Michel Gondry is a genius that no one knows about. It makes me sad that Michel makes such beautiful and wonderful videos and movies, yet I am the only one in my town who knows that he was the man behind Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Science of Sleep.

Look at his RADAR - RA is the same for both---imagine D is the point they meet - at that point the film ends for one (then plays in reverse - AR), but actually begins for the other whose began in reverse and now unfolds in normal. RA D AR
Look at apex point when he zooms in on the note "you killed me" the fonts are different sizes (and he matches them up) and then at that point it flips sides and one plays in reverse while the other moves normal...
Longer haired girl on left at start. She then ends on the right side and vice versa for the short haired girl. The short haired girl actually has more footage as she is the one with the sign/note on her.

Just watch one side. You'll see how they switch.
It starts following one girl, she crashes into the other girl, and then the other girl stands up and it starts following her instead. How would there be more footage if it's the same video on both sides, and both sides take up the same amount of time?
More footage means she has more "face time". When they meet the other can be seen here and there as an "extra" for each other's "face time". The zoom in and out on the sign has short haired girl on screen more time than the other one. That is what I mean by more footage.
It is actually easier that it seems. You shoot only half (ex: 3 min song will be only 1:30 of footage) of 2 seperate subjects one will be played forward and then halfway thru it will be reversed and the other will start in reverse and then play forward as normal. It is the start of each that is the tricky part...

it's just that the one on the right is backwards AND flipped the whole time.
There's no 'switching sides', both play all the way through in the same way the whole time.
There are two sets of the words on the cardboard, and the camera goes to both on each side.

The left side of the screen is the video in normal mode. The right side is the video in reverse AND flipped round.
