She was sixteen at the time of Wiz, and her developments were a big problem. So, yes, they were bound. Dorothy, after all, is only ten in the book.
She was given pills to sleep and then when she woke up she was given pills to wake up so she wasnt groggy at 5am when she had to get her makeup done and to get her through the day. It was horrible actually. Sometime in the 1950's she was taken to the hospital and her liver was 4x the size of a normal one. She never could stop taking the pills, it was part of her life. Doctors had given them to her since she was a teenager. She did at one point throw her pills in the East river

@MissAVuk As far as I know (based off of a documentary I once watched about her) her drug addiction came as a result of the pills they had her during filming. However, I'm not sure they were to make her seem younger. They did give actors pills to wake them up so they could work late at nights and on very little sleep, then they would give them pills to offset the 'perky' pills so they could sleep for a few hours. This cycle is most likely what led to her addictions.
@MissAVuk She actually was. Not as a drug addiction but she was told that she was too fat and ugly so they gave her pills and such to make her more "pretty". In reality she was gorgeous just slightly chubby so the abuse wasn't necessary.
@catylaloca You do realise that Andrew Lloyd Webber isnt just 'music' he knows acting too! He is probably one of the most famous names in Musical Theatre and knows his stuff!! Your comment is hillarious how you dont think his 'thing' is acting!!

It did come later, but Judy was indeed made to look younger. They bound her breasts to make her look more flat-chested and it was really painful.

MGM gave her separate drugs, some to wake her up, some to put her to bed and some to help her lose weight all during the filming of 'Oz'.
