  • ESTAMOS AQUI PARA CHINGARNOS A LA OLIGARQUIA ...TENGANOS MIEDO...DONDE QUEIRA QUE ESTEN

  • I really can't understand why people hate her voice! Just listen to this: she's a good sing, yes, and her voice sounds brilliant, warm, strong, definitely beautiful! She can sing, yes, it doesn't matter if it was necessary to retake a lot of times, as some people say. It's ridiculous. When any singer is recording an album, of course she or he retakes many times it's necessary, and no matter! The important is her voice, the timbre, the colour of a voice ad Madonna has them well.

  • melyik templomban forgatták ezt a jelenetet?

  • @Manoo62 Oh Really. lol.

  • @co1985mn Its the only film I have been to see where about half the audience got up and left in the first 30 min. Unfortunately I couldnt I was with my girfriend who wanted to stay.

  • @Manoo62 Then WHY are you at a video of the flim. Makes NO sense

  • @rockinrobintweets It popped up while looking for something else so I thought I would take a look an see if it was as bad as I remember it.....

  • @Manoo62 Yeah like your mum

  • @liketammysaids If your going to post, the idea is that you have a point.

  • Amazing, but let's just be honest: they've got NOTHING on LuPone and Patinkin, the original pair. <3

  • im sorry but he is just absolutly gorgeous!! <3 <3 <3

  • muyto lindo...madona & Antônio banderas sexis de mais.....parabens

  • After living all these years with seeing hearing and buying Madonna. This is the one song and dance that I will always remember. Nothing over sexual or over stated. Just a beautiful clean set with the perfect dance partner dancing in the most seductive and elegant way. Such a Powerful song and dance make for Absolute Perfection!

"Oh... what I'd give for 100 years but the physical interferes, everyday more, oh my creator"

  • I love this scene so much!

-it's amazing because even though eva and che are onstage together all the time, this is the only time they're directly acknowledging each other.

-They're arguing with each other because they are on opposite political sides... yet they're waltzing. Beautiful contrast.

    -Waltzing is SEXUAL AS F!

But the part where madonna falls down is pitiful. We can SEE her sit!

  • how could you be so shor-sighted :)

  • im planning to go to Spain and bring back Antonio back as a souvenir <3 hes hoooot!!

  • @musicallytalented2 amen to that :)

  • I love this song!

  • Play back 11yrs ago.. I remember my brothers kuya Nap + Leo in this video during our Singles for Christ play..

  • I want her hair! So beautiful...

  • I could watch this scene forever and never get bored. Ok, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point.

  • You have got to be kidding! LOL

  • you can tell that she fell on her own 2:43

  • This scene is so beautiful. ^_^

  • Siempre la amaremos;)

  • For your 92nd this year, the French will always remember you Evita. France has always loved you, and always will.

  • 'What is the good of the strongest heart in a body thats falling apart' that really makes me understand how Eva must have felt. D:

  • Che is suppose to represent the people as well as her critics

  • @cicada300 I think Che is like the narrator of that musical. He's everywhere in any role.

  • man this is my stuff!!!! i havent watched this is an age, but how wonderful this is..a masterpiece for everybody involved

  • In the script, I wonder if it said "CHOKE CHE." Madonna must have liked that.

  • i'm crying.

  • madonna fits eva well somehow...

  • just beautiful!

  • Best Broadway musical bar none!!!

  • She's pregnant in this scene watch how she strategically places her arm or pushes out her derriere. Also the way it's shot, tre bien!

  • @maireadfay yeah thats right!!!!! she had i believe it was her second child a few months after this movie, never noticed though!

  • Fascinating how diferent everyone sees this sceene... i ever thought it is something like a "before death" siutuation for both of them. Last you see Che hes really hurt and Evita faintet, so it looked to me like they both are asleep and in this dimension of not realy be alive anymore, just with the diference that Che has the power to step out and live. But i watched it in englisch, so it seems that i get it wrong.

  • @NightmaresDaydream

    You absolutely used my words.

  • The saddest scene of the movie is when Che walks backwards and fades away into the darkness.

  • A masterful piece of movie making. a wonderful scene.

  • This I feel is Madonna's GREATEST role! She was just amazing!! I love this movie and music! I wish she would've gotten more credit for it.

  • I think this whole scene shows everyone that "Santa Evita" is NOT IMMORTAL! like many of her supporters not only thought it but believed that she was the so called "savior" from the world's problems. When she died the problems not only got worse but also multiplied. This scene shows even those who act immortal and invincable are still... well... HUMAN!

  • @countrywillneverdie Evita herself knew she would one day die, but she never expected so soon. Personally, I think everyone's at fault for her premature demise, especially Evita herself. Her ambition got the better of her and killed her. Still, despite all that, she was a kind-hearted woman who only wanted the best for her people. That's why I love her so much.

  • @VanitasxAura really though if anyobe is to blame for her death it is surprisingly peron because both evita and his first wife died of cervical cancer which was actually passed on by him

  • @theman8398 I knew that. That's what I meant by everyone's at fault. Peron is the main reason she got the cancer, but the doctors told her too late and she refused to stop the cancer until it had already taken hold.

  • @VanitasxAura Well she didn't want the people of Argentina to know about. Because if they found out, then their Evita, their "savior" wouldn't appear as invincible as she was made out to be and couldn't always be there for them like she promised. So that's why she refused the treatments. She hoped that if she ignored it, it would disappear. But then she found out that it wasn't getting better so she tried to get the treatment and by then it was too late. By you are right; it is everyone's fault

  • @sparowsgurl93 Exactly. I couldn't have said it better myself. ^_^

  • @VanitasxAura :) I really do admire her too. And it's amazing to think that she started with nothing and then became that. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if she didn't die so young.

  • @sparowsgurl93 We can only imagine, my friend. Although, I don't think she'd be as recognized today if she had lived. Although, I would love to have met her had she lived.

  • @VanitasxAura That is true. And I would have loved to meet her as well. That would have been a true honor.

  • Happy 92nd Birthday Evita. You are greatly missed and forever in the hearts of the Argentine people

  • @KrazyLuvable .. mucho, Amor from Mendoza,

  • I was 6 when this movie came out. I LOVED that dress and I LOVED still love this movie. Classic <3

  • Even though they lowerd music-keys for Madonna, they both still do a great job, even though they are not pure Musical-Actors.

I was surprised, Antonio could sing so well, this movie ist one of my favorite films. :-)

    Antonio is so sexy.

  • @MsStarmusic I totally agree. I love Antonio B.! I've watched this movie at least 20 times!

  • @MsStarmusic They didn't lower the keys for Madonna. She was able to sing it in its correct key. It was lowered at the direction of Alan Parker along with ALW and TR because they didn't want the singing to be too overbearing in a movie theater. They have said this many times and they were right. It would have been too much in the movie theater if this were sung like on broadway.

  • @cowgirlamy1 Ok, thanx for Information, didn`t know that...

and yes, I agree, they were right and I`m amazed, that it sometimes even sounds better,

because that`s not the case,- usually, when they do that. But still Madonna was in advantage singingwise, because of that circumstance. I sang a copple of songs, original score, so I really know. But this movie ist one of my absolute favorites. Regards ;-)

  • I wish my conscience looked like that.....

  • @PercyPotterFan Ha ha, that comment made me crack up!

  • @PercyPotterFan dont we all *sigh* :D

  • @PercyPotterFan I just wish I had my little own Antonio Banderas, and that I was magical, so I could put him in my bag and bring him everywhere! Lol. Che is actually just the narrarator and it's beieved that this Che is supposed to be Ernesto "Che" Guevara, anarchist extreme- which our Che also is.

    xo Ruby

  • @PercyPotterFan Hot damn I agree with you 100%.

  • don't we all

  • @PercyPotterFan Ohhhhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Desperately Seeking Susan, Dick Tracy, A League of Their Own are great films that Madonna starred in but EVITA is the role of her career.

  • Its a film, which happens to be better than the stage show, as for antonio yum yum and one sexy voice

  • @joany531 No it isn't. By far. The stage version is full of energy and passion, but this film is as dull and brown as its pathetic color palette.

  • An excellent number with meaningful choreography.

  • here you can actually see that madonna know to sing..she should do that more often.. :-))

  • You can totally see her baby bump here :')

  • Well from what I heard is Che supposed to be the voice of the people

  • I was writing particularly about Evita. What you write is true for some of his other musicals which have only a small number of melodic themes, but it's not true of Evita. Yes, there is surely some music that repeats in Evita with different lyrics, but as I said, there are many wonderful melodies and other types of music in this wonderful film. (Musical themes repeat in operas, too, of course...) The lyrics are intriguing throughout Evita, but the lyrics in this Waltz are really provocative.

  • Strictly speaking, Ché Guevara is not in Evita. "THE CHE" was a student medical school during Evita reign.

" Ché " is a word Argentines use to address each other. The only reason Che Guevara was called " Ché " was because his comrades knew he was Argentine and that Argentines use the word ché.

Ché acts as the voice of the people. Ché is always there in some form. However, he can see things that the rest of the people cannot.

  • @npledger You are right.....and I'll add that the character was never meant to be Che Guevara, wasn't written to be him. But when it was first performed the producer thought the imagery worked well as Che G was such a recognisable character. And it does kind of work, even if it's not historically accurate. In the film, they deliberately reverted back to having him as an "everyman" type of narrator/commentator.

  • i had always thought that Che was the voice of the people. he is the one person that interacts with Eva but represents everyone.

  • I didnt know che was her conscience, I always thought they would get together, guess not !!!!

  • @n2i2c2k2y well Che in real life was away fighting while all this was going on so no they don't get together =)

  • @n2i2c2k2y me too!! haha i hard core ship them :D

  • Her tits show nipples and jiggle jiggle. Also Antonio's face looks nervous especially when Madonna tries to hug him. LMAO

  • This was the only project of Madonna's that I actually enjoyed. Also, her vocal range more closely matches mine compared to other Evitas, so it's very easy for me to sing along. ANd I always do! :)

  • I love Antonio Banderas in this film!! AND he can really SING!

  • I can't stand Madonna's voice. It's so weak. When you're used to listening to the Patti LuPone version it's really almost unbearable. Antonio redeems it however, and her acting isn't bad.

  • @beatlemaniac487 i have to give that two thumbs...one up one down. maddonas voice matches theppart pefectly but antonio is really good

  • @beatlemaniac487 It's a film. Someone with a voice as strong as LuPone's would ruin the film

  • Geiler Film!

  • My favorite song out of the whole movie! The Waltz is very sexy and Antonio(SP) and Madonna do this well! During the movie I really wished they would have kissed!

  • @EnchantedMagickLove SHES MARRIED!!!!!! AND THE HATE EACHOTHER!

  • @alwayssingin99 so? Doesn't mean I still didn't want it to happen

  • @alwayssingin99 I mean want it to happen lol

  • i kinda for a while whle i was young kinda thought of him as a fling then i kinda thought thought that maybe he was a relative.....the more i look into it i would agree its more like a conscience

  • this song kind of represents her battle with her conscience as she's knows she's dying she's starting to sort of argue with herself

  • Che represents the opposition, he is played by one person but he is meant to be the voice of all of Eva's political enemies. Che was a real person, I believe his persona was picked for the musical because of his radical militant views not so much because he really ever had anything to do with Eva Peron.

I saw this on stage in the 80's and immediately fell in love with not only the musical but the entire history of Eva. When the movie came out starring Madonna & Antonio, it was perfection!

  • I thought antonio banderas had a great voice

  • @DarthxErik whatever, the point of my rant was that a musical is fiction and doesn't follow an account accurately if it is based on a person or a historical event. (thank you for correcting me though)

  • @amotuusojos IT'S A MUSICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you think that Les Miserables was completely historically accurate about the French Revolution? They have creative license so yes, this may not be an accurate account of Eva Peron but his is a wonderful musical in its own right.

  • @lalaland1915 Les Miserables is NOT about THE french revolution. It's based on an actual event called the June Rebellion in the mid-1800's. It's fiction, of course, regarding the characters.

  • It's a little sped up. Kind of annoying.

  • i honestly recommened you another version of Eva Peron's life, cus this is not the most accurrate as much as facts and about was going on in Argentina, and also bout the way her and the goverment were. but just in case, those other movies are not musicals, and are not in english (thought you might find the with subtitles) but they are much better.

  • Very sexy and compelling at the same time... Banderas and Madonna have great chemistry

  • Comment removed

  • afanoftheclassics Your comment that Che is Eva's conscience is what Andrew Lloyd Webber intended. I love being able to listen to each song and then contemplate it. It is amazing ALW captured the depth and breadth of Eva, Paron and the events in such clarity in each song. I remember reading about the saga of her life after she married Paron, etc. amazing and credible depiction of what transpired.

  • antonio banderas isnt a great singer but he is an amazing dancer

  • A great and under-rated film. Madonna and Antonio are both superb. Music and lyrics are fascinating and complex. Some accuse Lloyd Weber of having only a few musical themes and repeating them over and over. But there are many wonderful melodies in Evita and the lyrics are very sophisticated and vary with the action in the film. I've seen the film many times and always find it new and exciting.

  • @Naomi2025 I appreciate this movie more as time passes. Granddaughter doing bio on Evita, and this film clearly shows the diverse opinions of Eva Peron. Websites now are giving Evita more credit and say the oligarchy before and after Peron's rule did what they could to taint her image.

The lyrics are absolutely perfect, (and yes very complex) and you won't catch everything the first time through.

  • @Naomi2025 Andrew Lloyd Weber does have only a few themes that he plays throughout most of his musicals, the score is generally the same throughout what changes is the lyrics, he's actually very smart for this it A: makes the piece flow very well and B: makes it easier for him he only has to create new lyrics not necessarily new music but personally I'm more of a fan of Sondheim than Webber

  • @Naomi2025 Besides, I like it when melodies are repeated - there's almost always a deeper meaning to it - by recognizing a melody you've heard before, you notice connections that you wouldn't have noticed otherwise... :)

  • @Naomi2025

although I agree, he does reuse the same melody over and over again in Evita. Even if the songs are nice, it is a bit uncreative to re use a melody so much in one play

  • the ending of this song brings a tear to my eye everytime... 2:44-3:48

  • How can be so digitally altered and so off pitch at the same time???

  • Banderas' strong accent and most of all his horrible singing (if you can call it sing) spoil the whole song. I mean this guy cannot sing whereas Madonna's singing is absolutely amazing. The discrepancy between the two is painful

  • Comment removed

  • thank u!!!

  • somethings off about the sound byte for "Stay there"

  • I think Che in the movie is meant to be a personification of Eva's conscience- you know the part of her which disapproves of things she does that she knows aren't right so i think this scene is her attempting to reconcile absolute right and wrong with what she feels are necessary compromises. But then i could be 100 % incorrect so please don't scold me!

  • @afanoftheclassics

He is Che Guevara, and he represents the people of Argentina who questioned the Parons. However, this rock Opera was based off the diary of the daughter of a man who was force out of Argentina and fled to the UK. So this entire musical/opera is slanted toward her "bad" side and doesn't focus a whole lot on all the good she did. Just some general info, not saying you're wrong about Che, your observation of him is also right.

  • @nick0523

Actually, Webber and Rice did not intend to make Che as Che Guevara. It was only later that they were suggested by Harold Prince to base his character to Che Guevara. Che was originally the narrator that reflects the people of Argentina and Eva's conscience.

  • @isnukwin

    Yes, you are correct :P

We are doing this show right now at my college

  • @isnukwin

Indeed, "Che" is Argentine slang for "guy". As in, everyday joe. Che's character is intentionally as abstracted as possible as he's meant to represent the average Argentine.

  • @dermotmacflann Actually, "Che" is the argentine version of the english "Hey", as in "Hey, you!" ---> "¡Che, vos!"

  • @afanoftheclassics I think thats what Che is because it makes sense.

  • @afanoftheclassics - I think you're absolutely right... at least it's what his authors said they wanted to communicate, in a recent TV show

  • @afanoftheclassics Think its a good take on it, and i agree a bit, but considering it was originally a stage show i think Che is more there to act as a Narrator, telling the audience what to think about Evita up to the point where we pity her in this scene, and to act as the voice of the down trodden in argentina

  • @afanoftheclassics I agree! :)

  • @afanoftheclassics i think che acts as a chorus. not exactly a conscience, it serves to point out main themes and represent the majority (eg the citizens of argentina and perhaps even the world). he also narrates in some places :) you might be right though. i think eva did regret some of what she did. otherwise, why would she have held so many charity events and whatnot when the government was running out of $?

  • @fizzie365 Thank you, it's lovely to hear other peoples.' opinions! I hadn't considered your viewpoint before but i must admit i agree with it wholeheartedly.

  • @afanoftheclassics Not a bad inturpretation. Someone told me he's "the people" but your idea makes more sense

  • @noangel888 Thank you. :]

  • @afanoftheclassics that is interesting, but i have always thought che represented the man in the street who refused to believe the image created around her, the truth behind the curtain of lies, something that everyone was aware of but wanted to ignore. I hate to say it but something similar to diana, a person who wanted to make a difference but ultimately played the establishment game and became completely self serving but at the same time not seeing themselves in that image. excellent film

  • @alimcmoet : An excellent comparison! And an excellent interpretation, that's very interesting thanks!

  • @afanoftheclassics I totally agree with you on that point. That's how I interpreted it.

  • @claricevane Thanks!

  • @afanoftheclassics I never thought of it that way before. Nifty idea.

  • @unionjacklyn Thanks! :]

  • @afanoftheclassics Actually, he's supposed to be Che Guervera. Though, when I saw the movie I interpreted his role the same way you did. Having him represent her conscious gives much more depth to both her character and his. Che being Che Guervera seems to oversimplify her character and the film over all.

  • @EvilBarbieSpawn Really? you learn something new everyday........ Thanks!

  • *End bit where she's sitting on the floor singing* Excuse me, I need tissues . . .

  • some of the dancing is quite off

  • @malt8291 dats bcoz she was pregnant with Lola for 4 months while she was doing the dance part.

  • @malt8291 I read the dancing was a bit off because Madonna, who was very pregnant as you can tell, was very sick and was having pains. They almost went for a body double but Alan Parker decided against it.

  • Banderas was chosen not because of his singing ability, but more accurately, his lack there of. Che was NOT intended to be Madonna's (Eva Paron's) talent equal. Off key, out of step or simply simple was more compelling then if Che was played by someone who was all that Madonna brought to the character of Eva Paron. His accent is perfect to juxtipose the rough side of Eva and the minds of the Argentinians. ALW was brilliant creating the Che character and Bandaras playing the role.

  • @dorothyned

Interesting point of view. However this is a musical. All the actors are supposed to sing properly in a musical, something Banderas miserably fails to do. I mean if I want to listen to the CD I need to skip banderas' parts when he sings because it's so painful to my ears.

  • I don't care what critics think, I genuinely like this movie!

  • i agree, they have a love hate relation ship..! i like this bit and them from this bit i cry! it is sad from this song! i love this movie and madona plays eva really well! x

  • Simply lovely.

  • About Che (Antonio Banderas character):

Che is actually based on Che Guevara. When Tim Rice was in Argentina to make some research about Evita (remember, internet didn't exist then, and Evita was not famous enough to have biographies all over the world. Much of the information of the musical are actually taken of biographies of Peron), he found himself face to face with a biography of Che Guevara. He was surprised to find out that he is actually argentinan, (continues....)

  • VIVA Peron

  • I love this song and love his performance, but hers is sometimes kind of stupid. Her lips look particularly STUPID at the beginning of this video! She looks like a PUPPET! and then compare this to the way it was sung by REAL performers and singers in the broadway version, and this looks kind of, well....small....

  • genious. madonna is huge

  • this movie is amazing and madonna is amazing as evita. she looks so sexy here

  • awesome.....!!!!♥♥♥

  • why don't Argentinans like this?

  • @D22queen The beginning of the movie/musical, depicts Eva as a slutty person.

  • this is Che?! Wow...I thought it was the conscience of Argentina.

  • @omfg4000 u were right.... che is not guevara, but the Greek chorus of Argentina based on his politics.....so many people confuse this....

  • @anisete46 Actually he is. He may represent the chorus but it is Che Guevara. In the play version you can watch a bit of on here you'll see Che and if that isn't him they made him look way too much like him.

  • this is one of the top 10 best lloyd webber/rice songs ever written. BEAUTIFUL.

  • Madonna sings like an angel. Awsome

  • interesting their dance.. I never noticed it is probably not Madonna doing the speedier waltz, and falling to the ground (she was pregnant already, probably the reason?)

The body double dances a bad waltz though.. Banderas is better, a bit too "hoppy" but better :)

  • @dinavienna body double ?

  • Antonio should be Juan Peron and Jonathan Pryce as Che. I want it that way.

  • @stevephengb OH NO! Pryce is more of the grey, a tad boring, too mainstream gentleman that through fortunate circumstances can grab power. Banderas is the perfect unruly unbreakable uncorruptible "fake Ché" :)

  • i was a appearance in the musical in Trieste

  • My favorite actor and the only female singer I can stand other than Pat Benatar. Love this scene....
