i could see the Iria anime becoming a successful game in this day and age.. seeing as how games like halo and whatnot really profit in the 'shooting' bussiness, as wel as the Iria fiction surounding a futuristic world with advanced technology.. i mean really, the anime had some good story to it, add that to the game and you got yourself a winner
@ichibanhahn Halo's reputation as a derivative first-person shooter whose only claim to fame was good gamepad controls, recharging energy shields and a two-weapon limit is actually kind of unfair when you consider that the game went through multiple genre shifts throughout its development. At varying times, it was an on-rails shooter, a real-time strategy game, and even a third-person shooter with a focus on Tribes-esque large-scale multiplayer matches. FPS was settled on late in development.
@ichibanhahn I agree, though. We need more shooters/action-adventure games with badass chicks in the lead role. Samus Aran was the definitive example of such a character for quite a while, but then Lara Croft came along and stole her role as the face of female characters in action games. And now, it looks like they're dumbing down Lara's combat abilities and acrobatics to cater to the Uncharted/Resident Evil set. For shame.
@ichibanhahn Actually, come to think of it, the first time I saw Iria was in that short fan-made 3D film "The Hunter" where she utterly bitch-slapped Lara Croft. That was Haloid before Haloid even existed, LOL.
We need remakes of HYPER IRIA and GUNNM: Martian Memory to amp up the badass quotient of female protagonists in video games.
@FighterO21 How could I forget Oni? We need a sequel of that one, too. Unfortunately, Take-Two own the rights to it right now, I think. Bungie has some serious cash in their pockets right now, with the prospect of making even more off of this 10-year publishing deal with Activision. Maybe once that's done, they can buy back the rights to Oni and give us a sequel. Alternatively, Take-Two subsidiary Rockstar could do one using their stellar RAGE engine. They're already giving Max Payne 3 a go.
this is a GREAT movie, and a pretty decent game. i never played all the way through it, but i played at least as far as this level because i remember it. i got maybe 5 levels in..
