  • is the lad in the red shirt actually that tall or are u so small

  • i'm watchin it rite now on FX!!!!!!!!!!

  • the movie was really good, and the time flew by when i was watching it

  • I really liked the movie. Thought it was amazing, but knowing that Christopher Johnson said he would return for him in three years implies there may be a sequel, and I hope that doesn't happen.

  • This was fooking amazing

  • CALL MNU! Eric had relations with a prawn... lmao jkjkjk

  • Thumbs up for the pigs and the fookin prawns wooooooo!

  • that movie rock hard ass

  • Yes the movie was awesome but think of the message- we treat each other like aliens.

This is what we are now . but we can do better.. This message is be better .. If they came back to fight us.. as they would be rather pissed... I know we would get our asses kicked and deserving of it. We do this to our brothers and sister here on Earth.. They Day the Earth stood still .. same thing .. we think we are all that.. we need to be better to each other and when then come -the visitors.& they will

  • @alfriedar No we cant do better actually. Since the very dawn of human existence we have killed each other over any reason (money, land, religion, women, food, fun, boredom, etc).

    Soooooooo shut up hippie

  • that movie was AWSOME!!!!!!!!

  • the guy on the right looks kinda scare. why? lol

  • I fuckin loved district 9

  • 2:35-2:43 the fat guy is itching his dick

  • this movie is fooking great

  • Fookin' great movie.

  • What's even a greater phenomenon is how the film only had a 30 million dollar budget. Just think about how great the next film will be when these guys get REAL funding.

  • FOOK FOOK FOOK FOOK FOOKIN AWESOME FILM HEY!?!

  • WHOEVER THINKS THIS MOVIE SUCK DESERVES TO BE SHOT WITH THE PIG LAUNCHER!!!

  • @jojonr619 So his sister must be shot with a pig launcher!

  • @jojonr619 cat catapolt!

  • @jojonr619 I CAN USE CAPS TO BRO!

  • it is the best movie of 2009!

  • Fucking fantastic movie. I haven't seen the short film, Alive in Joburg, but I'd really like to now.

  • not awful fucking amazing

  • My favorite movie of all time.

  • District 9 was fucking great. Possibly my favorite movie ever.

  • my favorite movie of 09: District 9. Either that or Moon. The Aliens in Alive in Joberg looked so scary, but in District 9, they looked fascinating lol

  • Best movie ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this movie is just perfect, soooooooooo perfect

  • sucked

  • I can't believe this movie didn't win am oscar, that crappy hurt locker on them all.

  • @newtland1 I loved District 9 but it shuldn't have won best picture Hurt locker deserved it!

  • @miamid17 it should have won best adapted screenplay at least

  • @newtland1

I wasn't happy as well. I stopped respecting Oscars after a year when Denzel Washington won an Oscar instead of Sean Pean, it was 2002 I think. Sean Pean's acting was amazing. I am Sam is historical movie and Sean proved his value. District 9 tells about many problems of XXI century, Media, politics, rasism...evil and naive side of human nature. There is a reason also why the action has place in RPA I think. I'm happy there are still people who knows the value of really good movies.

  • that was my favorite film of the year

  • lmao near the end in the mech suit he throws that pig i just remembered coz of this

  • i didn't think it was that good...

  • @ForzaAquila why not

  • perhaps cuz everyone was building up the hype and in the end it just felt like some other sci fi movie which builds and doesn't conclude with a concrete ending.

  • @ForzaAquila the ending was fantastic sure it wasn't a twist or anything but it was still amazing

  • loved it all my friends say it sucked, but i thought it was great!

  • greatst move ever just saw it today ps i like the mnu

  • have u seen avatar? if so u would have bine emotionaly actracted (lol) to the na'vi...

  • Best sci-fi movie I have ever seen. 10 out of 10

  • how can anyone stand this movie? It had no plot ,action , conflict, or climax! It was literaly worse than napolean dynamite! I never thought that was possible.

  • im with you...personally, i fuckin hated it.

  • nah, your just short

  • i really liked the movie.

  • eric... ur sister hated it... why!!

  • fatass scratches his balls at 2:43

  • District 9 FOREVER! tHE best movie this year. It kicks my ass!

  • District 9 owns allllllllllllllllllllll!!! Such a good movie!!

  • it is awsome i was born in joannesburg lmao ive been all over south africa

  • I loved the movie but the ending was sad but epic

  • It was a pig? I thought it was a sheep :P ohh well

  • sarcasm right?

because i realy wanted to say - since when was a sheep pink

  • No not at all, I was watching on a crap quality TV and it honestly looked more like a sheep

  • haha oh right, and the TV was black and white.

  • i really liked the ending but i thought the beginning of the movie was a bit slow. besides that, i enjoyed the movie.

  • "except maybe someone in a suit"

they didnt use any alien suits at all :)

    Just saying.

  • hes talking about motion capture or cgi, actors will have to perform to a ball on a stick or a guy in green tights for cgi performances.

  • i dont get what youre talking about at 1:20 please explane someone

  • I absolutely enjoyed the film. It was amazingly well done and I'm hoping for a prequel/sequel.

  • District 9 was fucking awesum.

  • @slipPSYCHOSOCIALknot no it was FOOKING awesome

  • dont lie you were attracted to the aliens

  • Can't wait for District 10!!!

  • best movie of 2009 in my opinion. loved the story. the aliens looked amazing, and had a really good ending.

  • Thought this movie was pretty lame if you ask me.

  • no, you secretly thought the movie's awesome, which it is.

  • Mostly I hate sifi movies. Star Treck was only just good.

But holy shit. District 9 is by far the best sifi ever made. No sifi (not even most drama) movie has ever been as unsettling or heartbreaking as District 9. The aliens(I'm not calling them prawns sence that's supposed to be the alien equivalent to fag or nigger) are so believable and human like, you wouldn't expect that from a sifi. pig throwing?.....ROFL!!!

  • loved it

  • I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!

  • It was good but i dont think it was awesome. I did'nt like how they did not give any backstory on the aliens.Like why did they have to land here? I also did'nt like how the humans treat them like white men treated black men 200 years ago. Why did'nt they help them get back home? But I still very much enjoyed the movie. I like how detailed the prawn were, the robot suit, the acting, and the cgi.I'd give it a 4 out of 5

  • @Mrpdragon191

The point was to make you feel unsettled that the aliens were treated poorly.

  • @hitmeup4224 Yeah it was good but i wish they gave some backstory on the aliens

  • Mabey they will give backstory in the sequel

  • @Mrpdragon191 that was the point!!!!!............they wanted to make relevance today about races just like how they did with aliens and humans

  • @NYPDface That's not what i meant. What i meant by ''backstory'' was why did they come here and why they could not go home.I got the point of the movie.

  • @Mrpdragon191 o well u phrased the question terrible then

  • @NYPDface sorry if you misunderstood me but i think i was pretty clear

  • @Mrpdragon191 dont worry about it, we all make mistakes :)

  • @NYPDface thanks see ya

  • @Mrpdragon191 no prob cya later bro

  • And in answer to the question in the video. Yes i loved it, and cant wait for D10 ! Love it up to the pig throwing, amused me for some time! I admit, i really connected with the prawn Christopher Johnson. And loved the bond between Wikkus and Christopher, showing SOME humans can co-ordinate with them peacfully. Great ending to, i thought it was really sad, and <3 how loyale his wife is to him, she doesnt know when he will return, and his little metal flower his leaves for her, he is alone : (

  • District 9 has strong messeges to the human race! And i must say, i would give many things to be a different alien speices. Im sure im the only one that thought the prawn were cute, and if they came here, i would learn their language and help the best i could. If they asked to fight us but would take the humans that are willing to help, i would choose them. Proves my point, when the main character shoots a prawn against his will in order for the military to try out alien technology; would happen

  • Am I the only person on planet earth that didn't like district 9? So many questions that need answering, there can be such a thing as whoring a metaphor you know.

  • you are the only person. XD

  • I like this movie because its sci-fi movie filmed in South Africa that is instead in the USA because most sci-fi alien movies are always in USA and putting it in South Africa made it believable because aliens can't just choose USA all the time. If it was in USA then all u see is americans trying to terminate the Prawns (aliens) because of fear.

  • The movie wasn't too long. It's just emotionally exhausting so it seems long.

  • froto liked district 9

  • distric 9 is the second best movie that came out last year (first avatar) the story was superb and the action scenes were amazing

  • Ha

    not emotionally attached until avatat

  • I loved the movie :] it was AWESOME!!!

  • DUDE!!....you shouldn't just stop watching it after 15, you missed the awesome stuff....

  • @hugoboss1983

    HA!

the real movie doesnt start until like 30 minutes - hour

  • I kept wondering why the reviewers were looking off to the side of the screen... thought maybe they'd have an alien jump out at the end, but no, nothing.

great films, though, to my mind (District 9 and Alive in Joburg); surprising how much imagery and framing carried over.

  • come on guys this movie is worthy of purchase!! I mean it's the only one 2009 I've boughten so far.

  • This is a superb movie, I stumbled across it for free in HD at: watchmovies4free |.| org

  • you guys should just look at the camera and not be looking around like your interested in something else

  • good movie, actually just watched it here

    EASYMEDIACLICK(dot)COM/?p=17

  • i literally JUST saw District 9 and i thought it was crazy! in a good way. it kept me really entertained but some of the... fluids and... pieces that were flying and exploding just kinda kept me cringing and on the edge of my seat the whole movie. it was nasty and cool at the same time.

oh and my friends and i rewound the movie like 6 times to see the pig thing over and over again. just like we did when paris hilton died in house of wax.

  • 0/5 I didn't like the movie at all. I didn't care for the storyline, the acting sucked, and it had to much garbage in it....I really can't say anything good about this movie.

  • jesus i hate you three faggots especially that little douche in the middle just shut up

  • @roloug95

Then why are you still here?

  • Why don't you clarify who you're talking to roloug.

  • unless your one of those three then why should have to have anything to do with it?

  • I just wasn't sure if you were addressing me, roloug. Your comment was right after mine, and my comment appeared to be "the one in the middle."

  • hahahaha no i was adressing the three annoying retards in the video

  • Was this movie rascist?

That is half truth to claim this movie is rascist.

Well there is rascisam but is told how we humans are rascist.

Like documentary about rascisam, only with aliens and guns. Oh and Sci-Fi.

    Awesome movie.

  • Very sad movie. Very awesome guns.

And guys, it wasn't being racist. It was based on the location. It's like white people being evil in... well a lot of other places in Africa.

  • ya i agree with the thing u said about the aliens. It's cool how they were scary and different, but still showed emotion and you could identify with them really well

  • Watched alive in Joburg after watching this review. Thanks for the recommendation. Wikus was the sniper gut in alive in Joburg,

  • 5/5 distric 9!

  • I loved this movie, loved the visual effects, loved the two main characters, but I think the storyline is highly overrated, at some points it's even racist. Still loved the movie though.

  • @tinamoul The point of the movie was to illustrate how far we have come when it comes to racial inequality, yet how far we still have to go. It's an allegory for the Zimbabweans in the early nineties, when they were persecuted etc.

  • @TheHippoFish i aggre with TheHippoFish

  • @TheHippoFish We all tend not to see racism when it's not the generalized target groups. Maybe racism is not the right word, but it was prejudiced. The portrayal of the black mobsters is disgustingly prejudiced. The Nigerian gangsters are bloodthirsty, dishonest thugs, which is not a big deal- theyre gangsters, I get it. They see the aliens as mere cockroaches with money, so they dont treat them well, and that makes perfect sense. Theyre just cruel, self-interested mercenaries, and in this>>

  • theyre no worse than the films (mostly white) government officials, who cold-bloodedly torture and murder the aliens. So far no racism, just characters with motivations. But! The Nigerians have a wailing witch doctor. Who instructs them to eat the aliens. And they do it. Bloody, wriggling, and raw, of course. Were told that the black prostitutes service the aliens sexually. ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME??Yup, thats Hollywoods Africa, isnt it. Black Africans shown as degenerate savages who

  • will have sex with non-humans and are pretty damn eager to eat people. It wasnt even necessary for the plot, and in fact the racist elements actually created some plot holes. The gang boss could have tried to take Wikus hostage, and use him and his scaly arm as a weapon, same as the white government tried to do. By trying to eat his arm to gain his powers the gang boss was risking everything. If eating the arm didnt work, Gang-Guy would lose Wikus arm entirely, so his hunger

  • for human flesh actually risked the only interface he had to enable the alien weapons. Actually, logic suggests that both the gang boss and the government probably would have taken a few aliens hostage and forced them to shoot the guns long ago anyway, but thats another story). And the idea that the prostitutes had been servicing the aliens actually created a huge plot hole. All of South Africa knew that prostitutes had long been having sex with the aliens; so the public scare against Wilkus?

  • and tinamoul. You seem to have a lot of probs with the movie, and that's your rightful opinion.

But you have to suspend your disbelief for the sake of the movie. If everything has to be realistic, Wikus would not have won a shootout with the military (although I rather enjoyed seeing the cocksuckers turned into paste) and that wouldn't have made much of a movie.

And no offense to South Africa, but that is near the World's Capital of AIDS. Lots of raping, murder, etc. Not made up by Hollywood.

  • I have no problem suspending my disbelief, hell the only way one can enjoy a sci fi movie is to suspend ones disbelief. What I find silly about the movie is that it is riddled with prejudice, and the funniest part is that those are the elements that introduce plot holes into an otherwise good movie.

  • AMAZING MOVIE

  • district 9 was the best movie since dark knight

  • fact.

  • Don't mess with the pigs man, Swine Flu was only the start of their power, soon, PIGS WILL FLY!!! >=D

  • the best movie i have ever seen.

  • District 9 was amazing.

  • lol I wish it was longer ! it was so cool and I wouldn't mind it being a day if the put more stuff into it that would be awesome !

  • AWESOME MOVIE!

  • I honestly think that District 9 was a little bit better than Avatar. Even though it didn't have 3d, it is just stands out in the sci-fi category.

  • The Aliens were so submissive and pathetic it was a little unbelievable. I know what Niel Blomkamp was trying to say with District 9, but he could have been a little more subtle about it. I felt patronized watching the film.

  • Compared to every film that is out in theaters (from august 14 to the end of the year) there are none that can top it in terms of content or style.

  • until "Avatar" that is.....

  • Oh I agree with you, but I made this comment before Avater had been releaced. Avatar was Great! Camran did a good job with this film.

  • how wikus's progressively comes to understand the Prawn's through his transformation and begins to change his attitude from one of generalized discrimination and stigmatization to intrinsic motivation, to extrinsic motivation and from there to one of incentive and motivation to protect and help someone else unselfishly is a wonderfully seamless progression. I'm really not reading into this, everything I spoke of is there you just need to know where to look.

  • Looking at the psychological and sociological aspects of the film are very important in my opinion, and are often what I look for in any film. In the beginning the interviewee's speak about how they at first put up with the prawn's and then how they are now fed up with them. One man speaks about how they would willingly accept the prawn's if they were human but because they are from another planet he doesn't even want them around.

  • District 9 was actually fairly well done. having the aliens be subjugated to the 3rd world humans despite their technological advancements shows how dire their situation really is. It is interesting to see the style they decided to take on when producing this film. the hybrid of documentary vs 3rd person, was and still is a ground breaking advancement in the sci-fi genera; it could have been botched if they weren't careful.

  • just watched it, very good movie, like the firearms especially the alien ones.

  • great movie still dosent take my favorite movie slot though its fight club so yeah

  • excelent movie, didnt take my 1st place owned by Fight Club, but got pretty near the top

  • that guy on the right is your typical fat american online gamer lol?

  • I saw the dvd version of this movie.. I first thought it was gonna be a crappy @ss cloverfield movie. but it was wayyy wayyy better then that sh!tty cloverfield. This movie is the best alien movie ever made beside Independence day.

  • favorite sci-fi since cloverfield

  • wow true

  • Comment removed

  • District 9 was an amazing movie!

  • This movie is kinda like Halo, with the humans being the covenant cos they really want to use the alien artefacts but can't and they need someone else to help them use it.

  • district 9 is one of the best movies of tha yr w/o a dout

  • I agree 100%

  • 2:43! its a ballscratch haha!

  • l0l

  • emotionally attracted to an alien..LLLMMMFFFAAAOOO

  • district 9 is my favorite movie of all time. it's the only movie i've ever cried in.

  • Yeah, the pig-throw was awesome. I definitely "wooed" at the pig.

I saw Alive in Joburg and it was really good considering the budget. Also not as dark really, which was nice too. Neil Blomkamp = my hero.

  • It was effin AWSOME
