  • @m5p944 I disagree, olympic squatters(specialist field) go atg because they HAVE to, due to extreme weight forcing one down there during c and j. Parallel is the strongest and most stable point of the knee arc of movement. Going beyond that or atg, especially with heavy weight and the added momentum that is usually associated with that is only adding more stress to the knee joint due to the knee structures friction actually helping to stop the weight thus adding more risk with limited reward.

    I'll try anyway, I am a nice guy. Rip hasn't flexibel hamstrings, but he goes below parallel. If you stop at paralell while your hamstring flexibility can go further than you put a LOT of tension on your tendons/knees, NOT on your muscles.

    Most people can't even go to ATG, only those trained in flexibility, like olympic lifters.

  • rip is not doing half squats. his legs are bulky making it look like a half squat.  thats why gaining weight is great for squatting. it makes ROM less.

  • He should be using collars on the bar. I also think he would be better served by doing hack squats and leg extensions because it would develop his quads more. He might also want to skip the leg work altogether and just spend time flexing his quads in the mirror. That'll really get him tan and cut.
