@TheTonganMammoth You're saying that anyone who "knows stuff about muscles" know to only train 3 days a week, however Rippetoe says you can train much more than thatin his book Practical Programming. Unless you're a novice, then I guess you should stick to those 3 days ;)

@89satty Those are sumo parallel good mornings. He basicly gave up on 50% of full squat movement. Why? Fear of hole? That in fact he has to drop huge amount of weight to be able to get out of the hole. Would you like to see a real squat? Than go watch any olympic weightlifter. Ass to grass. This is some kind of hybrid for non flexible lazy lifters who are affraid of hole.
@m5p944 I disagree, olympic squatters(specialist field) go atg because they HAVE to, due to extreme weight forcing one down there during c and j. Parallel is the strongest and most stable point of the knee arc of movement. Going beyond that or atg, especially with heavy weight and the added momentum that is usually associated with that is only adding more stress to the knee joint due to the knee structures friction actually helping to stop the weight thus adding more risk with limited reward.
haha, are you fucking serious. Do you even know how a knee works? As someone else already stated, not even worth discussing, you are lost.
I'll try anyway, I am a nice guy. Rip hasn't flexibel hamstrings, but he goes below parallel. If you stop at paralell while your hamstring flexibility can go further than you put a LOT of tension on your tendons/knees, NOT on your muscles.
Most people can't even go to ATG, only those trained in flexibility, like olympic lifters.
@DjiEnn What I'm talking about is when one goes ATG and bounces in that position like an olympic lifter. I've never seen anyone stop a c and j and parallel. My point is that going atg with momentum is risky. So calm your ass down. I don't do the internet tango shit.

@m5p944 What you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this thread is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
rip is not doing half squats. his legs are bulky making it look like a half squat. thats why gaining weight is great for squatting. it makes ROM less.
@McLovindk 9 times out of 10 the best coaches are the ones who cannot perform their movements properly. There is a difference between inflective and reflective pedagogy. Now let's see your squat video.
@Rattattattatt "she" is the person who posted this video (that is the encouraging voice). "She" would destroy your weak vegan-azz if you attempted to strike at her carnivorous person.
It's because he knows about weightlifting that he looks where he does--his entire spine is aligned correctly. He has made his case: Read his writings on this point, which proceed from anatomical and biophysical rationale, then make your argument from similar rationale if your disagree.
I don' understand how he can know so much about weightlifting but looks down on squats is he doing it to make it harder because you are suppose to look slightly up when squatting not doing so is how you get stuck?
He should be using collars on the bar. I also think he would be better served by doing hack squats and leg extensions because it would develop his quads more. He might also want to skip the leg work altogether and just spend time flexing his quads in the mirror. That'll really get him tan and cut.
@fatcat669 Your so right! Some guy who's a personal trainer douche at my gym came up to me when i was squatting and said I was squatting too deep lol!
