Yes it is a Law vise which unfortunatley isn't made any more..The rod that I like to use for nymphing is a Sage RPL+ 10ft 4# which is about 10years old but I would like to look into buying a new one as a spare as it does get a lot of use...
I'll send you a link of the dressing of the Nelson Hollow Belly Dancer to get you by as I don't have the materials to tye it. It's a very similar body to the Stimulator so I'll send you a link to that as well...
I like this nymph I want to know what other colors you recommened. I have a question about a fly tier ULF HHagstrom hus fly pattern is a woven caddis larva using d-rib and I have researched can not find the kind of woven pattern he uses. Can you help me.
I have sent you a link to lots of info on Czech Nymphs which I'm sure you will find very interesting, I'm sorry to say that I don't have any information on ULF HHagstrom hus fly patterns other than what I have seen on the internet much like what you may have seen as I couldn't find anything on his woven patterns...I'm sorry I can't help you more than I have, but if I do find some I'll let you know....
I tye very fast and tight so sometimes I'll not use wax, but I would recommend that you do as your fly will be easier to tye and be more robust and will also last much longer.

Loved your videos and binding techniques. Many small tips and great flies show us here. What do you use for a varnish? would be great to know that, thank you.
I'm glad that you enjoyed the video...I mostly use Veniards Cellire No.1 Clear or a ladies nail varnish called Rimmel 60 seconds which is very good..I also use Loctite Easy Brush Super Glue which you will see in the videos too...
I have seen several Step by step tutorials about using lead under bodies. Some recommend coating the lead with tippex or varnish to stop the white lead oxide, that is formed by water contact, contaminating the body material.
I would recommend this as well more for strength, at times I would coat the thread with superglue or varnish before dubbing the body which would fix both but to be honest with you I have never had any problems with this lead tape..
hi dave another great fly.. im irish living here in czech rep. some of the guys here im told use salami sausage skin for the back on these flys maybe youve heard of this i was wondering do you have any thoughts on this.. thanks again for the vids.... you make some of the so called experts wont mention any names look like theyre workin on a dredge tight lines
I haven't heard but if they do I'm sure it would probably work especially if the smell and taste is in the skin it would easily attract a fish or two, maybe this is the secret to their success..I do know that the Czech anglers are very skilled in fishing and tying flies...
Davie,
Terriric tie. Is that a LAW vise you're using? Also, when you fish the Czech nymph, what weight rod do you use and what lenght?
Thanks,

Why dont you just use black thread if you prefer a black head?
redsoxboy58 11 months ago
@redsoxboy58
Its because the body is a light colour so you use a lighter coloured thread.

Hi youngGoosehunter,
Thin Skin is a Wapsi product and as I see you live in America, you should be able to buy it no problem over there..

dear davie have u ever tied a czech nymph on a wide gap hook?I tried it & it worked quite well.hopefully you'll be able to try it.
rosieposie1010 2 years ago
Hi rosieposie1010,
There's many hooks out there that you can tye Czech nymphs on but the one I have used most is the Kamazan B110 Grubbber, I'm not fussy what I use.
