irish relative that he's supposed to take his "Irishness" from.

But that's ridiculous. I have no link to Jewish culture whatsoever. Barack Obama had no link to Irish culture. While blood does account for something, 3% isn't nearly enough to make up for the fact that Obama wouldn't know something Irish if it smacked him upside the head.
As it stands, he's a chameleon. He'll claim to be anything if he thought it would increase his constituency. What better way to attract kids of Irish Catholic Conservatives than to tell the World you are Irish?

So you can embrace it. Key word embrace. If its part of your bloodline its enough. So black people never been to Africa, and their greats are from there. That doesn't mean they can not embrace their African culture.I bet he's been in Ireland a lot of times, and they love him over there. Stop trying to tell other peoples identity.
