In so many recordings of K141 I miss the imitation of the classical guitar that Scarlatti intended. Some may argue that he wrote for keyboard and therefore the guitar's technique and sound are irrelevant. I however find the connection charming.
Toccata or not - don't know the tittle is by Scarlatti - this "hyper tempo" cost in clarity and the quality of sound, which makes me to prefer the sublime slower reading by Argerich. That by Gilels is totally another, interesting story.
Being no Argerich connoiseur I do yet recall having heard her reading of the same sonata in bit slower tempo resulting a marvelous fully controlled performance.
As funny these speed records can be, music is after all not a sport.
@th3wing3dpaint3r Actually, Scarlatti' MS collection in Parma and Venice list the work as Sonata. No other title was attached to his works published (Other than the Fugue K30) in his lifetime.
@kyleclef Thanks! I just googled "argerich" and picked whatever photos looked new or interesting to me :)
The second photo really caught my attention. What was she doing sitting in front of an organ? The website was in French though, so i have no idea what it said.
The Chinese girls can play even faster :)

I don't think anyone plays k 141 better than her! But this version is almost too fast! And I never complain about speed.

@anttisairanen Exactly, she's played it slower a couple of times before, why not try playing it faster (It is a toccata after all).
Just because you didn't like it, or thought it was "funny", doesn't mean everyone else did too :D
However, if you like this piece played at a slower tempo, check out Gilels's version.
