  • How does this plug into laptops?

  • @TheOfficialCyntohara. Via the synth outputs through to the laptop soundcard. If you want to controll it via midi from your computer, you would need only a standard midi-cable.

  • omg this is awesome, for the price it would be great.

  • where you connect it?

  • @button1Pusher. I had the miniak connected via the outputs(line out) to two active fostex speakers. You could, however, connect headphones, a stereo, a computer or anything else capable of playing up the sound from this synth.

  • is this synth a "press one key get a 5 second sound" kind of synth ?

  • @francaisemusique. If you are using the presets(and also creating your own) you can actully decide for yourself the actual length of the sound played by using various settings. Reverb, chorus, delay, key pressure(expression) and so forth is all editable within the various patches/sounds. So I would initially say no to your question as it is all editable

  • @IntoMusicLund ah thankyou very much :) !

  • It convinced me NOT to buy one. I have most those sounds spread across my other keyboards, and the Korg X50 does it better. I only wanted a cheap decent vocoder and no one demos this in detail so il save my money and forget about it.

  • @JohnnyX50. Hi, thanks for watching. There are plenty of vocoder based vidoes featuring the Miniak. Try searching for "akai miniak vocoder". I do not, personally, use the vocoder but there are plenty who do :)

Since the price have been sliced to half this is actually a decent piece of hardware... If you can find it in shops still.

  • @IntoMusicLund cheers bo, il look into it :) thanks :)

  • can you make your own preset? make your own sound you play on the synth?

  • @SeanNolan5. Hi there. Thenks for watching. Yes. It is possible to customize your own sounds and then store them and play them.

  • @IntoMusicLund even using software that doesnt come with the miniak? like native instruments, razor?

  • @SeanNolan5. The software you mention are computer software modules. Any sound you create within your computer you can also save on your computer. Using the Miniak, in that scenario, it will only act as a midi keyboard. You will NOT be able to save the sounds creted in your computer to the Miniak using the software you ask about.

  • great video.

does the miniak come with software to make your sounds?

  • You rock my friend. I am going to get one of these and add it to my guitar loop station. I recently bought the "Kaossilator Pro" but I"m returning it to get this. Solid video!

  • Hahaha he's all professional then @ 6:53, "YO!" lol. But yeah this video convinced me to buy one.

  • @wouldiiwould . YO!. Thanks for noticing :) Apreciate it. It can get a bit dry and when doing these on the fly it is quite difficult not to be so dry :). But yes, you should invest in this funny little machine. Now since prices dropped almost 50% it is all worth the money spent.

  • great, thanks for this i have managed 16 vids to you tube using magix music maker im now waiting for ableton live to arrive and i cant wait to add a keyboard into the equation.....ive been looking at the mpk25 this little synth looks and sounds superb love ya basslines m8,thanks again nice vid

  • @moffFROMyork2. hey, thanks for viewing and commenting. Yes, that little piece of hardware is quite good and it does just what you want it to do.

  • sounds good & good vid

  • @KenRStone. Hi, thank you for listening and commenting.

  • can you customize and save your own voices?

  • @Cockoblock. Yes. You can customize and save.

  • I am looking at getting them Fostex's PM0.4n's and they sound awesome! I have the MPK25, but I wish I had the Miniak!

  • @SaltSlasher. You should look for it in europe. The prices for these units have dropped about 50% recently.

  • can you plug this in a bass amp????

  • @TheMetro666. Hi, yes you can. Should give you some great bass lines :)

  • ok man, this is gonna be great, i love the micrkorg xl...the miniak is ok but not really great in the studio i would not use the sounds if i was recording!!! my ultimate favorite would be the nord lead 2x!!! im sure everybody would agree. I will buy one this month just for recording. goldenfuriously@yahoo.com is my email contact me there when your ready to make some music. I have some friends in the publishing buisness and maybee we can make a record for sale!.

  • could you use this as a midi controller for like reason or other software?

  • @thagoods89. Hi, thanks for commenting and YES, you can absolutely use this as a midicontroller if wanted. Although it is not equipped with USB so you would need to either use a midi to USB cable/connector or a standard midi cable. If you browse google and search for "akai miniak back" you can see the midi in, out and through located at the utmost right side.

  • Hi, not had my Miniak for long, brilliant but having teathing troubles, can't find different efx for each vocoder variation a part from vocoding pre-sets that have reverb & so on. Can change these but not the vocoding settings with out efx. I'm trying to make my own patterns (multies) but having trouble. Shame it don't have USB but we have to midi it up to a midi interface with USB. My midi skill aren't good I admit. I've got the basics of how to use this to select sounds & so on. From Rich

  • @bestrickie2. Hi, did you solve the programming problem oif the unit yet? I understand it is a pain to actually program due to the small display but it should be possible to easily program it from another device.

  • i use fl studio primarily, how ever midi is univeral. A standard midi file should work between both daws. ....and i would also send over samples..mp3 or wave of drums. no sweat on the time span between messages, life is long.

  • @hellfirebeats. Hey, cool. Any way you want. I'm really eager to get things started.

  • hey man i also have a miniak, i also have a juno and and a microkorg, I have some excellent drum samples and some editing software. Would you be interested in doing a collaberation? We can exchage wave files, i saw that you were willing to give people mp3 of this video so i figured maybe you would also be willing to work on projects. Im trying to make a collaberation network, who knows we may be able to get paid! check out my vid and see if we can do a project.

  • @hellfirebeats. Hi, what a cool idea. I would most definitely be interrested in a form of collaboration. Please let me know you ideas for future collaborational work.

  • @IntoMusicLund well we could begin with a jam, loose format, i would send a drum mp3, along with the drums i would send 2 bass lines. I will send tempo and key information. Here is my idea, we will make a network of musicians and pass the song through all of them and in the end everyone has contributed. I think it would be great fun and also interesting to see where a song will end up and how long it will be passed through you tube.

  • @hellfirebeats. Sounds great, however to be able to contribute we need a standard DAW to be able to add or remove stuff from the song.

  • @IntoMusicLund take your pick i got fl studio, acid pro. soud forge..i got a roland 8 track recorder..magix and reaper. :D

  • @hellfirebeats. Sorry I didn't answer quicker, had a lot to do in the shop :) I use only Cubase as that is what I'm authorized to work with. Do you use that also?

  • @hellfirebeats what you prefer Akai MiniAK or Korg Microkorg???

  • nice job

  • @trofai. Thanks...

  • I'm thinking of getting those monitors , did you compare them tot he regular pm0.4's? For the price are these worth it? Is there any other small monitors that you would recommend?

  • @SilverStrings25. Thanks for watching. Yes, I think they are worth it although I would go for the ADAM A3X if they are going to be used in a studio environment due to that I personally like them better. However, for this synth I preffered the Fostex ones... Depending on what you are goning to use them for :)

  • Absolutely loved the song, couldn't resist tapping along to the beat :)

  • @Ediconification. Hey, thank you so much. I like it also although I pålayed wrong. Will probably put up another one soon.
