  • @techdude6693, We have big, awesome Diesels!

  • Further, since they do not comply with even the most lenient state emission requirements, diesel vehicles are not offered for sale in states that adopt California emission requirements. Conversely, hybrids can achieve high fuel economy, while generating far less emissions.

  • While some diesel vehicles get high fuel economy, it's important to consider emissions when considering a vehicles impact on the environment. Even the best diesel vehicles on the road today produce more than 17 times more smog forming emissions than a Hybrid Synergy Drive powered vehicle.

  • honestly, which sane person would take chevrolet over toyota??!

  • @TheMichaelRN LOL.

  • 13 miles... what the fuck is the point

  • I was under the impression that we would be able to choose when the car would be in all electric mode and when it would be in hybrid so if we hit a spot on our trip everyday where we know we experienced traffic we could use the juice where it would make the greatest impact. Any way our house hold would rarely purchase petro since commute daily is but 6 miles away. Our car would see mpg over 200 miles. If I got a car like this I would want to get home solar panels to offset plugging in the car.

  • Toyota is AMAZING!!!

  • @saif03paul he said the prius is cheaper than the volt.

Why is the Volt by far the superior car as steve claims? If the Prius (20 km electric only) consumes 4l and the Volt (60 km electric only) 7l gasoline every 100 km, than the Prius uses less gasoline on 113,4 km tours and longer. From 20 km to 113,3 km the Volt is better, from 0 km to 20 km both consume no gasoline. So it depends on the distances. I agree the volt looks better inside, but it is a four seater only.

  • I don't know why so many people complain about the looks...i think the new Prius five's with 17 inch wheels look amazing! They look hot! I want to masturbate on them! Plus u get the best MPG on the road by far...u can't beat that.

In a few years, Toyota will increase the lithium battery life to at least 30 miles...then imagine the MPG!

  • @whole27 actually a VW Polo diesel has better MPg,has better performance and is much less wxpensive :)

I dont know wheather do you have it in USA,but here in Europe we all know that a lot of small capacity diesels are have much better MPG so no one buys Prius

  • @ManuelFerara A Polo diesel would barely and inconsistently, get 55MPG in US MPG conversion

  • @insidertrading1 thats why the only hybrid worth it is a diesel hybrid! - these priuses will only give you good mileage if you drive it like a pussyfoot on sunday, not the case with diesels tho

  • @ManuelFerara We don't have small diesels. Wish we did though, but it seems that the same cars in europe are rated to have higher MPG than in europe. Like on Toyota's UK site, it says the car gets up to 72MPG, but here its 51

  • @techdude6693 That's because the US gallon is of different volume than the UK imperial gallon.

  • how much is the volt cuz he said the volt is cheaper and i saw it as 40,000

  • @saif03paul 32k after gov't rebate.

  • 13 miles doesnt get u anywhere...why even bother?

  • Why oh why don't they make a proximity charger so that you ust pull up to post and it starts charging?

  • I just saw this Plug in in an advertisement. Very interesting. But no chance Im buying this car. I have my V8 Twin Turbo BMW X6

  • You're saying "taking the dollar out of the equation, the Volt is the more superior car" Of course it is because it is more expensive. You cannot take the dollar out of the equation. It is the single most important equation in car-buying in my opinion.

  • Who cares what it looks like if you don't have to pay for gas

  • Finally, this is awesome. Lithium is the way.

  • Not really good for where the most people and pollution happens... in a city.

  • I wouldn't trust Chevrolet with so much technology on board on my life! Thank you Toyota for providing an alternative!

  • I don't see a difference on any hybrids. You need gas to power cars, and you need gas to power electricity.... So either way, you use gas, no?

  • @WorldOfIvillis .. You guys are really confusing with your 'gases'. It's not gas, it's petrol, in liquid form. Secondly, not all electricity is from gas, there is a thing called Hydro-power, which provide the majority of electricity in the mountaineous regions of the States. Seattle, for instance, gets 78% of its electricity from hydro-power.

  • its way better than the Volt

  • @Soul12000

The volt can go 40-60 on just electric. And the Gas engine helps power the Electric battery until you get a charge. So the Volt is a small range electric with combustion assist.

I have a prius 09. I feel like they just slapped a large batter tot he combustion engine. Make my drive schizophrenic to say the least.

  • Any decent Diesel engine can compare to that mileage.

  • Two things to make me want this: 1. vastly better interior quality 2. normal looking gauges and in front of the driver.

  • Pretty good. I only live 4 miles from work so I would be using very little gas.

  • @movetoyou 4 miles? Ride a bike instead.

  • Brian Griffin's car.

  • Did you just say 82 mpg?! If so why didn't you scream it!?

Also, why does this have an old-Toyota head-unit? It looks like an old Sienna!

  • @bg1379 I was thinking more like the Echo. Man that was a ugly and god-awful car!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I like the Chevy Volt over the Toyota Prius -plug in

  • You look cool in one of those prius, Steve. You on the waiting list?

  • Hybrids need to die already, I want to see hydrogen fuel cell cars in the near future like the Honda Clarity.

  • prius with plug-ins;))

  • I can understand the reason why people would like the Prius. My only issue is the location of the guages. It's in the center, not in front of the driver. I wish there was a tach as well. I'd want the tach to make sure your engine is running, not revving.

  • hey steve, 82mpg is impressive...but what was the mile range before fillup?

  • damn, 13 miles....way to go toyota

  • @tomtom5418 i kno...that amazing...alot better than the 1/2 mile other hybrids achieve on electric only

  • @tomtom5418 the volt can go much farther, 40 miles to be exact

  • What a boring car. Holy Cow it's so frigging boring.

  • @buickboy92 so boring you watched the video on youtube...

  • @rsxzx6r Oh no, I didn't mean the video, I meant the car. I just wish it was a bit more involving to drive is all. I didn't mean to sound like a jerk. I may have spoken too fast.

  • i'll buy this and not the garbage ass chevy volt that car sucks

  • Steve is right, if i want a electric car, both are the same. But in appearance and technology... the Chevy Volt would be the car of choice. Good review on the plug-in model. (It still looks cheap and funny looking to me) IM JUST SAYIN!

  • American > Japanese

    end of story.

  • @1234fllf ..lol...u dreaming?...you remember something called "bankruptcy"?

  • I would choose the pruis over the volt because of one thing, the extra passenger that I can have in the pruis....

  • the prius still looks like a tampon... they gotta update the exterior appearance

  • @shummyshum O.O what tampon do you use

  • The Prius PHV makes a lot more sense than the Volt. The ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) has to be started up regularly to ensure that the oil does not oxidize, the seals do not dry up, the spark plugs do not rust, etc. Which means that a car should be either a purely electric or a mild hybrid like a regular Prius. PHV is not bad too, the engine will start up at least every weekend, and charging the small battery takes only 3 hours from 110V.

  • Steve makes thes best reviews EVER!

  • The volt is way better than this piece of crap Toyota. It's American, and it doesn't look like the official car for the gay community...

  • @Ugross2195 How about the fact that the Prius is the most efficient & affordable Hybrid on the market.... And "it's American" is hardly a phrase synonymous with reliability.. But it's ugly as hell, I agree. Sincerely your VW driving gay American.

  • The chevy volt is a lot more expensive and doesn't give you that much more. My money would be to lease a 2012 prius v

  • i heard the top speed is 10 mph on this car

  • Even though the Volt is better in lots of ways, (Because of comsumers ignorance) Toyota will sell the PHV like hot potatos -.-

    Image: Toyota >> Chevrolet

  • @make2003 exactly, at the end of the day the chevy is still an american car, and im sure will have more of its share of problems after the first 3 to 5 years.

  • @make2003 Nahhh, I dont think the Volt is better than the Prius, it all depends on our needs and wants.
