  • going to try this recipe! I'm in college and it's hard to cook healthy, but this looks so simple! Thanks

    p.s I LOVE PG tips :)

  • @meekahmee123 Hi! Oh, thank-you for your kind comments. I remember being in college. All the fears about studying and deadlines looming. It does certainly make it hard to eat healthy. I hope my little video comes in handy and makes your life a little simpler. Health and happiness to you! Brian.

  • I enjoyed your video. I am 68 years old and today is only my third day of eating as a vegan. I like the idea of using the rice cooker for more than just cooking rice. I also like the idea of cooking only once a day. Thank you for your informative video.

  • @TheTexasbuddy Hi, I've had several people mention that they don't want to cook more than once (me too by the way). I generally cook once in the morning, eat one meal and store two more in tupperware to re-heat later. Seems to work! My criteria are: It must be simple and easy, natural and healthy, and just tasty enough to eat. Cheers, Brian.

  • I've recently been experimenting with cheap healthy meals, and came up with the concept of steaming a different pulse, split peas.

For all my google searches, you're the only other person I've seen who steams pulses. I'm curious, how long have you been making this dish? Are we the only two people (three, counting mitm19) who know about this?

  • Yes, I think there are only 3 of us now! Keepers of the secret knowledge regarding steaming pulses. Carefull, don't tell anyone will you? hehe! ; )

Yes, in my case, I started combining things in the rice cooker a couple years ago. (out of sheer laziness I suppose) The problem for me was realizing that everything needed a different amount of cooking time.

Aside-I see you are a fan of MST! hehe! me too! Brian.

  • Thanks for the video, I make something similar to this all the time. I found that I can cook both brown rice and lentils just by dumping them in the rice cooker and using the brown rice mode on my cooker gets them to turn out perfectly. It doesn't work as you mentioned if you use a basic cooker or the "quick" cycle on a multi-mode cooker. I don't know if its vegan, but I like to use taco powder to season it and throw it in a tortilla. Thanks again

  • Yuuuummm. Taco Powder sounds Delicious! Good suggestion.

    Thank-You!

    Brian.

  • awesome. keep the cooking videos coming.

  • Hi "Winkie" ! : )

Thank-You so very much! I'll do my best, because I think eating healthy and vegan is soooo important!

    Brian.
