If the great lakes were to converge into one lake it would have to cover this part of Michigan. It would have to sink. But, there is ancient beds of rock of the granite type under Michigan, primarily from the mid-continental rift which spewed lava at one time. I don't know how it's going to sink

@JJJadm You know, that's a good question, because we can't see the future at all. Living in fear is always wrong, but discussing possibilities is always good. Food hoarding might only get you killed. I'd prepare the kids by teaching them right from wrong, and go camping together, have fun,learn some survival skills along the way. These are things I did anyway. Kids need to know how to start a fire, and when to start a fire, and how to conserve wood at the same time. They need read.

@JJJadm Let them know some things are going on that are unusual, and that life is about change. Teach them to garden and make the best out of not having much. Stop spoiling them if you do. No more little princesses and tiny tyrants. That was never good anyway. Teach them history because then they will see patterns from it, and teach them about peer pressure and manipulation, so that they are immune from that. Store water, basic foods, protein like nuts, beans n rice, you should anyway.

As far as timing Casey put it at about now and said it could happen a matter of days. The latest news seems to point to a erosion of the salt domes that extend from the gulf up into Southern Arkansas, with a large rebound quake in the New Madrid system that could be passable. We now know that the Quake zone goes from South of Memphis to Springfield Ill.
