I had a marching band competition earlier today, and we were walking out to the field in long rows of two. We were walking past another band, when all of a sudden two of their saxophone players started playing this with harmony and everything. It totally made my day, because I knew there were other nerds out there who had the distinct feeling that we were nervous little first years on our way to be sorted.
Me and my friend were just searching for some good movie themes on spotify when we suddenly realised that they all had one thing in common. They were all made by stanley Myers.
@staycute4187 In the second movie where harry fights malfoy in a quidditch-match and is being chased by that large, heavy ball (forgot its name) that is trying to throw him of his broomstick. Hope it helped.
im playing this for solo and ensemble in a woodwind choir ^.^ as a band geek obsessed with harry potter since third grade, i was so excited when my director announced we were playing something from harry potter :D
You would spend all your Gold for immortality if it could offer either. It is mearly a token of true love of spirit passed on to guide. That is the beauty of it not in riches or magickal promise but in sentiment & lack of worldly monetary significance.
Or shall I say PERFECT Assholes? More fitting perhaps. The riddle of stryder tells us all that glitters is not gold. Significance is in personal momento. $ can not buy what has emotional or sacred significance. Please learn the difference....
@Nytheria22-its not its legendary ability to grant eternal life & riches. You can't have both, nothing is perfect or we would have imperfect assholes. The gold in it is at my time of need feeling closer to Nicholas Flamel to guide me. The stone itself is nothing but sacred love & protection. It has sentimental value & would jinx the unpure heart.
@Nytheria22-its the same stone & doesn't contradict itself! Nor was it Red.....lmfao
Since when is alchemy not a magical spell? Unless its not herbs but magical chemistry? If Dumbledore posted your message I'd kill myself...just a footnote!
The names Philosopher's Stone & Sorcerer's Stone were interchangable. I think it depends on if you consider Nostradamus to be a Philosopher or Sorcerer. It was just more common place for the Brits to say Philosopher's Stone its merely a preference much like their terminology & slang really.
@Underworldisis1 Actually "Philosopher's Stone" refers to alchemy and equivalent exchange, whereas "Sorcerer's Stone" is associated with magic, spells, etc.
I wish most of these songs were on smart music... Its this program that my band uses to record at home :D and they have sheet music for.... Double Trouble, Fireworks, Fawkes the Phoenix, Nimbus 2000, Hogwarts March, Hogwarts Hymn, Professor Umbridge (which was stuck in my head all day), Harry's Wondrous World, Hedwig's Theme... I think there's a few more. And I play clarinet :D But yeah. Fireworks is insanely fastt and I can't play it yet ><
They never dropped Hedwig's Theme, if you listen, it's in all of them, but I'm not sure about the fifth. Because it's definately in the menu screen in movies 1-4.
I like the changes, it adds more strings to the music, and makes me very happy. I play the violin, so I'm string obsessed. :) Yes, I don't see why they couldn't put it in the sequences either.
i think the change is appropriote because of the more darker films. do you know what the name is of that sad/happy song that plays at the end of chamber of secrets? that is all rejoiceful
xD I don't think it's because Americans just want to change everything. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that they changed the name because in Europe, a philospher is not just a great thinker, but deals with alchemy as well. In America, a philospher has nothing to do with alchemy, so they changed it to 'sorcerer'.
Anyway, I don't know why I wrote that it has nothing to do with the music haha.
it's adventurous and scary, perfect for quintich(i dont know how to write it)
tip: the book| movie it called hp and the philosopher stone not sorcerer. rowling's oficial is philosopher, but americans want to be in everything involved- sometimes is not bad, but this is a creation from united kingdom, from europe
I'm fairly certain this is in both Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets. It plays when he is on his Nimbus as far as I remember, not when he gets it. but it might play at both times. Either way I love it!
I think the last time I hear it in a movie was a the end of Prisoner of Azkaban when Harry tries out his Firebolt, coincidently (or not) that was also the last film to be scored by John Williams
Yeah it's in both movies, it appears in the first when Neville Longbottom flies around on the broom and makes a brief appearence at the end of the third movie when Harry first gets his new broom.
americans call it sorceror's stone for some reason, cause we have to do everything differently. I regret calling it that, but I'm just too used to it!!

they've changed it. it's still good but it's only in the title and in a few parts of the films in 4-6.
And i don;t see why they couldn't put the nimbus2000 theme in the broomstick sequences

It's either Reunion of Friends, or Harry's Wonderous World (Chamber of Secrets version), and I know that both are on ITunes.

@delmago1 i think they got a new conductor or something after the second movie, so they might have not been allowed to use the songs. idk.
