The most influential men in history have been "madmen". Einstein, Darwin, Hitler, Aristotle, etc. By their times standards besides Hitler, who's madness is timeless, they were in their own right mad, crazy, toys in the attic. Hunter S Thompson was considered out there and crazy, probably mad. But at the same time, an absolute genius. Quite possibly the greatest literary voice of a generation. People must listen to, and be educated by this mans work. The world over.
@ParanoidAndification people like you describe non-conformists as being mad or crazy. It appears intelligence to be something of a madness by someone whose psyche has been demoralized and made to conform to standardized concepts ... in other words belief, or the death of intelligence.
Thanks for posting. Everyone should listen to this. We need another Hunter but unfortunately for all of us, I don't see how anyone could possibly fill his shoes.
People site all sorts of reasons for the Iraq War. WMDs, ousting Saddam, spreading democracy, etc. The REAL reason is that the US economy is based on war. 50% of GDP on 'defense' spending and no real enemies....
After five minutes and appr. 26 sec : " What is that noise !!? "
Like someone has woke up a dog that answers with a bark ...strong speach - late night , as if we were walking on a long beach - sounds like one of his own ques ? About to wake himself up from a deep drugcondition ?
The whole thing about them "not voting" to become a republic...all it means is that noone counted the votes. The real revelation of our generation is when it becomes just as popular as pot smoke...that noone has been counting the real votes in our lifetime. This is how evil people are elected. And how private banks are allowed {through murder of US presidents} to print and control the amount of how much FIAT money is printed. Obfuscation is their craft. It is a finely honed craft.
His point is that the pejorative use of the term "liberal" is a way of suppressing people's opinions. Not everyone on the left could be called a liberal.
Thompson is more of a liberal than a conservative. He even stated he was part of a liberal conspiracy to get Nixon. He's non-religious, taken every drug under the sun, always backs the democrats, (JFK, RFK, carter, clinton, john kerry). He thinks, acts and speaks like liberal! Except for his gun obsession he's left wing to the bone. Where'd you get this "he's not a liberal? "
I just listened to the rest of the interview and yes he claims he's not a liberal. Then what the hell is he, an independent I guess? But he's definately not a fucking republican conservative jingoist...that's for sure!
@shay10chief That's the thing, for someone who is far left, he denies it. I mean, I'm on the far left, and I admire him greatly, but it's hard to classify him. But I think that's the point, maybe he didn't want to be classified as anything.
both george w. bush and hst claim to have seen the first plane hit on tv...wtf??? that 1st plane footage didn't surface until the next day...i won't access to the channels those fuckers watch/watched...i had never considered that hst could have been murdered but im beginning to think about it
HST wasn't murdered. He shot himself at home. His son was in the next room and other family members were in the home. After his son heard the shot he ran into the room and found him straight away. "He always said he would take himself out, with a gun." His son quoted. Hunter always said he would commit suicide, all of his friends confirm this. Sorry mate, you'll find no conspiracy here. He was extremely depressed after the 2004 bush/kerry election."If Bush wins, the world is doomed."HST stated.
This needs to be listened too. Prophets throughout history were seen as freaks, kooks, mentally disturbed and on the fringe of society during their time. Oh, how history comes full circle and never stops repeating itself.
He was dead-on right, wasn't he? And this was recorded in 2002, one year after 9-11. Everyone should listen to this...Only thing is, you should have made it 10 minute segments instead of 5 min.

It's a real shame that Hunter S. Thompson missed Wikileaks, imagine what he would have said about them.

@poddylamb Hunter would have called it like it is....an intel op. I have no doubt in my mind about that.

Thompson is a libertarian, in the classic pure form.
Not in the immature and delusional Ayn Rand objectivist mold though, as libertarianism has been bastardized and mutated into today.

i dont mean to be pedantic but its worth mentioning that on watches roman numeral for 4 is IIII, so it's not confused with 6 ( VI) when upside down.
