  • Woody here.

As a big fan, I felt a bit sad watching this because they should be on a stage under spotlights, not below a pastoral painting in a country club with an audience of octagenarians wandering around aimlessly.

I have done gigs like this and I call them 'wallpaper' gigs because that is what you are. These gigs pay two months rent, which is why we do them.

  • Pearls before the swine.

  • Thanks Satan + Adam. Good to see you

    both together again.

  • Adam you are playing all over the singer, you of all people should know that that is a no, no, LOL great playing brother

  • There was no sound man and no monitors. It was up to the harmonica player to adjust the vocal & harp volume--i.e., through the PA--from the stage. We were also told to angle the PA speakers inward, away from the crowd--and from the camera. This made the vocals lower than they should have been. Finally, you'll notice--since you're somebody who obviously pays attention--that the cameraman was standing closer to the harp player's amps than to the PA speaker on Sterling's side. All of.......

  • ......these things combined to make the volume of the vocals that you're hearing here, in this video, lower relative to the harp than it should have been. That's what you're hearing. Had the relative volumes been correct--as they are, for example, on our albums--you wouldn't have had the subjective impression that the harp player was playing all over the singer.

  • doesn't that just sum up the 'Kiawah Country Club' and the like? They want live music.. they get freakin' ROYALTY with you guys, and then they insult with the 'turn it down', or 'turn the speakers in' remarks! I know some of the folks who would have perhaps seen you play at Kiawah, and there is no WAY it would hurt their ears! Can I add, that you are both astounding, and something divine took place to bring you both together way back then. Thank you both.

  • One great thing, is we can hear how you back a singer, that's the upside!

  • adam mate,,you better be carefull or youl put your hip out or something man, then youll be sittin with the rest of em,,lol,,,,,,great playing though brother :)

  • I just had to smile when I saw this. Mr Satan is talking to me in person, for the first part of this clip. These guys were great, best thing I could have done was to see them live.

Y'all are correct, this is one of the richest country clubs in the nation. I felt like a fish out of water. It was surreal.

  • Looking forward to seeing you guys again in NH. I promise it will be a cooler gig.

  • Great jam... restless audience. They are too old, white, rich, or whatever, to appreciate the blues =( I'd love to see you guys in a night club or small music venue!

  • Who was that rude guy with the beer walking all in front and talking to your drummer while he was trying to play?

Oh, and I couldn't find a schedule on your website. Are you guys coming to anywhere near Virginia?

  • Ha ha! I imagine him saying " excuse me my good man, could you direct me to master Satan, I have a beer for him". The drummer then directed him politely to Mr S:)

  • Country club or nursing home!!!?

  • This is such a nice performance :)

    sounds good guys ,

I think i might check and see if i can find some of your music somewhere :)

Keep it up , bless ya !

  • come to the west side

  • this reminds me of a routine some comic did years ago about being a bluesman in the suburbs. Called himself "Blind Lemon Pledge". Hey, any gig in a storm....

  • Playing a country club no less! You guys are too funny - not the usual juke joint crowd. Sterling looks a lot younger without his trademark beard. Love that he still plays some percussion even though you have a drummer. Hope to catch you in NH in August.

  • Hey Adam, it looks like you are really missing your new farmer foot drums! :) That was really nice... Too bad you guys can't come out west... I'll definately have to try to get down south one of these days to catch a S&A gig!

  • Great blues, loved it!

  • cool dude !

  • Great video. I hope I get to see Satan and Adam live again sometime in the near future.

  • thank Adam for this! I would love to see more of these Were Mr Satan is talking as well as playing. Thanks again and you sound great as always.

    j

  • in addition: the second harp i bought was an A... Ive been looking for a good ditty of yours to learn, and youve covered it for me here. Though likely unintentional, this is one of your best lessons for me, to date.

  • at the 4:00 mark , Adam, I think a dude stole one of your favorite shirts!!!!!!

  • then the guy at 4:13 walks past with the matching shorts...

  • Just love the vibrato

  • Adam, are you playing through a Randall half-stack!? Never expected to see that!

  • ...or is that a Marshall head?

  • It's not my amp. It belongs to the guitarist in the other band. I'm using the same two amps I always use. They're right behind me. The Kay 703 is in a chair; the Premier Twin 8 is on the ground. I wanted to turn them up louder but we were playing for a room full of country club people and I was told not to.

  • Adam,

How much does a gig like that pay?

Or is for free for the experience?

    Terry in Texas

  • Your sound seems a little different than before Adam. Are you using you usual rig?

Great to hear those words from Sterling! Thanks.
