  • what a clever you...

    awesome

  • What a beautiful comment!

    Thank you very much.

  • :D Incredible! Very well done! This impressive model would flabbergast anyone! I'm really struggling at the moment to try and create a realistic and convincing digital double of my dog. How did you make it? What programs did you use; could you help me out? I'm very interested and open to any suggestions!

  • Thanks for your comment!

I used 3ds max but now I am trying to use software open source

like Blender and the results are similar.

What type of dog do you want to realize?.

  • Thanks for replying. I'm trying desperately to create a Border Collie. I also have 3Ds Max but I'm not so familiar with Blender. My dog is going to star in a movie that I want to make but I'll need to (in some scenes) substitute a CG version of my dog into scenes that she can't originally perform in. Therefore, the model will need to be as realistic as possible. Do you have any special tips for modeling, texturing, or lighting?

  • A Border Collie.

A dog with an enough long hair that characterizes him

Using 3ds max the model has to be very well unwrapped to avoid seam in the visible zones.

The modeling can be enough simple.

Very important it is to apply the modifier fur using various maps for the density

    the length of the hair.

The hair will inherit the uv of the model and therefore it will need to apply a texture of the hair

  • That can be created through photo of the dog.

The hair at the end must to be combed and it need to apply some dynamics so that stirs during the animate scenes.

  • Thank you very much for the information! I'll give it a shot and hopefully I won't stumble too much on the way. I have just one other question: would you recommend patch modeling for something like this? Are their pros and cons?

  • I believe that It is better to use the polygonal modeling

and then to apply a modifier subdivision as meshmooth

    or turbosmooth.

  • Thanks for replying! I will be sure to show you the model once it is completed (I also plan on modeling a Bengal cat.) It will probably take longer than usual since I'm modeling the interior of the dog (skeleton, muscles, etc.) as well as the exterior. Thank you so much much for your help; I really appreciate it. You seem to know quite a bit about modeling animals!

  • That's a sweet cat, looks very realistic.

  • thanks.

I also think that he's sweet.
