Your body doesn't process sugar in the same way. I am diabetic, and I can have 180 BG in the morning, drink sweetened with sugar tea and it never spikes. I can drink a bit of soda with HFCS and OMG 400 here we come!
The US is ranked 50th for life expectancy at birth among Portugal, Bosnia, Panama, Costa Rica, and Cuba. Interesting to note that the countries ranked at the top have socialized health care. Living longer means more of a strain on social security, doesn't it? I've lived outside the country and the number of people we have with allergies by comparison is astounding, but allergy meds are big business, aren't they?
good luck getting HFCS out of soft drinks. The only soft drinks that are made without HFCS are the diet ones, and those made in 3rd world countries (Mexico, Vietnam, etc.). In those places, soft drinks contain pure sugar (sucrose), which does the same thing to your body as HFCS does...
Going on 2 years now since this video posted. Does anyone know if this establishment did away with High Frutose Corn Syrup in its soft drinks yet?
Anyway, where would they get Coca Cola without it ...Mexico? Coke or Pepsi Throwbacks? Those are intentionally bad tasting to teach people that corn syrup drinks are better. They are not anything like what Coke or Pepsi used to be like before the age of Corn Syrup.
@goldhunting - Uh not they are not worse tasting, if you believe that you've been fooled. It's about production cost. It's much cheaper to use HFCS than Sugar and I personally think the sugared version (in Mexican bottles) tastes better.
@geeker4history actually incorrect the whole reason its more expensive in the USA to use sugar is because there is a sugar tarrif on sugar imports hence meaning there is no free market competition with the domestic Sugar Company. Main reason number one USA has an embargo on CUba which is the bigest grower of sugar cane. If we allowed Cuba to seel us Sugar Cane the price of sugar would go down drastically.
Went to my 1st Jason's deli today ... I WONT be going back ... how on earth can they call themselves a "deli" when their staff doesn't know the difference between corned beef & pastrami
Yummy!! I cook like that everyday and who says you have to be rich to eat like that. I avoid eating HIGH CORN FRUCTOSE, DEXTROSE, and HYDROGENATED OILS. Just look at the ingredients everytime you buy and try to avoid those three hazards. You may think that everything contains atleast one of these ingredients but not all if you read the labels carefully and actually take the time. It's all about awareness.
You fail to mention that sugar (presumably used in place of HFCS) is often bleached with sulfur dioxide (to give it that pure white appearance out of the container) that has been linked to cancer. Is that natural? What about iodine in salt or fluoride in water. Wake up America! Nothing is purely natural in our food supply. And HFCS is just as bad as sugar is, it's all about proper portion sizes.
How fascinating that this video was posted on THE day that the Washington Post ran a story about mercury being found in high fructose corn syrup. I've just made a video on the subject. Please check it out:
Shout out to Jason's Deli from California. My family goes to the one in Riverside all of the time~ you guys rock! Would you please open a location in Pasadena/L.A., that would be great. I'll even help you scout out locations. :)
Fluoride can cause osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in both fluoride-treated male rats and boys under the age of 20 living in fluoridated areas. Osteosarcoma is a rare, but deadly, form of cancer that strikes primarily during the teenage years
See the Cancer section in the Health Effects Database at FluorideACTION . net for more info
@FluorideIsBad - not to mention the spiritual dumbing down fluoride causes by calcifying your pineal gland - stopping you from developing your innate psychic gifts of awareness which everyone is born with..
@FluorideIsBad If it's rare, then it would not constitute a need for increasing the restaurant's operating costs, thereby increasing the menu prices. Eliminating HFCS is a different story since it's addition to almost all foods in today's world has tripled the diabetes and obesity rates when they were high enough already.
I've never heard of Jasons Deli but after seeing this video I'm impressed. Rock on Jason! The standard American diet must change for the better and with folks like Jason making a difference others witll follow.
HFCS should be banned.

what oils do they use?
If it's unsaturated vegetable oil then it will be trans fat? Even olive oil is damaged during cooking
MSG is natural but in very small doses , problem is when it's isolated and used liberally.
How can you remove HFCS from your soft drinks ? This just seems wishful thinking
gledalac1979 2 years ago
@gledalac1979 We drink great soft drinks (sodas) by Hanson's all the time that have no HFCS. Google it
