He makes it look easy because the guy was 6-3 225 he ran a solid 4.4 and in football its all about game speed.2105 yards in one season the most ever, 1800+ yards in his rookie season still a record, he was the fastest guy to get to 10,000 yards. One of the greatest RB's out of TEXAS.
he might be a beast but that D be grab ass tackling lol makes me wish i could of played ball in 1977 instead of 2010 might could of stuck eric dickerson
its funny how I was autograph hunting down players in south beach during the superbowl ,and guess who I see walking down with a cigar without being recognized? eric dickerson!! nice guy!
Good stuff. I am working back to see how great backs really were when I was either young or not yet born to gain a real perspective. Eric Dickerson is as underrated as they come.
Yea but Muarice Greene didnt play football either. A 4.12 is scary for a guy who's 6'1 230. No matter what position it is. Bo Jacskon was a freak of nature. The best physical sportsman to walk this planet.
@90EMC James Jett was an Olympian who played for the West Virginia Mountaneers and he ran a 4.2 40 yard dash...Does anyone know what the Rocket Ismael ran the 40 in....? I know D. Sanders and R. Moss ran it close to that speed too
Donovan Bailey won the Olympic 100 meter dash in 1996. He was clocked at the 40 yard mark in 4.63, according to Sports Illustrated. My 1978 Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine has Eric Dickerson as 6-3, 205, and it says he runs a 4.45 40 yard dash. No one has ever run a sub-4 40.
Eric Dickerson was 6'3 220 and ran a 4.3 forty. He was incredibly fast, but he didn't look as fast because his strides were so long and graceful. It looked like he ran 4.5 when your watching, but it felt like 4.3 when you were chasing him.
Well actually Bo Jackson was about 6 2 ran a 4.12 40 and was 235 pounds and could have easily been the best runningback in NFL history if he focused just on football and didn't get injures
Why cuz im using chat-slang on a website. Once again that just proves more of ya ignorants. And, it dont matter if it was had-timed he still ran it. If it wasnt hand-timed but AC he wouldve still ran 4.2,which is stil faster than alot of little ass backs today.
No, mostly because you think a hand timed 4.12 would translate to a 4.2 and because even when you aren't "using chat-slang" you don't know how to spell (is "ignorants" the plural of ignorant?)
I typed fast. You seem to want to correct grammar. In the statement above you typed " your prove your stupidity with each post." That doesn't even make sense.
Wow, nice civility. Are you a high school kids yourself?
I didn't say he wasn't great. In fact, i said he WAS great. I was at SMU when he was there, and watched him with amazement for four years.
However, the TRUTH is, it took him a season in the SWC to adjust to playing against bigger guys. He was used to just trucking everyone at Sealy HS and he couldn't do that against, say, Mike Singletary or Kenneth Sims.
He did gain a ton of strength and his talent took over from soph year.
Are you one of those dummies who only believes his current era players are the greatest thing ever?? Remember, one of these days, kids are going to be wathching LT laughing at how "dumb" he looks and how "bad" he was...Dickerson was one of the greatest running backs ever. Great size and even better skills set....
The defensive players, even the linemen in the NFL, are just too quick and athletic for the option to be effective at that level. Too much closing speed on the defensive side.
A man amongst boys, same when he was at SMU. The guy was such a joy to watch, one of the most fluid RBs to ever play the game. I always liked to say he was a thoroughbred because of his running style. Good RBs aren't always the best technical runners but Eric D sure was.

Hate tell to you that this was not Dickerson last game. The Sealy/Wylie state championship game was in Austin in 1978.
Maybe this was a playoff game from 1977.

UMMM, Bo Jackson never came CLOSE to running a 4.12 40. That's absurd.

Actually he did run a 4.12 40. It is the fastest recorded 40 time from the combine ever. Look it up.
