i get really sick how hard people try to dj with a programm that is certainly NOT for deejaying like ableton live. they warp tracks for hours and do lots of unnecessary workarounds for simple standart things like CUE POINTS. i want to do it on the fly i want to do it easy . just use serato, traktor or simillar product who where made for djs not for masochists . i love ableton but i would rather shoot in my leg than dj with it.
Too much work for something so simple. Copy clip, set start and end points on new clip. Do this for as many "cue" points you want. Select all clips, drag all clips to your file browser, rename the folder to your song name. Now when you are DJing you can drag the folder to your Live set and POOF! Magic. All clips are dropped into your set. Done. The nice thing is that you don't clutter your drive with WAV files doing this. I can warp and set cues for an entire track in about 2 minutes.
how would one be able to do it on the fly during a set. Doing everything before limits what you feel like playing during a set. There should be a better way...
Part 2 of 2: You could even clean up the clips real nice by using Crop Sample to localize just the Cue section in the sample window. Try it - it's super quick...lots of ways to do tings in Live of course...!
Part 1 of 2: Hhmmm...with all respect, you show one way to do this, but there is no need to jump into the Arrangement View. It can all be done easily in Session. Just add your whole track to each Track clip top to bottom in Session and simply drag the Start and End Markers (and/or add the loop braces) around each section that you want to cue in the Sample Editor....
thanks for the video dude I appreciate it, I just have one problem though that I cant figure out, is it possible to add locators to somewhere that doesnt have those lines? kinda like in the middle of an audio clip at a random spot?
This gets us half of the way there. When dealing with a lot of tracks in a set this can get messy and you can't drop cue points on the fly. What if you want to loop one of the clips? The follow action will override it and play the next track...
@sollyjim I agree. I usually decide beforehand if I want to use this method or use looping. Unfortunately, follow actions and looping don't play nice.
@aparroyo you can use clyphx to really expand your looping capabilities if you go that route. there's a demo of it in use on here if you search clyphx. I've gone to the dark side for now (traktor)

@dudeputthataway1 it is indeed, although it has to be at least on a subdivision of 16th notes. If it isn't, you can always warp the clip until it is!
