Good movie. Made you really think about touching anyone. Realistic in that I ve personally seen chefs go out and touch peoples food by hand and glad hand VIPs just after handling raw pork and raw chicken. I got sick once from a chefs dinner due to unclean pork and unclean knives to cut the pork. This movies show when people are faced with survival, its screw you, I am going first. STOP SAYING THIS IS A PIECE OF SHIT ! my dad is an epidemiologist (a specialist in that business) and that is exactly how it will happen. the end of the world won't be because of a giant earthquake or whatever the fuck 2012 said, it will be because of an epidemic like the one in contagion. the book, which i read and is an amazing piece of literature, was written by a doctor who knows what he's saying. it's sad to say that unfortunately, people who say this movie is a piece of shit...don't. :)
How much were the critics paid to give good reviews this clunker? Saw first showing and was very disappointed. If you're unfamiliar with of the concept of a pandemic you might find some value in it, but documentaries on TV have done a much better job. Main characters who walk around most of the time without masks or gloves??? Jeeze. Flat performances and slick 'hollywood' production that glosses over the true horror, violence and social breakdown that would happen. Two thumbs down - save your $
The problem with these type of movies is that the period from exposure to infection to death is way too quick.
It's one thing for a virus to kill you quickly after you show symptoms - by then it's mostly too late. But if it killed the host within hours/ minutes of infection, it wouldn't cause a epidemic/ pandemic simply because the host would be dead before the virus was spread around. It would need a long undetected incubation period for you to drive/ fly to other areas, THEN kill you quickly
