Tyler had less ice time that Taylir did.You have to consider that. Tyler is on a stacked team. This year hes a top six forward. It would be the same thing stats wise for Taylor Hall if he would be on the Bruins squad.
The cup is good for seguin sure but he didn't play better than taylor..taylor had more points in 65 games than tyler had in the playoffs and season combined...tyler went along for a ride they would have won it without him..if taylor gets it its cuz he actually helped his team be better..can't says seguin is better just cuz he was in the right place at the right time
@Gdayguy36 you an IDIOT the hawks have traded NEIMI FOR GOD DAMN MARTY TURCO WHO IS LIKE 40 and sucks cock, and they traded byfuglien and versteeg. hawks are gonna have a baaaad Stanley cup hang over this season
Should be the 1st overall pick; Had as many points as Hall and played on a weaker team. The Windsor Spitfires would still be good without taylor Hall, they have more secondary scoring than the Plymouth Whalers. Seguin has shown that he can put up big numbers on a weak team therefore he should go 1st overall to the Edmonton Oilers. Plus, the Oilers are in need on a centre, Hall is a winger. He is younger than Taylor Hall and has shown more improvement in his OHL career.
seguin players with players with much less talent than the players that hall plays with.
plus its always better to have a centre than a winger. look at toronto even, they have a really good winger in kessel but whos playing with him, bozak...its sad that bozak is the best toronto can do for kessel
I am under the impression that a deal to swap picks with the Oilers may hit a snag concerning Boston's 15th overall pick... I am willing to bet Tambellini is eyeing that pick as part of a deal to swap (and some of our others 32nd, etc). I think Boston would prefer to hold on to that pick, and deal away the 32nd overall and perhaps the first rounder acuired by Toronto for next years draft (which promises to be another top 10 selection).
@Bruinology Boston made a great move getting Torontos 1st pick there a playoff team thats only getting stronger with the pick and Torontos not a playoff team and that pick would have gave them more leverage for a trade and they might have been able to trade for a player and move down a few spot's in the draft but they could have still had a 1# pick but a low pick though and edm. would be crazy to trade that pick i live outside of edm. and all you see in the newspapers and tv is hall not sagiun
@evanderlazer It would be worth consideration. Kane is a great player. However, it would be trading away a center for a center... More specifically; a right shot center (Seguin) for a left shot center.. In that regard alone, I would prefer Seguin personally. Their junior numbers are similar, and Kane has a gritty style that I love... He also is well known to Boston fans for knocking out Cooke (that was awsome)! I think Boston would prefer to swap picks with the Oilers to grab Hall.. We will see.
@Bruinology Kane played wing his first year! Oops. But, was center in OHL. My bad. If Seguin falls to the Bruins, then I can see a similar situation (Seguin on the wing).
I would be more than happy if the Bruins end up with Seguin... But I hope they push to move up for Hall... To be honest, Seguin would fit the Oilers current and future needs better, regardless of all the hype revolving around Hall. They are equally gifted individuals with a different style of play. You have to remember all the talent Hall played with on the spitfires and who Seguin had to help him (hardly anyone).
Seguin deserves all the props he is getting but Hall has played and kicked it up a notch at many higher levels Hall showed at the Mem Cup why is going # 1
@evanderlazer Wow... What an Ignorant statement... Bruins fans don't like Canadiens?! Absurd. Bruins fans hate "The Canadians" as in the Habs due to the fierce rivalry (If you know anything about hockey) but we love our Canadian players all the same as American or European players! So long as they dawn the black and gold banner around their shoulders, they're cool with us.
@evanderlazer uhhh you know backstrom plays on a line with ovechkin right? its one of the few cases where the scorring winger is more of a help to the "playmaking" center then the center is to the winger. Backstrom would get fourty assists a year on most lines. 50 if he was lucky
@evanderlazer chill bro toronto traded away their #2 to Boston, otherwise both canadian teams would get the top two players. But i do agree that it sucks that all the great homegrown talent keeps on going to other places.
@Jubs10 upside? I don't see how considering taylor hall has won 2 mem cups and the mvp of the mem cup award twice. Also Hall had a good wjc whereas seguin didn't even make the team. Also hall can play centre and wing.
@Kipperluongo 2 memorial cups, yes... WJC, yup... But Hall did not make the team his first attempt either... You guys seem to forget that Seguin is a full "hockey" year behind Hall... And that makes a world of difference at their ages concerning development. Allot of Oiler fans also seem to forget the two teams these guys played for in the OHL... Seguin had no where near the talent around him that Hall did... That needs to be taken into consideration.
@kenmilly1 There is no doubt in my mind that both Seguin and Hall will develop into stars in the NHL... Obviously nothing is for sure, but these two have that "special" presence when on the ice. Not sure how to explain it, but its a certain poise. Both the Bruins and the Oilers should be happy with either one. Btw, I am a big time Bruins fan, but I love the Oilers logo. Classic.
@Jubs10 Not really. Seguin was born January 31, 1992 and Hall was born November 14, 1991. The difference is only about 2 and a half months. Hall has had the advantage of being born in the late year and having that extra year of experience than Seguin.
i was at the plymouth windsor game last night and the windsor fans kept talking shit about hall....now hall is an absolutely amazing player but look what he was around him....that whole damn team is stacked and look at plymouth if you take seguin off that team they are prolly in the cellar now no disrespect to McRea or Jenks but the team goes as seguin goes....he goes pointless in the first two games of the series as a result plymouth is down 2-0.
I get where people defend Seguin. Although he is what the oilers need I still think Sam gagne will develope into a solid centerman. Hall is what the oilers have lacked and that is a shoot first player. Also hall has cosistantly scored in the "O". Either would be good to get.
Depends when it comes to consistency, Hall has the benefit of playing with great linemates, so he has more opportunities to pick up points and have more space. If Seguin isn't at the top of his game, he can't count on his teammates for helping him.
That's true, but you also have to take into account of the ice-time that Seguin gets. Almost every time Plymouth can score, Seguin is on the ice, whereas Windsor has the luxury of other talented players, and not have to play Hall as much. But his linemates could be a huge reason why he is doing so good, just like how Seguin's ice-time can be a huge reason also.
There is a difference between Hall and Seguin, however the difference is minimal. It would come down to what your team needed more, a center or LWer? For my Oilers, I think that LWer is what we need for Hemsky, but I wouldn't mind Seguin and Gagner down the middle. Either way, they are both projected to be impact players.
Agreed. As a B's fan I want Hall, but with Edmonton continuing to lose nearly every night he's gunna be headed there. But Seguin would be good for my B's too :) Even though I'd want a 35-40 goal scorer over a 25 goal scorer
@EnderSoldier Yeah that is true about Hall BUT he was still a rookie non the less. Hall has also consistantly scored in the OHL where Seguin only had his true breakout year for goal scoring this year. Hall is a LWer that is a shoot first player which we need.
Seguin is somewhat of a late bloomer, but the fact of the matter is that Seguin has scored more goals than Hall this year with far less talent on his team. Probably the most interesting stat is that Seguin has almost twice as many even strength goals as Hall does (34-19). Seguin isn't a shoot first player, but he is a potential star centreman, and the Oil doesn't have that . Every team that has won it all had a great centre core, regardless of wingers, but never the other way around.
Also these so called experts need to keep in mind that Seguin is playing for the Whalers. Hall is playing for the best team in junior hockey. Now guess Messier was at the prospects game and was going ga ga over Hall though. Sucks that there isn't a true number one over all this year. No clear cut one. I say make it easy and aquire both top picks and get them both LOL.
Seguin is going to suprise everyone. A lot of people are going ga ga over Hall but this kid is leading the OHL in points and doubling the next player on his team in points. Either of Hall or Seguin would be good for us.
he was a surprise even in elementary school. i went to elementary school with this motherfucking beast and he just made the other kids look like NOTHING. we always knew he was gonna go far with this
@oilersrule78 Its a really tough choice Seguin is on a much weaker team and doing better than Hall in the points race. But when they evaluated there skills Hall must have been just a little better to make the junior team over him. Why did they put Kadri on over Seguin. Kadri was like a Shawn Horcoff on that team. He couldn't one time a puck at all.
@evanderlazer easy bud, one of em is coming to edmonton! But yeah i hate when all the crazy canadian players go to american teams that don't even care.
@evanderlazer You're so freaking stupid. NO ONE intentionally tanks. 30 teams in the NHL and 6 of them are Canadian-based. And so you're saying that Boston, Detroit, New Jersey are intentional tankers? You're funny. I'd understand if you meant that some of the smaller markets do it, but don't generalize all 24 USA-based teams. That's a hefty generalization. I'm done with you. The last thing I need to do is argue with some ignorant Canadian that can't stand Canadian players having a job in the US
@evanderlazer Let's read into my comment, in which I said that AMERICAN FRANCHISES have won the Stanley Cup. I have nothing against Canadian players. In fact, they're quite good. What I'm saying is that you are the misinformed one who thinks that hockey should only be played in Canada. If your Canadian franchises are so rich, why can't you put together a decent team to win the Cup, other than the cap? And don't call me a cunt or a bitch. That's ridiculous that you have to resort to profanity.
If it weren't for American cities happily taking in your Canadian players and giving them disgusting loads of money, they'd be flipping burgers at the local diner. Be appreciative. Last time the Canes won the Cup? 2006. Last time the Canadian teams won the Cup? 1993. Hmm...
looks like another stevie yzerman...how many do we have now? Toews, Stamkos now Seguin. I suppose its just the label for anyone just below Crosby's talent
i hope to what ever deity out there carolina drafts this kid and he dose not turn out to be a bust . and wonds up being a true goal scorer like malkin , crosby , and ovie
