Hypnosis has nothing to do with willpower, whatever you think that is. In fact "hypnosis" happens constantly and is never ending. Hypnosis gives you something you can put right in front of you. I think it's more like 20% could be hypnotised with a rapid or shock induction, but more like 70% of the population who speak and understand english well would respond directly to suggestions when under hypnosis.
if you suffer with breakup pain and cant stop obcessing about them, then yes, you can be helped to somewhat detach from them, but time and finding another focus in life, is pretty good to!

I think you are right, we had a hypnotist perform for a bunch of students and had volunteers stand in a line. The suggestions became more and more extreme and asked the less responding people to sit down leaving a handful of students who responded very well.
They are called suggestibillity tests,.. simple tests to see if they respond subconsious. Not everyone make a good stagesubject,.. within a controlled environment theres no need for tests.
I believe to hypnosis for a simple reason : I saw a general hypnosis session...without hypnotiser ! It was at church. Some boys were holding candles in front of their eyes. They suddenly fell to the floor, hypnotised by the flame (I saw it on TV too later).
Actually, relaxation seems not important. Extreme focus is the key. I would like to test it one day to see me loose control (without drugs).

Really. And what is your specific experience with stage hypnosis? Have you ever done a stage show? How many have you watched? Who specifically have you watched? As I said it's at least 30%. Sometimes it's more. But saying it's always 90% is just not accurate.

Never said I was a hypnotist. I've watched a few shows in person and in every one of them, out of the people who volunteer, the majority of them are there the whole show and are active participants. I actually counted the last one, done at a fair..hence the 32 out of 35. What's that 91%? This is what I've observed every time. Just reporting what I see...that's all.

Cool. I can understand that. What I'm telling you is from the perspective of a professional though. Believe me I'd love to get 90% every show. In some environments you can do it. Sometimes it has more to do with the crowd than with the hypnotist.

my guess is that the stage hypnotist looks for cues for who is susceptible to direct commands ,and picks them out of the audience

I think you are right, we had a hypnotist perform for a bunch of students and had volunteers stand in a line. The suggestions became more and more extreme and asked the less responding people to sit down leaving a handful of students who responded very well.

They are called suggestibillity tests,.. simple tests to see if they respond subconsious. Not everyone make a good stagesubject,.. within a controlled environment theres no need for tests.

Yes that's true, but only because the hypnotist chooses people that will respond best before they go on the stage-they're preselected.

I believe to hypnosis for a simple reason : I saw a general hypnosis session...without hypnotiser ! It was at church. Some boys were holding candles in front of their eyes. They suddenly fell to the floor, hypnotised by the flame (I saw it on TV too later).
Actually, relaxation seems not important. Extreme focus is the key. I would like to test it one day to see me loose control (without drugs).

Mine are that I've been practicing going in and out of trance for 5 years and that I've hypnotized over a thousand people.
Hypnotized people aren't stupid, they're just in an altered state of mind. They are also PROFOUNDLY AWARE of everything that is happening.

Hypnosis cannot be used in rape since it cannot be used to force someone to do somethign they're uncomfortable with.

Well does it matter what the person calls himself? the truth is what he says. All those myths are just BS.If eh IS a hypnotist you cant know ^^
And NO, hypnosis cant be used as a daterape tool since the person MUST want to do the "order". If the person thinks the order is wrong, like telling someone to steal, the person would still think like he/she normally would. Same thing goes with sex.
However one could probably make the person do something that they normally wouldnt do with hypnosis.

The first myth is fairly obvious I thought and no hypnosis cannot be used as a date rape tool, it can't even make you do anything you're uncomfortable with. It can only release inhibitions and alter your behaviour to your approval and liking.
