I just beat the original MGS and I have to say, people who bitch about Twin Snakes are just nitpickers. IMO Twin Snakes is better in every way. More music (unique battle music for every boss fight), better gameplay (Although they probably should have modified the architecture of the game to compensate for First Person but w/e), and better cut scenes (just the fact people are no longer speaking by nodding is great), this game is an awesome remake. The snake on missile thing is ridiculous though.

I like the original one because of the childhood memories and soundtrack, this soundtrack is badass as well. I like this one in overall gameplay since its more fun and contains greater graphics. Both are cool, they both have their own uniqueness. Of course the classic will always be appraised much more, but this one is held at the same level in my opinion.

It's actually a really fun game, also I refuse to believe that MGS3 is better than 2. 3 just slapped some stupid shit team together in order to make another quirky team of villains, except in MGS3 they were just bosses, not characters unlike Dead Cell or Foxhound.

and mgs2 has gayden replacing solid snake so yeah mgs3 is better at least mgs3 had his father which is better then not having solid snake at all and dead cell was horrible

I consider this to be the best MGS ever for this.... I had first played MGS2 for the TANKER section and then i didnt play it for 3 years all I had was a GC and when I heard TTS was coming out i was so excited I bought it played it and that was he start for me I felt right at home i feel that if i had played the first version first i would have given up and that wouldve sucked

@zingodoom Music changes were my primary reason for disliking Twin Snakes. That, and Metal Gear's control system isn't designed for Nintendo. It's not a bad game, they could've done far worse, but seeing how technology and game development had advanced between the making of the original and the remake, they could've done a lot better.

I am by no means a purist. I believe that if a newer version/remake of a game is better, than it's better. I don't cling to the original for sentimentality if there is something better out there. I am a huge Metal Gear fan & have overplayed every game in the series countless times. I played The Twin Snakes long long before I ever played the original. I'm not exactly sure what it is about the original, but I think it's twice as good as Twin Snakes. Probably because of the classic atmosphere

Not bad but the only thing an MGS1 remake needed was updated graphics and gameplay. The inferior soundtrack destroyed the mysterious and dangerous atmosphere that the original had.

I think this one suits metal gear solid ,2 and maybe 4. It describes the mix between drama, stealth, suspense, and military. I like it, i agree also with what gussy667 says. and this is by far, the best remake of a game ev4r!

@silverhawkroman I wouldn't say the voice acting is AS good as the MGS1 original recordings, but it's certainly passable and nothing worth complaining about.

As for the action oriented cutscenes, the guy in charge of the cutscenes actually made them like the MGS1 cutscenes, but Kojima saw them and wanted them changed, because he thought everybody would've seen the same cutscenes before and it would've been uninteresting. Good choice in my book.

Both parts were in 2D of course, and it was the story about Solid Snake when he needed to stop the older Metal Gear, when he had to kill his father Big Boss, and when he got to kill Grey Fox.

Wrong. Metal Gear was released on the MSX first in Europe and Japan in 1987. It was then ported to the NES by Konami. So no, Metal Gear was never "crated" by Nintendo. Also, Sony does not own the rights to the Metal Gear series either. It is owned by Konami, a third party independent to Nintendo or Sony (and Microsoft for that matter). That is why MGS2: Substance was released on the Xbox first, and MGS: Rising will launch simultaneously on the 360 and PS3.

I just don't get that with this one. I believe that the MGS music is the best videogame music you can get, whereas this version is a bit generic for my liking.
