The person who made the comment below was myself, Pierre72ify. I have no idea how Lenzep got on their instead. Anway it was me. You can probably get on my group by going into flickr groups and clicking on Raid Bug Drama. That's the name of my site. If no luck, you can E-mail me for my link at the flipflop address I gave below. Every time I try to give my link here on Youtube, I comes up "Error, Try Again". Got to get some discussion going. Would like to invite folks to check out my site about these commercials Raid Bug Drama. I have stories on characters Mugsy, Muffy, Pierre, Needles, general ad history and much more. Mugsy's commercial was out a year or two before this one and he was a real tough guy like these 3 bugs saying he wasn't afraid of nothin' til he accedentally created Raid from the word afraid. I'm not allowed to give my link on this site, but you can e-mail me for it at flipflopkid13021@yahoo.com
I remember one where a roach walks in to find the word "AFRAID" on-screen in big block letters. He scoffs and does this "tough-guy" bit, claiming not to be afraid of anything, and kicks away the A and the F to show how tough he is. Unfortunately for him, the remaining letters spell out the dreaded word "RAID", and the letter I turns into a cannon and blasts him!!!

Just watched the commercial again and the roach during the main part of the commercial was about as pretty as the roach characters usually are with their bright green color, hair, antennae, etc. All that wasn't cute was the scales or what'er you call 'em on his elbows, indicating his toughness. The other roach killed at the conclusion was pretty cute, too. More to say, but not enough characters left....
Oh yes, I forgot to comment on the commercial above! The two roaches were cute, though not the prettiest ones in these commercials. The fleas are usually not pretty at all, but this one was just a tad bit cute. The bugs were like street-wise punks, but I'd be nasty too if everyone was out to kill me. It is also disheartening for a bug-lover that the bugs can't win against Raid no matter how tough they are and these three WERE pretty tough. More next time.
After 2 months, I imagine Shari 04 below already used her/his Raid Foggers. However, if they haven't I would like to discourage them from it. I remember my landlord using the foggers on my roaches years ago and I'll never forget seeing thousands of the poor things on their backs with their antennae and legs wiggling. Growing up watching the Raid commercials seeing the bugs lose EVERY TIME gave me an extreme pro-life stance where bugs are concerned. I'm sure the flies won't hurt Shari04.
i bought the raid foggers for my apt to get rid of the nasty ass flies i have, but i have a question...do i need to take my bedding off and cover my furniture? will the fog leave a nasty smell in my apartment or leave residue on furniture?
@shari04 I imagine you've used them already. Poor flies. Growing up watching these commercials gave me a VERY different outlook on bugs (see all my comments on page 1). I remember a couple times my landlord used the foggers on my roaches. Saw thousands on their backs afterward with antennae and legs wiggling, looking SO HELPLESS AND INNOCENT. So so sad!!
@AaronBruceLadner Yes and though I didn't know who Dark was when I was growing up, he affected my thought life in a major way. Growing up seeing these adorable, fun loving bugs lose and get blown up all the time and Dark using pungant lines like:"Indoors or outdoors Raid hunts bugs down like radar and kills them dead!" and "Nobody does it deader!" turned me into a bug sympathizer. Not sure who I thought was meaner, the people using the Raid or Dark pronouncing their doom.
@wawawis That's an insult. I could NEVER compare that disgusting piece of mucus to my Raid bugs. The Raid bugs would do some of the cutest things like pattering their feet, sticking their tongues out, hugging each other. Plus the terror I'd see the poor things go through sometimes when they realized Raid had them doomed. I guess the biggest difference is that bugs are living creatures with feelings and mucus is just body fluid. Plus mucus only gets evicted and my bugs would end up DEAD!
Cool! I remember those RAID Bug Killer commercials. They invariably have some "tough guy" bugs that wind up getting sprayed and scream "RAID!?!?!?" and then POW! "RAID Kills Bugs Dead!"

The narrator is Danny Dark, who played Superman on the Superfriends show.

@Metlhd313 Danny Dark was also the Voice of NBC in the 80's.

I miss these. They're a primitive ancestor of the Mucinex commercials.

I could see it now.PETA bashed Obama for killing the fly and they have protested the Raid commercials in the past for being inhumane to bugs.

Who did the voice of the green bug? He sounds like Murky Dismal from Rainbow Brite.

Frank Welker. He does the voice for both bugs.

The bug on the right sounds like the bassist from Dethklok. I wonder if it's the same actor.
