I say : Do not reject the Eucharist his Body which is the bread given to us. You may not be catholic but you cannot deny Jesus presence in the Eucharist because he will ask you why u denied it! I do believe that tradition and scripture are important because I am a catholic
I would just like to point out that since Jesus is the Head of the Church that he founded the first official Church reference to the Eucharist was about 27 - 33 A.D. When he himself stated that this IS my body and this IS my blood.
You are wrong on your dates lamritee, the first Official Church reference to the Eucharist as the Body of Christ dates to the the first Council of Nicea in 325AD. Also it is referenced multiple times in the Early Church writings before this. Go to Catholic dot com and read the article on the real presence. I will go to your site.
As you know October 13 is the 90th anniversay of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima.
Churches around the world are having public Rosary at noon that day to commemarate the event. Check your with your local diocese to see if there is one nearby you can attend.
And if not, it is still not too late to organize one!
Those who do not believe in Christ's church now (the One, Holy, Catholic & Apostolic Church) WILL believe when they meet their maker... only then, sadly, it will be too late. Pray for those who are rejecting the gift of Faith... I will be ending the comment sessions if I figure out how. In the mean time, pray for me!
I know this was like 8 months ago when you made this comment. I just want to say that I agree with you about what you said those who don't believe in Chirst's Church (the One, Holy Catholic & Apostolic Church) will believe when they meet their Maker. That's so very true. I wish all Catholics could easily accept the Tridentine Mass. All because of the Novus Ordo, it has caused great division among us. So sad. We pray for them.
lametree - and you lack faith in Jesus teaching of his eternal sacrifice in the Eucharist - the same lack of faith by diciples who walked away from him because his teaching was "too hard" to accept.
now your just scratching at foolishness. The eucharist is not eternal it is not mentioned in the bible it wasnt until 1215AD that transubstancation became your adoptive heresy. like i say eternal-productions. org/catholicism .html....
lametree - 1Cor 10:16, "The cup of the blessing that we bless, IS IT NOT THE SHARING OF THE BLOOD OF CHRIST? And the bread that we break, IS IT NOT THE PARTAKING OF THE BODY OF THE LORD?"
No symbolism in the first century from St. Paul here in this verse...
lametree - and certainly no symbolism from St. Paul in this verse either - 1Cor 11:27-29, "Therefore, whoever eats this bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily, will be guilty of the Body and the Blood of the Lord. But let a man prove himself, and so let him eat of that bread and drink of the cup; FOR HE WHO EATS AND DRINKS UNWORTHILY, WITHOUT DISTINGUISHING THE BODY, EATS AND DRINKS JUDGMENT (the word is 'damnation' in the King James Bible) TO HIMSELF."
Lametree - Exactly. The disciples that walked away from Jesus' teaching about his eternal sacrifice in the Eucharist are the same people today who lack faith in Jesus' same words 2,000 years later. They rejected the beliefs of the 1st century Christians who received Jesus in the Eucharist then, and the anti-Catholics of today are keeping that tradition alive and well.
Romans 6:10: When thenLord Jesus died, he died to the whole subject of sin ONCE for all.He died to sins claims, its wages , its demands, its penalty. He Finsihed the work (It is finished Heb 10:18 No more an offering left.) and settled the account so perfectly, that it never needs to be repeated. Now that he lives he lives TO GOD (not needing tobe sacraficed again) He lives to God in a new relationship, as the Risen One, in a new sphere where sin can never enter.
lame - If you are making this same old claim that the Catholic Mass "recrucifies" Jesus, then you are completely ignorant of what the Catholic Mass is. It is really amazing as to how, thru the slight of hand with terminology, the anti-Catholic zealots twist words to invent falso accusations such as this. If you want facts and truth regarding the Catholic Mass, get your answers from the Catholic Church, not Jack Chick.
you seem to have an obsession with this Jack Chick, i think i might like him. have a look on eternal-productions dott orgeee they have a great discription of your anti Christ eucharist. To actually believe that Christ is flesh and blood in the wine and bread is far beyond Crazy. Galations 3:2 Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? having begun in the Spirit (john 6:63) are you now being made perfect by the flesh.
There is no atonement left for sin. All a person needs to do is TRUST in Christ for there salvation. Acts 16:31 Believe in Jesus and you will be saved. Acts 8:37 If you believe with all your heart you may, and he answered and said i believe that jesus Christ is the son of God. Romans 6:10 For in that he died, he died unto sin ONCE, but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
Christ is in heaven where it is perfect. No Blood, no sacrafices, no cannibalism, Lev 3:17... The words Christ spoke to us are SPIRIT and they are truth John 6:63 the Spirit gives life, the flesh counts for nothing.. NOTHING.. The words i have Spoken to you are (what?) SPIRIT, AND THEY ARE LIFE.
cannibalism is when you eat the flesh of another person, this has happen while people were still alive and dead. John 6:63 The Spirit gives life, (YES) the Flesh profits (What?) NOTHING, the words i have spoken (to those who remained with him) ARE SPIRIT and they are truth. The Eucharist is a joke.
There were no prods or catholics back then, the unbelievers left because they could not understand the words he was speaking, even his disciples didnt understand, but they knew he had the words of eternal life, Which his words were SPIRITUAL and they were truth. Imagine Jesus in Heaven where it is perfect where there is no suffering, Is suffering NOW on our behalf, Eating the flesh Christ has already provided for my salvation ONCE, by faith I am saved Acts 16:31
For wfl17, i presumed you`re not a Catholic bec. based on your comments , you dont understand the real essence of Holy Mass..Thru Mass, we`re constantly reminded How God loves us through the preaching, passion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ..Keeping these in our hearts will give us the strength, courage and wisdom to do His will.
wfl17- If you spent as much time studying the history of the Mass, as you did watching BMW, then maybe you would have a better understanding of the Mass and God's love for you and the world.
you said it, You REMEMBER his sacrafic. I understand perfectly Hebrews chapter 9 and 10. Where Christ need only suffer once for the sins of the many. Hebrews 9:28 Chrisr was ONCE offered to bear the sins of the many.Hebrews 10:12ONE Sacrafice for sins FOR EVER, How else could he pay for the sins of those left behind after the rapture. When he will return HIMSELF. While those left behind can still be saved
LOL- you sola's are such hypocrites. You accuse the RCC of man made doctrine then you come up with the entirely mand made doctrine of the Rapture.
Newsflash lamtree- Jesus Christ is only returning ONCE, not some secret first time and then again. Also- the whole idea of the Rapature contradicts the Gospel message of suffering for your faith the way Jesus did.
lamtree- just as you sola's always want SPECIFIC biblical verses for support of RCC teachings, so too do I want
a specific biblical passage that describes the Rapture the same way it is depicted in the "Left Behind" series.
Nothing symbolic or implied.
Where in the Bible does it say:
Jesus will come back secretly first, take all the non-Catholic, born again Christians to heaven, then let the anti christ destroy what is left. Oh and this will all be called "The Rapture"
Heb. 2:17; 3:1; 4:14; 8:1; 9:11,25; 10:19,22 - Jesus is repeatedly described as "High Priest." But in order to be a priest, "it is necessary for [Jesus] to have something to offer." Heb. 8:3. This is the offering of the eternal sacrifice of His body and blood to the Father.
Heb. 2:18 - although His suffering is past tense, His expiation of our sins is present tense because His offering is continual. Therefore, He is able (present tense) to help those who are tempted.
Not a daily sacrafice. Hebrews 7:27 who needed NOT DAILY, as those high priests, to offer up sacrafice, first for his own sins, and then for the peoples, for this he did ONCE, when he offered up himself.. Christ finished his new covenant work on Calvary, Christ Sat Down on high to await the manifestation of His triumph over all his enemies. (where he waits)
Christ obtained eternal redemption for us already. Once For all. Hebrews 9:12 1peter 3:18 he suffered once for all sins. not again and again in your eucharist. Hebrews 9:25 Not that he should offer himself often, as the high priest enters the holy place every year with blood of another. he then would have to suffer often since the foundation of the world, but now ONCE at the end of the ages, he HAS Appeared to put AWAY SIN b the sacrafice of Himself
lam- another big lie/misconception/ heresy/ misunderstanding
The Eucharist is not dead flesh. The EUCHARIST is the LIVING GOD. Jesus is ALIVE in the Eucharist. Through the celebration of the Holy Mass we remember his death & sacrifice, we celebrate His Resurection and we wait in JOYFUL hope for His return.
Obviously, you have never been to a Mass. Or are you a fallen away Catholic who never understood the great gift given to you?
So christ held himself in his own hands. How? when the bread they were eating was not Jesus, and could not take away sin. He had not yet been sacraficed on the Cross. And when he had been, he said it IS FINISHED. Have a good Read of Hebrews chapter 9 and 10. The on going sacrafice of Jesus. No, he sits at the right hand of God.
lamritee- 1)read Luke 24:13-35. Not only does it foreshadow the Mass, it also reinforces the fact that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist. They recognized Him at the breaking of the bread.
Since Jesus explained the whole of Scripture to them during their walk, certainly that would have included a description of the Last Supper.
lamritee 2) AND Luke 24 brings full circle to what was first stated in Luke 1:37
The Virgin Birth, the Gospel Miracles, the Resurrection, the Eucharist. All contained in Luke 1:37
Are you of such limited faith you can not understand that? Well, you are not alone, even those in John 6 left because they could not understand/handle Jesus giving us His Body to eat in order to have eternal life.
I dont see the eucharist in lukes gospel nor the bible. What i do read is 1Corinthians 11:24 Do this in REMEMBERANCE of me. 11:25 in REMEMBERANCE. John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life, the FLESH counts For NOTHING, the words i speak to you are SPIRIT and they are LIFE. LEV 3:17 you shall eat neither fat NOR BLOOD. Christ suffered once for all sins 1peter3:18.. Not constantly in youe eucharist
I dont see the need for the on going sacrafic of Jesus, because he said, It IS Finished. For by one sacrafice of himself he has perfected for all time those who draw near to him. Explain to me What he ment when he said it is finished? He sat down at the right hand of God, were he REMAINS until his enemys are made to be his footstool. Read Hebrews 9:25 Not that he should offer himself often
Jesus in Glory Perpetually Offers the Father His Sacrifice on Our Behalf
Rev. 1 to 22 - Jesus is described as the "Lamb" 28 times in the book of Revelation. This is because Jesus emphasizes His sacrifice in heaven and in His Holy Catholic Church.
Rev. 1:13 - Jesus is clothed in heaven with a long robe and golden girdle like the Old Testament priests who offered animal sacrifices. See Exodus 28:4.
Rev. 3:20 as Priest and Paschal Lamb, our Lord shares the Eucharistic meal with us to seal His New Covenant. Through the covenant of his body and blood, we are restored to the Father and become partakers of the divine nature.
Rev 5:6 this verse tells us that Jesus in His glory still looks like a lamb who was slain. Also, Jesus is "standing" as though a Lamb who was slain. Lambs that are slain lie down. This odd depiction shows Jesus stands at the Altar as our eternal priest in forever offering Himself to the Father for our salvation
Naw, He sat down at the righe hand of the Father and said, Hebrews 9:26 But now ONCE in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrafice of himself. Hebrews 10:10 ONCE for all. Hebrews 9:12 But by his own blood he entered in ONCE into the holy place, HAVING OBTAINED ETERNAL REDEMPTION FOR US. Hebrews 10:12 ONE SACRAFICE, FOR SINS FOR EVER. 1 john 5:13 so that we can know that we HAVE eternal life.
The lamb symbolizes Christ, The sacrafice is finished, Hebrews 10:10-12-13 by the which will we are santified through the 1(Offering)of the body of Jesus Christ ONCE FOR ALL. But this man after he had offered ONE sacrafice for sins FOREVER, sat down at the right hand of God (where he remains, (hello)From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by ONE OFFERING,he hath prefected.. he prefected a way for those who draw near to God through his ONE sacrafice.
That answers nothing to support your claim. In quoting that verse i could say anything, and back it up using that cerse. The Mass is the ongoing sacrafice of Christ. Contradicts what Jesus said. His sacrafice was ONE For ALL TIME Hebrews 10:10 Hebrews 7:27 one offering, not daily.

Rest assured, Holy Communion is NOT cannibalism. That is when you take a dead body, cook it and eat it.
The Eucharist is the LIVING Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. If He was with us as a human, surely he can be with us in simple bread.
And speaking of John read 6:66- think that has more to do with the Anti-Christ then anything in Revalation.

As Rock pointed out- read John 6:52-59
1) When the Jews deny what Jesus is saying, he gets more assertive. He NEVER mentions symbolism.
2) He states in vs53- "Amen, Amen I say to you" before he expands on the Bread of Life.
Think about it- in all the Gospels, when Jesus starts out with "Amen, Amen, I say to you..." He means business. Amen=Believe.
GraceBeMine 4 years ago
Funny thing about John chapter 6.
As Jesus is talking about eating His Body, people recoil at it. But does he try and explain to them to make them feel better?
No, he becomes more assertive.
Then, deciples (who think like you do) left and what did Jesus do?
He asked His Apostles if they would leave too.
Peter tells him, where else would we go?
That is Protestant/Catholic thinking in a nutshell. The prots leave by thier pride & lack of faith. The truly faithful stay.

Great way of explaining the true nature of the mass. Thank You, and God Bless!

Very nice. The misspelling, "sacrafice", notwithstanding!
