Scout just wanted to help Engy rebuild his sentry. But it all went horribly wrong. Engy broke every bone in his hand, making him unable to keep up with the rest of the team and eventually costing him his job. Engy never blamed Scout for the accident but Scout couldn't help but feel like he could never do anything right since that day. He just wanted to end it all.

Engy heard the news of what Scout was about to do and rushed to find Him. But he arrived too late. Scout was already about to jump.

Here's how it looks to me, the Engineer and Scout are trying to escape a crazed Sniper. The Engineer has already jumped down, and he's calling for Scout. The Scout is too nervous, but as the Snipe comes out, he goes to jump... But the Sniper gets him anyways. The Engineer tries to climb back up, but it is too late. The Engineer is alone now... trying to escape from The Sniper.

I'm guessing, the Scout was trying to commit suicide and Engineer was trying to talk him down. Sniper seeing what was going on attempts to gain Scout's trust and talk him out of suicide. Scout decides to jump anyways. Using his quick reflexes, the Sniper grabs Scout and restrains him as the crying Scout tries to get loose to jump. Or at least that is how it looks to me.
