I prefer Beady Eye cus it's rock n' roll, as Noel it's a bit dancey but i still love Noel. Also i play bass an guitar so i am a musician of a small degree :P
i love noel, but you keep going on about if you are a musician you'd gravitate more toward him and that is generally true, given the fact that his songs are really easy to learn and play, but if you we're a real musician you'd give each of those bands the credit they deserve and try to look into their music. if you stick to those same old 5 chords that oasis/noel have been using for decades you will never progress. and you want to become better, don't you? no hate intended btw, love your stuff.
@domogenesisqwertz I hear you and agree with a lot of that. But remember, although being able to play an Ebmsus4dim#12 transition to a Bmsus411 might make you a great guitarist, it does not mean you are going to be a great song writer as a result. Some people are too intent on demonstrating their technical skill at the expense of the song. John Lennon didn't need to resort to that for Imagine. It really depends on what you define as 'becoming better'.
Im a massive fan of both radiohead and oasis. In my opinion noel and thom yorke, although very different in song writing styles, are as close as this generation has to a modern day lennon or mcartney. Thom yorke is an insane talent, check out him playin "The Clock" acoustically. Everyones entitled to their own opinion and to each their own, but as a music fan and if u like noels acousic stuff you should defo check out thom yorke's acoustic songs. no way can they be classed as crap.
Good point on gravitating towards noels music more so than beady eye if u have an interest in playing music yourself. But to write radiohead off as crap is outrageous. Even if u dont like radiohead i recommend you go listen to the acoustic version of "There there". Just as good if not better than any of noels acoustic numbers. also check out the acoustic verisons of go to sleep, i might be wrong, gagging order, and tell me you still think radiohead are "Crap".
It's obvious Noel's the better songwriter, the best of his generation I would say but you can't deny Liam, Andy and Gem can write tunes as well, having said that, they don't have the back catalogue of tunes Noel has, which surprises me to be honest. I thought they'd really come out with something outstanding, you know like when the beatles split and george harrison came out with all things must pass. I hope they really nail it on their next album.
Plus it's also hard going your own way in the shadow of someone like Noel but I think given time Beady Eye may surprise people . . . . I don't expect them to be like Oasis at all but might well become established. Lot of British broadsheet newspapers rated their album better than some of the last Oasis albums and I don't quite go with that but I hope both do well.
Noel's ok - our old bassist a girl has met him and she liked him . . . . . do you rate The Morning Son - personally I found that a quality song - same as Born on a Different Cloud on the 5th album. Noel has better songs for sure but Gem and Andys tracks I mentioned I think are on a par with a lot of the tracks Noel wrote for *later* albums - not the first 2 albums or the B sides of those albums . . . . . .
I think its better this way without Oasis as we get more music.
Beady Eye just give it time and judge them on the next album first album was a bit of a rush but if Oasis had put out the Roller people would love it. I think there is a lot of ppl following the media on the idea they can't do anything without Noel. Technically I rate Andy and Gem far better as musicians. Then Noel is left handed and plays the guitar right handed. Odd man for doing that but best songwriter we had in 20 years.
@subsahara121 I agree with some of what you say. I agree Beady Eye's album was rushed. I agree Gem and Andy are great musicians and technically superior to Noel. I don't think though they come even close in the songwriting stakes though. I don't think even their best songs come close to Noel's. And personally, I think The Roller is Beady Eye's worst song.... but that's just me. I know Noel likes the song though, so go figure. I do hope they release a great 2nd album though.
Good video coming from someone whos played 14 years and into technical stuff like Vai and Satriani and plays it too. Chord progression to the Morning Son is great. I think honestly we have to wait until the 2nd Beady Eye album to know but after repeat listens I'd say its a good album if not very good. But it's not "great". Noel's album still listening to it . . . . . best song was a B side - Game of Genius. Say Noels is better but Beady Eye's is a very good debut I wouldnt class it as average
Beady Eye have good songwriters - I agree with you Noel has done amazing stuff and classic all time greats. But look at Oasis albums - "To Be Where Theres Life" (Gem Archer) - "Nature of Reality / Turn Up The Sun" (Andy Bell) they have songs on a same level. For me the Beady Eye album is very good it has three songs could make Oasis albums - 4 letter word, morning son and roller. Morning Son would have got on any Oasis album. And Born On A Different Cloud by Liam? As good as lots of Noel songs
Well said georgiarose16.When liam started the band many years ago they sounded terrible untill Noel came along with his input. Then Noel left again and you are left with the same thing again.
Beady eye in the other hand is complitly different to what Oasis was, beady eye is more like the Rolling Stones, and Oasis is a modern rock band. I know that everyone will say I am crazy but I think that Liam is a much better singer than Noel. Noel is an amazing guitarist but he can't sing. Beady Eye and High Flying Births are nothing like Oasis. Although I think that High Flying Births is a much better band than Beady Eye, It is just my opinion I'm not trying to be a dick.
@rodrub12 Noel and Liam are both on record as agreeing that Liam has the better voice, but Noel is the better singer. I completely agree with that statement. And Noel by his own admission is far from an amazing guitarist (although still very good). What he is though is a brilliant songwriter with an amazing gift of producing wonderful melodies, something few artists these days possess. I've never heard anything written by Chris Martin which comes close.
Yes, u are correct in saying that Noel is probably the best song writer, he has an an amazing sense of melody, but how can u compare Chris Martin, He is as good song writer as Noel. If u will want to compare Coldplay to something it will be U2. Radiohead is another complitly different stile as this bands, if u want to compare radiohead to something that will be Red Hot Chile Pepers. I need to disagree with u, Coldplay is my second favorite band just after Oasis and I'm a musician and I think th
I agree man! Altough i do like a few Coldplay songs but im not gonna argue with you! :) cause nobody can force ye too listen :) but so & so' Liam will never write a song like Noel does! Noel is one of the best song writers in the world! He always will be! & as much of an Oasis fan i am' i wont listen to Beady Eye! I taught music was dying out until i heard that Noel was back :)
I'm slightly surprised you hate Coldplay. Chris Martin has written some of the most beautiful melodies of the past decade. Bono himself feels Chris Martin is up there with Paul McCartney, Ray Davies and Noel Gallagher as the best melodists in music. I don't disagree with him. The melody for a song like Lovers In Japan is truly beautiful.
first of all i must say you got a very nice channel overall!
i agree with lots of things you say tho i think its a bit harsh to call Beady Eye "just an average band". they got cool rock n roll tunes... just listening to liams voice (which has improved a lot) again makes BE better than most of the shit out there right now. overall your right with saying noel is a much better songwriter than all of the beady eye members.
@NflNCodFreak I'm not sure you can really make the comparison, but for me, I personally enjoy a movie more if I can more easily understand it. Those whacked out movie's like Mulholand Drive for example.... they drive me nuts.
@georgiarose16 i love that movie but yeah i feel the director did it intentionally to screw our minds which is a bit disappointing. im not sure if that movie made any sense. there are some difficult movies ive watched and its quite pleasing to pick up something from those movies. i guess you like things a bit more straightforward?
i dont mind people not liking radiohead, i understand, but just because their work isnt basic and straightforward like oasis it doesnt mean their songs are unnecessarily complex and just trying to be "cool." when i listen to them i find nothing ridiculous about their songs. they flow naturally to many people who like their songs. i would never complain that oasis was too "basic" for me (they werent good being diverse and complex anyway) and i still like their early and late works.
@georgiarose16 there unique and no matter what coldlay ,think they cant emulate them, nobody can.gallaghers music isnt unique ,there are copycats all over the place
@TheLordbanjo It's great you like them and you enjoy that kind of music. Personally, I prefer the simple melodic music of Noel Gallagher. Radiohead/Coldplay in my opinion force their music to be different using needlessly ridiculous chords just so they can have the 'innovative' tag placed on them. Noel refuses to overlook the key element of song writing which is the melody. Lyrics are completely secondary. I hope he continues to make the same type of music forever.
Liams voice has suffered alot from the early days of oasis too he cant hold notes or deliver it like he used to. Liam was awsome in oasis he sang with atitude, He was the rock n roll front man and he brought us somthing really great. Noel was always the man behind the music though, and his voice is still strongand sounding good. And hes still writing and playing great songs. Its in his blood he'll never quit it would be like cutting his arm off.
Hi Pete, I waited till I was having a beer myself before listening to your blog, I felt as if I was right across the table from you. I`m right with you on Coldplay and Radiohead, but for me the millionaire tambourine player Liam Gallagher is.... well, a millionaire tambourine player, and one who should be grateful to his brother for letting him display his only talent in his band! Keep up the good work and I`d love to buy you a beer when I`m next in Oz! Cheers!
I've been following your tutorials for quite a while now as I learn guitar and my favourite Oasis tunes - they are great - thanks so much! Shame you don't like RH or CP. I mean, you like what you like of course, but it's a shame that you can't take the same enjoyment from some of their songs as I do; 'The Bends' is a masterpiece. Oasis, RH & CP are all awesome and for me its different tunes for different moods. Granted though, newer Radiohead stuff is just plain fuckin weird!
@georgiarose16 I've listened to the whole Noel Album...and i have to say its stands right next to what's the story...how would you compare high flying birds album to other oasis albums?
As a player I agree with your view on Beady Eye, good, but average. However it still slays me that Noel continues with chords all beginners use, but still writes top, unique tunes 18 years on! A rare talent! Coldplay, true, I have no time for, but Radiohead? They did produce a few gems. They were my 'local' band at the Jericho Tavern in the late '80's along with Ride. Listen to 'Fake Plastic Trees', simple chords and great to play on an acoustic!
@ShelsleySpecial I've actually covered Fake Plastic Trees.... and Creep. There are a few songs I don't mind. But generally speaking, I dislike most of their music.
@memgrizz1132225033 I love it. Those first two albums are the raw, young, balls out rock and roll Oasis which we all know and love. The later material, although different, I still think is brilliant and the songs are still very high quality. I even loved Dig Out Your Soul which many people seem not to like so much. So personally, I think this album sits proudly amongst all of Oasis' albums. Like I said, not one dud song on there IMO.
@georgiarose16 yeah, i love the rawness of def maybe and the sorta artsy feel of mor glory. however, to me the new album sorta goes in the direction of the importance of being idle, kinda swingy with strong rhythms and an almost western feel, and that's what really gets my attention. and like you said, the songwriting is very consistent and effortless. the only thing ive noticed is, the b-sides dont seem to be what they used to be, but i do like how noel was creative w/ songs like...
Do you have any of your own original songs on youtube? because i would like to see them :) if not, then a tutorial for John Lennon's ''Out The Blue'' would be nice.
I gotta say.. agree with you Georgiarose... ive kindof thought that about the beady eye album for sometime myself..... can definitly listen to it every now & then,,, but it sure isnt a instant classic,,,
Just wanted to say that I totally agree with you, I like Beady Eye but it doesn't compare on Noel's solo album or his Oasis tunes. Kind of hard to compare the two really, Beady Eye is doing a rock thing and Noel is coming from a totally different place these days. Also I totally agree about the simplicity of Noel tunes. That is the genius behind them, the simple chords and great melodies. I firmly believe that simple songs make the best songs.
I'd be interested in u mucking around with four letter word by beady eye...how much do i have to pay you to do ONE beady eye...four letter word, not the roller
@georgiarose16 I love to see Australian oasis fans, it makes me feel that im not a loner in being an aussie who loves Oasis...And with your comment to beady eye, what do you think of Andy as a songwriter (he wrote Millionaire, The Beat Goes On, Four Letter Word & Kill For a Dream)...also i'm a full musician who plays guitar BUT i love beady eye's music, and love noel's music just as much...and Noel i think went to no.1 in the uk charts wooooooooooo...id like it if u reply to this, i learn from u
@001Oasis I think Andy's and Gem's stuff is ok - just not great. Still - way better than most of the other garbage around these days though, and way better than I could ever do myself. But then again, I think most songwriters pale compared to Noel.
I'm not sure why people can get so bent out of shape if someone has a different opinion about music. I'm the biggest Beatles fan on the planet, despite being critical of some of their lesser material.
My girlfriend continually taunts me by saying she believes they're overrated -- and I haven't strangled her yet. (Ok, it might happen someday if she says it when I'm in a particularly pissy mood.) :)
hmm well, i'm a musician and i prefer beady eye, i just find noel a bit boring, i think a lot of oasis fans don't like them because they've moved much further away from the oasis sound than noel has, also i love radiohead but particular in rainbows as i think it's the most accessible of their albums. I just think that after a while slow paced ballads don't sound fresh. Though i do still like noel. (though i do agree coldplay are absolute shite).
@LandonDonovan10 i'm in a young band and my biggest influences are Oasis, The Beatles and Arctic Monkeys. Radiohead are boring and the offspring steal their basslines which says alot about what crowd they appeal too.
Pete you're an absolute legend you give hope to so many people out there trying to learn Oasis and other groups' tunes by making your tutorials so easy to follow. You seem very down to earth and your opinions, even though somewhat controversial, are right on the money. Keep it up mate!
Thanks for the head's-up on the sound-hole measurement by the way. It helped a lot but I decided to go for the Epiphone AJ-500RE in the end. Solid with no laminate and the latest pick-up system in them is the eSonic2 which blends two different pick-ups together with a blend slider to add just enough warmth. I was tempted by the looks of the EJ-200 but I've already got a Takamine jumbo and wanted something different - a bit warmer. Thanks for the help though.
Agree with you 100% about Noel being a musician's musician. The sheer beauty of the simplicity of many of is songs is astounding. "If I Had a Gun" is a good example. The whole song is played with 2 fingers but it's structurally very intricate. The progression even changes for the last chorus entirely but it's not something the average listener would hear. They'd just notice a change of pace. The melody essentially stays the same. Brilliant. One of the best song writers of our times.
@ThePicnicBand That's true. In fact, there are a couple of songs on the album which do the same thing in the final chorus. AKA...Broken Arrow is another. The simplicity of songs is what makes them truly wonderful. Look at some of John Lennon's songs. Imagine for example. So simple. Nothing Radiohead have delivered can touch this for sheer quality.
How many people in oasis dose it take to change a light bulb ?? 3. One to hold the steps .one to go up the steps. And one to ask Paul weller is it ok to change it. Paul is the man, noel will tell you that him self.
Couldnt agree with you more pete why does no one ever address the fact that Radiohead's music is boring and unlistenable? Like those leather-bound Shakespeare sets most people buy their CDs not to play but to leave on display to impress friends, also coldplay's chris martin is annoying and they quite clearly have sold out having a song with rihannna.
@6265ash Yes, I agree. Some bands I think are more interested in pleasing the music critics and the musical snobs, and forget the basics.... that you need to fundamentally have a good tune and melody as the core. This is something The Beatles never forgot. Although they were an extremely innovative band, they always made sure they had the tune. It's like those people who go to art galleries and get all excited about two pieces of metal welded together and call it art. That's Radiohead to me.
@georgiarose16 You shouldn't say sth like that. I'd rather you said sth like i can't understand rh's music...that would make more sense. I love oasis...but it's cheap, reused and imagineless music, just for having fun. The new Beatles are Radiohead...they are ground-breaking. Music is a whole universe that the gallaghers haven't explored. Sit and listen to in rainbows, shit your pants, and then swollow your words. Seriously, you're opinion is as valuable as mine, but don't insult RH like that
@pescadoorabiosoo Sorry mate, but I respectfully disagree with you. People are free to like whatever music they like. We all have opinions. I have been asked for mine many times concerning Radiohead and Coldplay in particular. So rather than write 500 emails, I've said it here. If I think Radiohead, Coldplay or even Justin Bieber's music is shit, then I'll say so. If you think I'm an a-hole, then you're entitled to say so too. I've got no problem with that.
@georgiarose16 i guess you have to have a certain amount of intelligence to understand Radiohead, i used to like oasis when i was 12 but then i grew up and realised they were shit, liam can't sing and all their songs sound the same, then i discovered Radiohead around the time of Kid A and it blew me away. I think if you asked most young bands today who is their biggest influence, Radiohead will always be mentioned, you don't have to like them but must have huge respect for them
@LandonDonavon10 This comment exactly represents my point. Intelligence shouldn't be a factor. Just because someone is more intelligent than the next doesn't mean they should have a better appreciation of music or certain bands over others. People seem to be afraid to admit to liking music which is considered 'basic'. In so many cases, the simple songs are the best. I would have more respect for Radiohead if they focussed on delivering good tunes rather than appeasing the arty farty crowd.
@georgiarose16 i was being a little sarcastic in my comment but i guess you missed that. anyway, you really are talking out of your arse now, i mean, you think radiohead make music for the arty farty crowd. its not their fault they get hijacked by some people who listen to them just to feel cool or whatever. radiohead are the example of making music for themselves and doing what they want and going against the grain to make something special, again you don't have to like it, only respect it
@LandonDonavon10 Sorry mate, I don't have to like it or respect it. I accept a lot of people like Radiohead. I accept they make the music they want to make. I accept that not all people who like Radiohead are the arty farty type. My simple opinion is that they overlook melody which is much to the detriment of the output they produce. On top of that, I find Thom Yorke's voice annoying, much like a cat being strangled. If you think their music is something special, then I am happy for you.
by the way, even noel, whilst loving to have a digg at radiohead because he is a bit envious of them, does find the time to always admit they have have some classic songs and admits to being blown away by their live gigs. he likes to have a go but deep down he has a lot of respect for them. on a postive note, i would like to agree with you on coldplay who have been getting shittier as the years go on and chris martin is very very annoying at times.
@LandonDonavon10 Yes, I know Noel likes both Radiohead and Coldplay. But I don't necessarily like everything Noel Gallagher likes either. Each to our own.
Perfect, say whatever you want. Maybe you shouldn't insult, and less with that crappy liam-styled argumentation. Even though i enjoy Oasis, with this video you've made me happy...some loved Sgt Peppers, some loved Dark side...some of us can love them both. Radiohead gives me the thrill that pink floyd does. I believe you don't like pink floyd, if i have understood clearly.
(P.S: None of oasis records it's even close in my opinion to Sgt Peppers, it was just for making my point)
@pescadoorabiosoo Yep, you're right. I don't much care for Pink Floyd either for much the same reasons. I find it also to be over-indulgent and over-produced. (Shine On You Crazy Diamond for example??? FFS). Although we do seem to agree on one thing... Sgt Peppers is a brilliant album, far better than any Oasis album.
you could not be more correct. Thank you for all your insights and videos. Your tutorials have helped me learn all of noel's songs....so excited to see him live on the high flying birds tour!!!
i think some people need to calm themselves down on here!!!! everyman is entitled to his opinon and for those of you that are saying "you said coldplay/radiohead are shit, im unsubscribing " , how about grow the f**k up. keep up the good work pete live forever
I love Beady Eye but I agree Noel writes better songs and is more talented than Liam but i'd say Liam is a better singer than Noel :) I'll always prefer Noel because of his Guitar playing and his lyrics :)
Unlike most people here, i totally agree with you Pete...as long as music sounds good and appeals to you as a listener, it doesn't need to be rocket science
I think music is just to listen to it. It's so difficult to say "that is better than that". I've heard Paul Mcartney (who knows something about music) saying that Coldplay is the best band of the momment along with Kassabian. I think you should listen to music, if you like, is good, if you don't, is good too.
@Mlb6389 Noel Gallagher thinks Chris Martin is a great songwriter as well. It doesn't mean I agree with him. I don't dislike Coldplay just to be trendy. I seriously dislike their style of music. I get asked a lot whether I like Coldplay. This is my response and personal opinion.
Well mate, I love your videos and tutorials, but i've gotta say, oasis and noel aren't interesting. As a musician you're always doing tutorials for G-D-C-A songs, which is fine...but Radiohead is another universe, they are not britpop, they don't try hard to sound like nothing...there's amazing music out there, and oasis is fun...but don't get stucked. Fine, you can't get Radiohead. Give Blur a try...it's way more interesting and changing than Oasis. Anyway, thanks for every great tutorial U do
Coldplay are far from shit. It seems to be a common trend to label Coldplay as shit, people think it's almost cool to hate their music. I was one of them a while back, but then I realised I actually enjoy their music and I should make my own assumptions up of them. As for Radiohead being "shit", you're a fucking idiot mate. I don't mind you giving an opinion on something, even if it's an opinion I disagree with. But saying Radiohead are shit like it's a fact pisses me off. Un-subbed.
@weareleeds28 mate - we're all different. You probably like different foods to me too. It's all subjective. I get particularly passionate about music and like to say what I think. :-)
@georgiarose16 yeh i know mate, well im passionate about my music too, anyway ............ av u ever listened to ocean colour scene ? great band, be great if u done some covers of theres ? :)
People are too hard on Liam, he is the greatest tambourine player in the history of the world...ha. It's pretty simple in my book, Noel is the one with the songs and the talent and the actually guitar playing ability, Liam had, and I say HAD a better voice and played the part of the frontman. Comparing the two records is a joke, HIgh Flying Birds is great and Beady Eye is just weak. Beady Eye is what Oasis would have been without Noels songs. Oasis w/Noels songs were all-time great
well said about Radiohead, i cant stand their music either, and same with coldplay! Annoys me so much when Radiohead get all the praise they get, when i fact its only really Creep that they're well known for. I just utterly hate their music as its so dam depressing, its music that you can only enjoy when your pissed with a bottle of vodka and a needle in your arm
you forgot to mention the other musical genius richard ashcroft.......coldplay have done some great songs but abit too commercial but have you listened to moving to mars what a choon that is sounds abit pink floydish ,radiohead high n dry classic song, noel can do no wrong ....watching him on wed and cant fckin wait .
Coldplay is shit, I totally agree. Their first album was good, the rest stinks. But man, don't say Radiohead is shit, please. Listen to Ok Computer, listen to Hail To The Thief, those are absolute masterpieces, you won't find any other band with this sound. I'm not saying they're on top of everything, but at least they have their own identity, they built it up through the years, and now you can say that they don't look like anybody. This isn't "complicated brit-pop". This isn't brit pop anymore.
@SOLaharl Yeah, I've got OK Computer and have listened to it a fair few times. I know it appeals to lots of people, but I'm afraid I'm not one of them. There are a few decent tracks there, but mostly I find listening to it a bit of a tough slog. I find Thom Yorke's voice quite painful, in much the same way as Chris Martin actually. In artistic terms, I would say Radiohead paint abstracts, whereas Noel would paint portraits or landscapes in fine detail. Unsurprisingly, I prefer the latter.
@georgiarose16 Yes, that's EXACTLY it ! Yorke's music relies on the listener's imagination, and Oasis uses more precise landscapes, it's up to the listener to choose between those two :)
@Jangoski Absolutely not. It's just a matter of tastes, it depends on how you enjoy music, do you want to get lost on it, or do you want to get on an "organized" trip ? That's all, I never said Radiohead was better than Oasis.
Ugh, Finally somebody agrees with me about Coldplay.
I prefer Noel, Noels newest album is fantastic, best song I bought all year. Though I do like Beady Eye. But Oasis to me, I can't get into. They have FANTASTIC songs. Don't get me wrong. I like Oasis, everybody loves Wonderwall. But to me High Flying Birds and Beady Eye are much better.
But I like your channel. You do Noel, Oasis, Beatles and Robbie. That's fine by me.
Beady Eye adequately filled the gap from the Oasis split to Noel's Solo album. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't dislike their album, but i hope their next one will be much better, bit heavier and maybe a bit more creative. Noels album is superb.
You know... I'm an Oasis, Radiohead and Noel fan and gotta say... If your a "musician" you'll love the simplicity of Wonderwall and would be atracted by the complex of Paranoid Android. When i wanna chill i just play Champagne Supernova, when i wanna learn some new chords and different styles, I play Radiohead. I just don't agree with Radiohead being shit...
PS: I'm not into Coldplay as much but there're songs (Spies, Trouble, Highspeed, Don't Panic) that tell me "Coldplay isn't shit"
@andre230994 Maybe saying Radiohead is 'shit' is a bit harsh. I mean, there are a few Radiohead songs I don't mind, but on the whole, I think they try too hard. They don't focus enough on melody, and seem more intent on pleasing the music critics by forcing themselves to use unusual chords and worrying too much about their lyrics. Coldplay on the other hand I just can't tolerate. It's just elevator music to me.
@andre230994 to be fair GR16 didn't describe anything as being shit or call anything shit in the vid. He said shit 4 times in the way I use a lot too. If you replace each "shit" with the word "stuff" as in good shit = good stuff then it makes sense and it's not derogatory. I agree with the general opinion though, some music just doesn't have the bounce and coldplay is it. Some of their stuff, or shit, is good but plenty of it I can't bear listening to.
I know you're not entirely keen on covering the Beady Eye stuff, but just a simple question: what do you think their best song would be, the one that gets the closest to 'grabbing' you?
Well my take on things is that Noel would of been successful without Liam but Liam isn't much without Noel. Plus, I really like Noel's singing. Whenever he does an acoustic of his songs and sings they sound great. Just my 2 cents!
I prefer Beady Eye cus it's rock n' roll, as Noel it's a bit dancey but i still love Noel. Also i play bass an guitar so i am a musician of a small degree :P

Lot of British broadsheet newspapers rated their album better than some of the last Oasis albums and I don't quite go with that but I hope both do well.
subsahara121 2 months ago
Noel's ok - our old bassist a girl has met him and she liked him . . . . . do you rate The Morning Son - personally I found that a quality song - same as Born on a Different Cloud on the 5th album. Noel has better songs for sure but Gem and Andys tracks I mentioned I think are on a par with a lot of the tracks Noel wrote for *later* albums - not the first 2 albums or the B sides of those albums . . . . . .
I think its better this way without Oasis as we get more music.
subsahara121 2 months ago
Beady Eye just give it time and judge them on the next album first album was a bit of a rush but if Oasis had put out the Roller people would love it. I think there is a lot of ppl following the media on the idea they can't do anything without Noel. Technically I rate Andy and Gem far better as musicians. Then Noel is left handed and plays the guitar right handed. Odd man for doing that but best songwriter we had in 20 years.
subsahara121 2 months ago
@subsahara121 I agree with some of what you say. I agree Beady Eye's album was rushed. I agree Gem and Andy are great musicians and technically superior to Noel. I don't think though they come even close in the songwriting stakes though. I don't think even their best songs come close to Noel's. And personally, I think The Roller is Beady Eye's worst song.... but that's just me. I know Noel likes the song though, so go figure. I do hope they release a great 2nd album though.
georgiarose16 2 months ago
Good video coming from someone whos played 14 years and into technical stuff like Vai and Satriani and plays it too. Chord progression to the Morning Son is great. I think honestly we have to wait until the 2nd Beady Eye album to know but after repeat listens I'd say its a good album if not very good. But it's not "great". Noel's album still listening to it . . . . . best song was a B side - Game of Genius. Say Noels is better but Beady Eye's is a very good debut I wouldnt class it as average
subsahara121 2 months ago

Although I think that High Flying Births is a much better band than Beady Eye, It is just my opinion I'm not trying to be a dick.
rodrub12 2 months ago
@rodrub12 Noel and Liam are both on record as agreeing that Liam has the better voice, but Noel is the better singer. I completely agree with that statement. And Noel by his own admission is far from an amazing guitarist (although still very good). What he is though is a brilliant songwriter with an amazing gift of producing wonderful melodies, something few artists these days possess. I've never heard anything written by Chris Martin which comes close.
georgiarose16 2 months ago
Yes, u are correct in saying that Noel is probably the best song writer, he has an an amazing sense of melody, but how can u compare Chris Martin, He is as good song writer as Noel. If u will want to compare Coldplay to something it will be U2. Radiohead is another complitly different stile as this bands, if u want to compare radiohead to something that will be Red Hot Chile Pepers. I agree man! Altough i do like a few Coldplay songs but im not gonna argue with you! :) cause nobody can force ye too listen :) but so & so' Liam will never write a song like Noel does! Nirvanabro95 3 months ago
The melody for a song like Lovers In Japan is truly beautiful.

i agree with lots of things you say tho i think its a bit harsh to call Beady Eye "just an average band". they got cool rock n roll tunes... just listening to liams voice (which has improved a lot) again makes BE better than most of the shit out there right now. overall your right with saying noel is a much better songwriter than all of the beady eye members.

good melody does not have to equate with simplicity and easy listening. thats like saying easy to watch films are superior.
NflNCodFreak 3 months ago
@NflNCodFreak I'm not sure you can really make the comparison, but for me, I personally enjoy a movie more if I can more easily understand it. Those whacked out movie's like Mulholand Drive for example.... they drive me nuts.
georgiarose16 3 months ago
@georgiarose16 i love that movie but yeah i feel the director did it intentionally to screw our minds which is a bit disappointing. im not sure if that movie made any sense. there are some difficult movies ive watched and its quite pleasing to pick up something from those movies. i guess you like things a bit more straightforward?
NflNCodFreak 3 months ago
@NflNCodFreak yeah mate - I'm not what you would call the 'arty-farty' type.
georgiarose16 3 months ago
i dont mind people not liking radiohead, i understand, but just because their work isnt basic and straightforward like oasis it doesnt mean their songs are unnecessarily complex and just trying to be "cool." when i listen to them i find nothing ridiculous about their songs. they flow naturally to many people who like their songs. i would never complain that oasis was too "basic" for me (they werent good being diverse and complex anyway) and i still like their early and late works.

TheLordbanjo 3 months ago

001Oasis 4 months ago
As a player I agree with your view on Beady Eye, good, but average. However it still slays me that Noel continues with chords all beginners use, but still writes top, unique tunes 18 years on! A rare talent! Coldplay, true, I have no time for, but Radiohead? They did produce a few gems. They were my 'local' band at the Jericho Tavern in the late '80's along with Ride. Listen to 'Fake Plastic Trees', simple chords and great to play on an acoustic!
It's all subjective though mate!

hey peter, how do you think the new album stacks up against oasis classics like morning glory and definitely maybe?
memgrizz1132225033 4 months ago
@memgrizz1132225033 I love it. Those first two albums are the raw, young, balls out rock and roll Oasis which we all know and love. The later material, although different, I still think is brilliant and the songs are still very high quality. I even loved Dig Out Your Soul which many people seem not to like so much. So personally, I think this album sits proudly amongst all of Oasis' albums. Like I said, not one dud song on there IMO.
georgiarose16 4 months ago
@georgiarose16 yeah, i love the rawness of def maybe and the sorta artsy feel of mor glory. however, to me the new album sorta goes in the direction of the importance of being idle, kinda swingy with strong rhythms and an almost western feel, and that's what really gets my attention. and like you said, the songwriting is very consistent and effortless. the only thing ive noticed is, the b-sides dont seem to be what they used to be, but i do like how noel was creative w/ songs like...

I think the Beady Eye album is very good , apart from 2 average songs by Gem.
Andy"s songs on the album are all great, it would have been great if him and Noel would have worked more closely in the Oasis days.
Noel's album is great apart from the drumming which is rubbish ( bring back Tony MacCarroll ) .

ThePicnicBand 4 months ago
Agree with you 100% about Noel being a musician's musician. The sheer beauty of the simplicity of many of is songs is astounding. "If I Had a Gun" is a good example. The whole song is played with 2 fingers but it's structurally very intricate. The progression even changes for the last chorus entirely but it's not something the average listener would hear. They'd just notice a change of pace. The melody essentially stays the same. Brilliant. One of the best song writers of our times.
ThePicnicBand 4 months ago
@ThePicnicBand That's true. In fact, there are a couple of songs on the album which do the same thing in the final chorus. AKA...Broken Arrow is another. The simplicity of songs is what makes them truly wonderful. Look at some of John Lennon's songs. Imagine for example. So simple. Nothing Radiohead have delivered can touch this for sheer quality.

6265ash 4 months ago
@6265ash Yes, I agree. Some bands I think are more interested in pleasing the music critics and the musical snobs, and forget the basics.... that you need to fundamentally have a good tune and melody as the core. This is something The Beatles never forgot. Although they were an extremely innovative band, they always made sure they had the tune. It's like those people who go to art galleries and get all excited about two pieces of metal welded together and call it art. That's Radiohead to me.
georgiarose16 4 months ago
@georgiarose16 You shouldn't say sth like that. I'd rather you said sth like i can't understand rh's music...that would make more sense. I love oasis...but it's cheap, reused and imagineless music, just for having fun. The new Beatles are Radiohead...they are ground-breaking. Music is a whole universe that the gallaghers haven't explored. Sit and listen to in rainbows, shit your pants, and then swollow your words. Seriously, you're opinion is as valuable as mine, but don't insult RH like that
pescadoorabiosoo 4 months ago
@pescadoorabiosoo Sorry mate, but I respectfully disagree with you. People are free to like whatever music they like. We all have opinions. I have been asked for mine many times concerning Radiohead and Coldplay in particular. So rather than write 500 emails, I've said it here. If I think Radiohead, Coldplay or even Justin Bieber's music is shit, then I'll say so. If you think I'm an a-hole, then you're entitled to say so too. I've got no problem with that.
georgiarose16 4 months ago
@georgiarose16 i guess you have to have a certain amount of intelligence to understand Radiohead, i used to like oasis when i was 12 but then i grew up and realised they were shit, liam can't sing and all their songs sound the same, then i discovered Radiohead around the time of Kid A and it blew me away. I think if you asked most young bands today who is their biggest influence, Radiohead will always be mentioned, you don't have to like them but must have huge respect for them
LandonDonavon10 4 months ago
@LandonDonavon10 This comment exactly represents my point. Intelligence shouldn't be a factor. Just because someone is more intelligent than the next doesn't mean they should have a better appreciation of music or certain bands over others. People seem to be afraid to admit to liking music which is considered 'basic'. In so many cases, the simple songs are the best. I would have more respect for Radiohead if they focussed on delivering good tunes rather than appeasing the arty farty crowd.
georgiarose16 4 months ago
@georgiarose16 i was being a little sarcastic in my comment but i guess you missed that. anyway, you really are talking out of your arse now, i mean, you think radiohead make music for the arty farty crowd. its not their fault they get hijacked by some people who listen to them just to feel cool or whatever. radiohead are the example of making music for themselves and doing what they want and going against the grain to make something special, again you don't have to like it, only respect it
LandonDonavon10 4 months ago
@LandonDonavon10 Sorry mate, I don't have to like it or respect it. I accept a lot of people like Radiohead. I accept they make the music they want to make. I accept that not all people who like Radiohead are the arty farty type. My simple opinion is that they overlook melody which is much to the detriment of the output they produce. On top of that, I find Thom Yorke's voice annoying, much like a cat being strangled. If you think their music is something special, then I am happy for you.
georgiarose16 4 months ago
by the way, even noel, whilst loving to have a digg at radiohead because he is a bit envious of them, does find the time to always admit they have have some classic songs and admits to being blown away by their live gigs. he likes to have a go but deep down he has a lot of respect for them. on a postive note, i would like to agree with you on coldplay who have been getting shittier as the years go on and chris martin is very very annoying at times.
LandonDonavon10 4 months ago
@LandonDonavon10 Yes, I know Noel likes both Radiohead and Coldplay. But I don't necessarily like everything Noel Gallagher likes either. Each to our own.
georgiarose16 4 months ago
Perfect, say whatever you want. Maybe you shouldn't insult, and less with that crappy liam-styled argumentation. Even though i enjoy Oasis, with this video you've made me happy...some loved Sgt Peppers, some loved Dark side...some of us can love them both. Radiohead gives me the thrill that pink floyd does. I believe you don't like pink floyd, if i have understood clearly.
(P.S: None of oasis records it's even close in my opinion to Sgt Peppers, it was just for making my point)
pescadoorabiosoo 4 months ago
@pescadoorabiosoo Yep, you're right. I don't much care for Pink Floyd either for much the same reasons. I find it also to be over-indulgent and over-produced.

Completely right about the Musicians prefering Noel Gallagher to Beady eye mate

can u do a coldplay cover plz lol!!!!

Un-subbed.

for slagging off coldplay youve now lost a subscriber ..... sorry just dont agree,

@weareleeds28 mate - we're all different. You probably like different foods to me too. It's all subjective. I get particularly passionate about music and like to say what I think. :-)

Oasis w/Noels songs were all-time great
ak231510 4 months ago
@ak231510 Thom Yorke is actually a better tambourine player and everything else
LandonDonavon10 4 months ago
@LandonDonavon10 i was joking, Liam sux i was just referring to the fact that for the music all he did was play the tambourine.
ak231510 4 months ago
@ak231510 i guessed that, i attempted some humour myself but obviously failed, same liam can't outdo thom even in the tambourine
LandonDonavon10 4 months ago
well said about Radiohead, i cant stand their music either, and same with coldplay! Annoys me so much when Radiohead get all the praise they get, when i fact its only really Creep that they're well known for. I just utterly hate their music as its so dam depressing, its music that you can only enjoy when your pissed with a bottle of vodka and a needle in your arm
1everton2 4 months ago
you forgot to mention the other musical genius richard ashcroft.......coldplay have done some great songs but abit too commercial but have you listened to moving to mars what a choon that is sounds abit pink floydish ,radiohead high n dry classic song, noel can do no wrong ....watching him on wed and cant fckin wait .

SOLaharl 4 months ago
@SOLaharl Yeah, I've got OK Computer and have listened to it a fair few times. I know it appeals to lots of people, but I'm afraid I'm not one of them. There are a few decent tracks there, but mostly I find listening to it a bit of a tough slog. I find Thom Yorke's voice quite painful, in much the same way as Chris Martin actually. In artistic terms, I would say Radiohead paint abstracts, whereas Noel would paint portraits or landscapes in fine detail. Unsurprisingly, I prefer the latter.
georgiarose16 4 months ago
@georgiarose16 Yes, that's EXACTLY it ! Yorke's music relies on the listener's imagination, and Oasis uses more precise landscapes, it's up to the listener to choose between those two :)
SOLaharl 4 months ago
@SOLaharl So you would say that Radiohead's listeners are more intelectual and imaginative? Interesting.
Jangoski 4 months ago 2
@Jangoski Absolutely not. It's just a matter of tastes, it depends on how you enjoy music, do you want to get lost on it, or do you want to get on an "organized" trip ? That's all, I never said Radiohead was better than Oasis.
SOLaharl 4 months ago
Ugh, Finally somebody agrees with me about Coldplay.
I prefer Noel, Noels newest album is fantastic, best song I bought all year. Though I do like Beady Eye. But Oasis to me, I can't get into. They have FANTASTIC songs. Don't get me wrong. I like Oasis, everybody loves Wonderwall. But to me High Flying Birds and Beady Eye are much better.
But I like your channel. You do Noel, Oasis, Beatles and Robbie. That's fine by me.
MrDan2593 4 months ago
Beady Eye adequately filled the gap from the Oasis split to Noel's Solo album. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't dislike their album, but i hope their next one will be much better, bit heavier and maybe a bit more creative. Noels album is superb.

Radiohead are the most over rated band in history imo! Genuinely cannot see the attraction of them.

@TheAdbax totally agree mate.....
kazzafar 4 months ago
PS: I'm not into Coldplay as much but there're songs (Spies, Trouble, Highspeed, Don't Panic) that tell me "Coldplay isn't shit"
andre230994 4 months ago
@andre230994 Maybe saying Radiohead is 'shit' is a bit harsh. I mean, there are a few Radiohead songs I don't mind, but on the whole, I think they try too hard. They don't focus enough on melody, and seem more intent on pleasing the music critics by forcing themselves to use unusual chords and worrying too much about their lyrics. Coldplay on the other hand I just can't tolerate. It's just elevator music to me.
georgiarose16 4 months ago
@andre230994 to be fair GR16 didn't describe anything as being shit or call anything shit in the vid. He said shit 4 times in the way I use a lot too. If you replace each "shit" with the word "stuff" as in good shit = good stuff then it makes sense and it's not derogatory. I agree with the general opinion though, some music just doesn't have the bounce and coldplay is it. Some of their stuff, or shit, is good but plenty of it I can't bear listening to.
11thhourreprieve 4 months ago
I know you're not entirely keen on covering the Beady Eye stuff, but just a simple question: what do you think their best song would be, the one that gets the closest to 'grabbing' you?
link73x 4 months ago
@link73x World Outside My Room is a song I liked from the first listen. The Roller is the worst. I just makes me cringe.

Well my take on things is that Noel would of been successful without Liam but Liam isn't much without Noel. Plus, I really like Noel's singing. Whenever he does an acoustic of his songs and sings they sound great. Just my 2 cents!
