Hi! Did you watch any of Rachel Brice's other videos? They are an exquisite display of grace, control and sensuality. Though she uses fast movements in many of her performances (perfectly, I might add ^_^), her dance is primarily about the smooth, dark slow aspect of Tribal belly dance. There is nothing sexually vulgar about her. This isn't a performance, she was just having fun! In this video she was just being playful backstage. belly dancer is a western term. egyptians call it oriental dancing. unfortantly this isnt popular in egypt and they dont consider this form of dance oriental. but the roots of this dance stem from old bedouin saudi arabs.and other forms of tribal blends. harem dancers, women practicing majic who used this form for seduction, it has different blends of history.

As far as technical moves go,sure,but their styles are so different. And as for Tribal not being actual bellydance? Yoga is definitely a wise decision. It teaches how to control muscles (which is obviously needed to do the things Rachel Brice does - even she does yoga) and it gives a nice stretch to make you flexible. I do yoga before practicing belly dance, and it makes a difference :) Good luck and happy belly dancing.

Actually, the lady CAN dance.  Her name is Rachel Brice and she's one of the most popular and successful American Belly Dancers, known for her Tribal styles and Yoga incorporations. Go rent a copy of one of the Bellydance Superstars performances, on DVD (I think she joined in their third run) and you will see incredible performances by her and other dancers. Also, you could try www.theindigo.net. This video, btw, was taken with her messing around backstage, not a cued performance.
