ok ive got a roccat kave 5.1 headset.

everything is ok. but when i check the option for rear pair. the rear speakers dont make a sound.

when i tone down the rear speaker volume my right front speaker goes down with it.

i have updated the drivers.

i have plugged all the right colors in place.

is there anything i can do?

it all startet with the roccat kova mouse for me, i was so blown by the quality of the mouse that i startet buying more roccat equipment instead of that overrated expensive razer crap... and roccat really delivers great quality for a fair price, tried this headset at at friends house and imidiatly got me one on ebay its fantastic!

@AnteroX1234 i am very pleased with them, the mouse vis still working and looking like it was its first day. only the headsets mic once broke right after i got the headset since there were some issues withz the first generation of microphones. i contacted roccat and they sent me a new mic within 4 or 5 days also got me the isku keyboard ölately, gotta say i am very pleased with their items, personally i think the quality is way better than other big brands like razor

I have a question about Roccat Kave 5.1 Headset?

You have to plug in a USB just for power and there an extra 4 wires to plug in but my PC doesn't have 4 of them wire slots. Is there a place where I can buy a USB thing that has the 4 slots? Plz send me the link if possible. Thanks.

By the way I have Realtek High Definition audio sound card which I think it supports surround sound 5.1. If there's no USB thing to put in the 4 wires then can I just put in the USB?

@1991ENIGMA Hi, i sorted the static problem by installing a soundcard (it seems the onboard 5.1 sound on my mobo was poor) as for noticing the surround....i kinda notice it but it seems 5.1 surround dont use rear speakers, just side surround,so its hard to tell where some noises are coming from, but i do hear alot more playing black ops/bbc2.

I dont sponser this company in any way just love their product.

I find the Roccat packaging is a lot like Razer packaging, which I like, and I have yet to be let down.

Adjustment/Headband: The headset is high quality but also very heavy; I got used to it after a few weeks. I had the headset too tight to start of with which caused pain to the top of my head; I adjusted the headband scale from 5 to 6 which helped. The Equal Weight Distribution system doesn't work as well as I would have liked; the middle pad makes good contact with my head but the side pads don't; I move the headset around or take a 5-10 minute break every hour or so to avoid the pain. Ouch! :(

@pakaustar The headset will work by just plugging in the USB and the green connector, but you won't have true 5.1 surround. You really need a discrete audio card and/or high quality onboard audio to use the Roccat to its fullest.

I'm planning to buy this and I'm rather doubting. Why? I can't seem to know what my sound system is, if it's either a 2.1, a 3.1, etc.

I do have a Realtek HD Audio output enlisted on the Sound tab at the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. I don't know if it can support the 5.1 surround sound.

Please help! :) If all else fails, then off I go saving again for that really freakin' expensive Beats by Dr. Dre Studio headsets! xD

@kfeobaby It's is wonderful in every way...the only negative is that the headset is really heavy and even though it looks like it is padded well, it hurts the head after wearing for a while. I have to adjust where it's sitting on my head for it to stay comfortable.

@Trubyd44 very true, have the same problem myself, i use trimmers to cut my hair short and i find this headset after a hour or two it becomes uncomfortable, im thinking of putting some suitable foam in between the gaps of the padding to help the headset spread its weight, as it is the hollow parts between the padding dont help imo.

No, it shouldn't be necessary.  Plug the pink colored mini-jack into the mic connection on your sound card.

I understand your comment...but that is why they are called unboxings...and not reviews.  Sometimes before I buy something I want to see closeups of the device and what actually comes in the box. These 'unboxing' videos mostly focus on build quality and components. The box is really irrelevant --as you say. I plan on doing a review about functionality later.

@rayman85corr Yeah, they are awesome for positional sound. You can tell a discrete difference between rear and frontal sounds. I definately recommend them. They are heavy, and even though they are padded well...the top of my head does seem to hurt after a while at playing games. A quick repositioning of them helps, but doesn't cure the problem. Everything else is perfect.
