First time I saw that Watcher person in the Spider-man game for PS-One when you enter the "what if" code, that does of course change the game a little.
It makes the dialog more humorous and all characters makes jokes all the time. Also you see some random stuff that doesn't make much sense.

I started collecting spider-man right before one more day started, and it felt like a slap in the face when a villian I never heard of changed continuity, making the stories before seem like they never occured. Ironically enough, many fans seemed to like what they´re doing with spidey in brand new day. Many eople does not like the idea that spidey should be married and have kids, grow old and retire and die, despite all the incongruence they make in one more day and what we know about brand new day (bringing dead back, lettin the devil win, acting irresponsible with the power he had to decide, etc.)

In the 'new continuity', it has been stated that Parker and Mary Jane dated for a long time, meaning that in this new continuity, they just didn't get married. Meaning that they might have broken up when they were suppose to get married, or they dated for even longer then that. And Civil War happened. People just can't remember who Spider-Man was after he unmasked.
Is it in one of those issues that the Black Cat helps Spidey by shooting Venom or what? Don't have that issue! Need every Venom featured issue, so gotta know :D

Ok, my comment from last night didn't post... but you hit the nail right on the head. I was wondering why it is true that erasing the marriage produces new (unoriginal) villains? I still feel that the ASM books now are geared towards young children. It's like JQ decided it was better to attract newer kids by sacrificing the old, loyal fan base.
I have both of those issues and they are true gems, they worked even better than regular issues.Those were great issues that showed us that the Marvel Universe was thought clearly, with logic and sense. Now that Quesada Man (does whatever a bad EIC can)made it change with "magic" and detroyed everything, is senseless.I DID like Civil War,i liked the death of Captain America but the whole story regarding Spider-Man went wrong.

That is exactly the case. He caters to the "buy it for the collection" crowd, and that's why under his direction, Marvel produces so many series restarts, variant covers, and reprints, rather than focusing on better storytelling, i.e. PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL.
I want Marvel to do a "What if Peter and MJ said no to Mephisto". It would sell huge I bet if only for Marvel to make more money off me for being a nostaligic idiot for 30 years. Comic Stores bought the comic and Marvel sold out, they bought it because they thought that this would be a popular issue, weeks, if not months later, comic book shops are still trying to sell the issues they bought. Marvel made money, the comic book stores didn't.
Aren't the sales based on how many book the the comic stores sell? If there were still so many copies still on the shelves then how could BND be the top selling comic of January?

Dude, Uato the Watcher is not the controller of the Universe. He's from an alien race of 'Watchers' who are all design planets to record extraordinary events. He was there during Civil War, the Onslaught saga and Galactus And ONLY during one Galactus attack has he really intervened, as he's not allowed to. So, yeah, he doesn't control anything. Just watches awesome events, and sometimes show people what could have happened using his super logic and all-knowing on Earth characters.

If you look back at the What If issues, at least 5 of them came true, such as, What If Thor faced Ragnorack and What If the Spider-Clone had lived? So that makes one more that is no longer a what if.

DComposse youre the best man thanks, I stopped reading spider-man it just pisses me off, quesada trying to play god with spider-man, I cant take it. All I stick to is some X-men & dead-pool stuff. Oh & anything with thor. hopefully they will do something right so I can get interested in spidey again, but for now they can keep that shit.

Ok, my comment from last night didn't post... but you hit the nail right on the head. I was wondering why it is true that erasing the marriage produces new (unoriginal) villains? I still feel that the ASM books now are geared towards young children. It's like JQ decided it was better to attract newer kids by sacrificing the old, loyal fan base.

I have both of those issues and they are true gems, they worked even better than regular issues.Those were great issues that showed us that the Marvel Universe was thought clearly, with logic and sense. Now that Quesada Man (does whatever a bad EIC can)made it change with "magic" and detroyed everything, is senseless.I DID like Civil War,i liked the death of Captain America but the whole story regarding Spider-Man went wrong.

See, there it is again: Marvel takes a WHAT IF? story and makes it happen in the main continuity! WI 51: What if the Punisher became Captain America? In the new War Journal series #'s 7-10 The Punisher dons a Captain America costume. WI 44: What if Venom had possessed The Punisher? In WJ 12 Frank wears a Venom Symbiote-style suit.

That is exactly the case. He caters to the "buy it for the collection" crowd, and that's why under his direction, Marvel produces so many series restarts, variant covers, and reprints, rather than focusing on better storytelling, i.e. PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL.

I want Marvel to do a "What if Peter and MJ said no to Mephisto". It would sell huge I bet if only for Marvel to make more money off me for being a nostaligic idiot for 30 years. That is probably the single "what if" I'd want this year until a more important alternate MU changing saga that Uatu watches over pops up(besides WI the Skrulls won Secret Invasion) those two WI's I want.

i just dissreguard everything from the start of civil war on. marvel should do the same. btw watcher dosen't rule the universe he's one of many watchers that watch the events pf not just one but many universes unfold. thats how uatu knows all that sort of shit because he actually saw it happen. btw kev. i'm writing a what if for marvel zombies.taking into account alot of the problems in the story line. its basicly magnito and other super-heros that weren't infected and trying to survive.

Nice. Speaking of Black Cat, I just bought a few Spectacular issues from 1985 where Spidey's dating Black Cat. Man, all Cat wants to do is make out. Petey'll try to talk real to her, but she doesn't care about any of it. She's basically in heat the whole time. It might have worked on Gambit or Human Torch, but Spidey's a big softy. I bet he's a Cancer.

I'm still waiting for Ghost Rider or Dr. Strange or someone like that to knock some sense into peter for making that deal with mephisto and screwing up the timeline so badly. surely dr. strange or ghost rider or SOMEONE in touch with the supernatural would have noticed that time got fucked up by this deal with mephisto.

Of course it was, because everyone wanted to know where this crap was going. Besides, there are no other spidey books that aren't kid oriented other then Ultimate. I'd be curious to see how well Amazing would do against Friendly or Sensational if they still existed.

Comic Stores bought the comic and Marvel sold out, they bought it because they thought that this would be a popular issue, weeks, if not months later, comic book shops are still trying to sell the issues they bought. Marvel made money, the comic book stores didn't.

because Marvel based it on how many books they sold, they sold out, but pretty much every comic book store that bought many copies in hopes of this issue being popular, still have it and are having trouble selling it. They won't make the same mistake again, and in the near future, sales of Amazing will probably drop a lot.

Dude, Uato the Watcher is not the controller of the Universe. He's from an alien race of 'Watchers' who are all design planets to record extraordinary events. He was there during Civil War, the Onslaught saga and Galactus And ONLY during one Galactus attack has he really intervened, as he's not allowed to. So, yeah, he doesn't control anything. Just watches awesome events, and sometimes show people what could have happened using his super logic and all-knowing on Earth characters.
