You cant blame Nolan for getting angry at the referee due to his decisions. The ref had a Jack Walker tattoo somewhere up his sleeve that day, such with the bias. Yes, the two penalties were correct, but the way the ref had influenced the game it was expected. The calls the ref had got WRONG that day had pushed Nolan over the edge. 50/50 balls being punished, fair Bolton tackles being carded, It was 12 against 10 by the end. Still, fortunately, justice was done as Bolton rightly won 1-0.

The ref makes a call based on what he sees and what his lines men tell him, not the players, it's not their place to say either way because they're obviously going to be biased.

If a referee makes a really bad decision, then he will be told so after the game - by a FIFA official. The players have no reason to tell him. The call has been made anyways.
