I had to watch this film because P.Verhoeven was its director. He made brilliant RoboCop, Totall Recall and Basic Instinct. And yes, Starship Troopers was great. Casper Van Dien, Dina Meyer & Jake Busey did a great job. Critics gave many negative reviews to this movie but I think ST is one of the most underrated Sci-Fi films of the 90's (along with Strange Days, Alien 3, Them, Lawnmower Man, Virtuosity, FutureSport, The Time Shifters, The Apocalypse, The Arrival, Mimic, Virus, Space Truckers)

Man. I remember when I first saw this movie. I thought to myself, "This movie is amazing". Now, just a few days ago, I went back and watched it, and I'm still astounded. The effects in this are just so much better than the other ones. SST 2 isn't too bad, but it isn't quite as good as the first. SST 3 made me want to tear my eyes out. The effects look like shit, the cast is shit, and the story is shit. It's so bad, no wonder they released it directly to DVD.

This filmis AWSOME, I cant wait to see the 2nd & 3rd. The only bad tghing about this film was these wasent enought of the giant piro maniac bugs in the film. I especialy like how the bugs in the film have a magor victory in the beggining and kill thousands of people. Bad guy are usualy realy cool. The film is just plane fun and non seriouse, a film to loose yourself in.

What really pisses me off in this movie is how they have so much technology to travel through space and yet they keep the same warfare tech as the year this was made: puny, lame machine guns, might as well have no armor because what they're wearing is useless anyway.. and NO robots whatsoever.

Anyway, I enjoyed this movie a lot when it came out, but it has no depth and survivability.

I can't believe how they raped the franchise with making the disastrous 2nd and 3rd movie. Would have been so awesome to seen a worthy sequel, with script by Ed Neuimer and directing by Paul Verhoeven. But instead they had to go fuck things up.....thanks for soiling the good name of the first movie, which happpens to be my favourite sci-fi movie of all times.
