It's a car I couldn't ignore. I bought one.

and no it didn't make the top 10 but it won North American car of the year and JD Powers highest in initial quality for a car in it's class. Drive it and you will want it.

ur right the Malibu did not make the TOP TEN best quality list of Consumer reports Oct 2008 data w/c gathers data from "real" consumers.

the 11th on the list was a Ford on Top was Scion[Toyota] Honda, Acura, Lexus etc.

What's really funny is that the car she ran into was a 1997-1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass... essentially a Malibu of the same generation.

The Oldsmobile Cutlass had a split grille. The Malibu did not. Other than that, the vehicles were pretty much identical.

But the car in the ad is an Oldsmobile. I think you were mistaken about that, and mistaken about my mom... she doesn't sleep with trolls.

Toyota's commercials lately in their "looking for a reason to buy a Toyota" have primarily featured american cars being destroyed.

Chevy should have used a 1997 Camry. I used to drive one...decent car, but oh so bland (and slow).  My Camry was tan, too, so it was really invisible.
