Turns out in that play, the nudge did not give the flames an advantage, but it could have. Conroy skated to the middle of the crease for that reason, he got caught, no point whining about it.

Salo did not push him into the crease. He pushed past Salo to get into the crease (Salo was basically trying to make sure he didn't crash right into Luongo) and once in the crease, shoved Luongo's left shoulder to throw him off in case of a shot. Very blatant. Very much Goaltender interference. Great call by the ref.
Haha, funny thing is that's 10x more interference then the 3 goalie interferences the Wings got against the Sharks in the first game of the SCF of the playoffs this year.

A player should not contact the goalie in his crease at all. Even if the goalie is outside the crease and a player brushes against him he still gets a penalty. That isn't right.

this is not that bad of a call seeing as the flame player skated on his own into the crease and made contact with the goalie. PS banging on the glass while in the penalty box is actualy a penalty all by itself so by the rule book this is a double minor.

First off, being an on-ice hockey referee is one of the most difficult jobs there is. Second, referees who are skilled enough to make it to the NHL are the best in the world, and train for YEARS to make it to where they are (refereeing is an extremely competitive business)
I think the referees are right on this one. The point is that, no matter what, it is a player's responsibility to avoid making any contact with the goaltender, whether the goalie is in his crease or not.
In this case, the collision could have been avoided by braking, or stepping aside.

@Kartracer6 I saw that. It was complete bullshit, who's going to avoid contact in that situation? Not quite as bad as the goalie interference calls against the Wings throughout the Wings vs Sharks series though, because Hossa actually made contact, lol.

A player should not contact the goalie in his crease at all. Even if the goalie is outside the crease and a player brushes against him he still gets a penalty. That isn't right.

i'm a ref and there is no way in hell that this is a penalty.
he barely touched him and in no way impeded his movement or ability to stop the puck.
but, all refs are human, and we make mistakes.

Refs are human and make mistakes, I've seen people say refs favorite a certain team and at times the refs will fucking let that team get messed up and not call penalties for it, they dont see the entire thing, plus technically this is interference, but I wouldn't have called it if I were a ref.

this is not that bad of a call seeing as the flame player skated on his own into the crease and made contact with the goalie. PS banging on the glass while in the penalty box is actualy a penalty all by itself so by the rule book this is a double minor.

the chicago play was because the puck had already gone in when contact was made plus Ladd was pushed into the goalie. This is if'y It needs a better view I can't tell if he affects the goalie. From this angle it looks as if he purposely runs into him but I can't tell maybe he got pushed

First off, being an on-ice hockey referee is one of the most difficult jobs there is. Second, referees who are skilled enough to make it to the NHL are the best in the world, and train for YEARS to make it to where they are (refereeing is an extremely competitive business)

I think the referees are right on this one. The point is that, no matter what, it is a player's responsibility to avoid making any contact with the goaltender, whether the goalie is in his crease or not.
In this case, the collision could have been avoided by braking, or stepping aside.

refverhoog, i agree with you...im not positive but i dont believe that it's only considered interfering with the goalie if you knock him over, i would think that even if you intentionally bump into him and bump him off stride it should be a penalty...im sick of people acting like nhl ref's are part of some conspiracy...no im sure it is very hard being on that ice staying out of the way of the game, let alone paying attention to everything happening at the same time.people make mistakes at times

that's a good call. if an opposing player is in the crease while the puck isn't and he makes ANY form of contact with the goaltender, it is goalie interference.

....i'd say good call by the reff, pucks noware to be seen, and conroy could have easily gotten out of the way, nobody was pushing him (number one overrated team in the NHL: Flamers)
