Just heard a song along the same lines as this video its by the Irish singer Curtis Magee and is titled PADDY Have a listen probably get it on youtube .
Lovely - I love hearing personal accounts, and the way you've presented it is a great way to bring the stories of the older generations to the younger generations. By the way, I came to this video from a post on Facebook (go social media!).
I went to IRELAND in 1960 to valentia island and went to a dance where the boys were on the left and the girls on the right the boys waited outside for a while I could not understand what was going on Well we finaly went in and i got to dance with an Irish girl and was swinging he round and round When the biggest irishman you would ever wish to see came up to me and said Be carefful with my sister i said i will i will then he went off and danced with the wife . vic uk.
What a lovely little film im 72 now and remember these boys who built our roads and many other things and how hard they worked the irish men i talk of were the ones that worked around Harlow new town essex
Priceless footage meshed in nicely with the animation. A nod to our emigrant past and perhaps future too. Well done, it's the featured vid on Letterkenny.INFO 's YouTube channel this month
@letterkennyinfo Thanks so much. We're looking for as many views as we can get by 25th November for the Regional Cultural Centre's 'sharing stories' challenge
beautiful piece, really enjoyable to watch and leaves you wanting to hear more of your grandfather and family. I just knew that Joleen was playing on the s/track, unmistakably her. best of luck with the competition. Caitriona
