Call me crazy, but I think an American version with character pictures in text exists. I have an extremely old issue of Nintendo power that shows it. Must be one of the beta versions.

Napalm is secret arms.
Napalm can be obtained by clearing stage 1 by score 2800.
If stage 2 is cleared by score 5600, the improvement of napalm becomes possible.
