If I ever get my hands on this album, I will buy it in an instant.
Love the cover artwork btw, there aren't by chance any t-shirts with this on front, are there? I couldn't find any Pyramaze merchandise (except for stuff with the "Immortal" cover)...
Awesome band, I hope they come to Germany some time!!!
Pyramaze isn't a band that you can seriously headbang to. Their one of the few bands that you go ":O did... did.... men just male this? I didn't think that something so incredible, beautiful, magnificent could be created."
Denmark probably hasn't got as many metal bands as countries like Sweden, Germany or the USA, but almost every band that hails from Denmark is a good one (Pyramaze, Wuthering Heights, Iron Fire, Section A, 7 Thorns, etc.)!!! (No, I'm not from Denmark, but I just noticed that... ;-))
its a standard metal formular vocalist leaves and is replaced by someone good in their own right but not suitable for the job ozzy/dio with sabbath dickinson/bayley maiden halford/ripper priest kirsk/deris helloween the list is endless
Matt's vocals dont suite pyramaze at all...he was about the worst choice for a vocalist. i don't care how much you like iced earth, matts vocals can't hold a candle to lance's, not in pyramaze at least. thank the metal gods he went back to iced earth where he belongs. hopefully the next vocalist suites the band a little better.
@PishkinTheGreat Totally agree - Lance's vocals suited Pyramaze much better than Matt's. didn't get into Immortal much where as the 1st 2 cds were awesome! Hope the new vocalist suits better than Matt Barlow.
Actually no they can't. Look at Iced Earth's history, A glorious burden and Framing armageddon were the two lowest selling Iced Earth albums after their debut. Why? Because Barlow wasn't there. If Barlow wasn't the right vocalist for Iced Earth then Schaffer would not have brought him back. Therefore Matt IS Iced Earth when you are talking about vocalists.
a glorious burder and framing armageddon just arent great records just like crucible of men that isent a great record to ... its not becaus of the vocelist dude .. the music isent that good anymore look at night of the stormraider or iced earth 2 diffrent singers still great records its not because of tim owens that the music sucks or because of matt that the music becomes better its jon how writes everything
Actualyl Crucible of man is a fantastic album. You've got to bear in mind that Jon was the one who stated 'The only vocalist that works for Iced Earth is Matt, he is the only singer who understands what Iced Earth is.' Taking from that. Matt IS Iced Earth. Also the re records of Iced Earth and Night of The Stormrider, on Days of Purgatory, are much better.
Dejugulator wasn't too bad an album. I love The Ripper's voice, but it wasn't quite right for Iced earth, that's not to say they didn't still sound like awesome albums. But the reason with priest, I mean, it'[s Halford... possibly one of the most respected singers in metal... despite loving Barlow, it's actually easier to replace him in a band than it is Halford, because everyone knows halford
Actually, I'd think the opposite. Ripper and Halford sound alike. Barlow and Ripper, on the other hand, have little in common, vocally speaking.
I'm not saying that Ripper's not a great vocalist in his own right, but on both occasions he tried to fill in for two giants of metal. IMO, the shoes were too big for him.
I agree that halford and ripper are similar. But what I am saying is Barlow isn't as big a giant as Halford, I mean Halford has been going... well i think Priest are the longest runnning metal band... maybe motorhead... Point is Halford IS the metal god... as much as Barlow is my top vocalist, and I mean top... even he couldn't fill halfords shoes... Ripper did a good job with Iced Earth, but he wasn't right for the band... the needed the uniqueness of Barlow back
I dunno. I like how Lance sounds. However, I believe that's Matt's voice fits better with the music. I can imagine Matt's voice on the first two albums, and it sounds better to me.
Bear in mind that I'm an Iced Earth/ Matt Barlow fanboy, so I'm biased. :P
Um you do realise that I am also a matt barlow fan. in fact he's pretty much my vocal inspiration for my band, and that I own all Iced Earth albums, since they are my favourite band, and I even have his work with other bands :D But the point I'm making is these songs need a magical voice, not a haunting one. Barlow has quite a haunting voice, it just would not be the same, especially with such keyboards.
@themoonstar7420 i agree, but i think immortal is great album too, year of the phoenix, ghost light and legacy in a rhyme are awesome!!However it made me sad that lance had to leave, he was perfect for pyramaze
What country?

Matt's vocal might not fit for this band, you're right about that, but he is the shiz-nits in Iced Earth.
Metallicedearth 2 years ago 9
Agreed. His voice is too aggressive and too raw for this band's sound. But as Metallicedearth said, he's great in Iced Earth.

racerspeederx 3 years ago
It's due to Immortal I love Pyramaze. Though i consider it more an Iced Earth album.
Lance IS Pyramaze
Matt IS Iced Earth
One at least is where he should be

Raxisabominae 2 years ago
You know why that is, right?
Smokeyleaf 2 years ago
Jon writes MOST of it. Matt and Ripper both contributed.
Also, just some food for thought: When Ripper filled in for Halford as Judas Priest's lead man, Priest didn't do so hot, either.
Smokeyleaf 2 years ago
Dejugulator wasn't too bad an album. I love The Ripper's voice, but it wasn't quite right for Iced earth, that's not to say they didn't still sound like awesome albums.
