Never has there been a question of comparing KK with Rafi ! Quite on the contrary ! In my view, they are complementary ! Rafi even sang playback for KK in titles such as "Kabhi Hasa Diya Rula Diya Kabhi,Ajab Aye Dastaan Teri Zindagi

Neither did I mention Rafi's voice (or for that matter Lata's) not God-gifted ! I'm the first to acknowledge it ! Just cast an eye on some of my earlier comments of Desilyrics uploads !

kookundi, i respectfully disagree, i dont think anyone has or will come close to Rafi saab , this is because not only is his voice unmatched to this day but also the versatility, for example songs like 'duniya ke rakhwaley' and 'madhuban mein radhika' classics could never be sung by kishore so i dnt know why ppl cannot admit the FACT tht Rafisaab was the more superior and will always be the best singer india and the world has ever had!

I'm a huge fan of Rafi too ;We all are,and PERSONALLY I think he's unquestionably one of the greatest singers ever to have trodden the earth & noone will ever dethrone Rafi Sahaab's outstanding fame & outdo the feat he accomplished

My point was simply that the when it comes to PERSONAL appreciation of taste, colour, type of music etc from a cultural standpoint, the question of "superiority" sounds rather inappropriate !

kookoundi,kishore kumar himself said rafi sahib was the superior singer and that no one will ever match him.I remember an article in the urdu paper the daily jang back in 1986,the reporter had witnessed an incident where kk had sung a song and a member of the audience went onto stage and hugged kk and said "today you have sung better than rafi" and kk slapped him right across the face and said that he could never come close rafi sahib.

And if you really want to compare, ask yourself this question, could kk have sung rafi sahibs songs better than him or vice versa? i mean no disrespect to kk, and i agree with you on your last paragraph, there are people who like kk's style of singing/voice and there are people who like rafi. but it is an undeniable fact that no one will ever match the voice of rafi sahib because it was a god given gift, same as no one will ever match the voice of lata mangeshkar which is also a god given gift.

Very true about Rafi..but on lLata, i think Madam Norr Jehan would have buried her any day! they both had great songs, but as Lata stated: " there are songs of Noor Jehan that i could never sing...they are too complicated" !!...Rafi is untouchable of course..no debate there!!

never been any competition between the two of them,its obivious Mohd Rafi is moore talented,and sunged moore difficult songs than Kishore. Kishore couldnt sing : Nafrat kis dunya ko chor ke " from hathi mere sathi,he tried 5 times. then they had to ask Mr Rafi to sing tht song. Kishore is Gud,but far far far from a Rafi G.Never been ny competition. Kishore is very very gud,dnt deny tht. But Mr Rafi is mooe than perfect.

I agree with you bro! do you know that rafi sahib was deliberatly left out of singing for this particular film, and not only kk but manna dey and mukesh tried to sing that song and in the end they realised their mistake and the producers and directors of the film didn't have the bottle to ask rafi sahib to sing that song. And it was kishore kumar who went and asked rafi sahib to sing the song as a personal favour to him!kishore kumar said it was great of rafi sahib to agreed to sing the song.
