All the people who posted and dissed Eugene Landy need to know something. If it wasn't for Landy, Brian would not be where he is today. Sure Landy misused his authority and milked Brian for what it was worth, BUT Landy did get Brian back on the road to recovery.
Anyway, I absolutely love this song. Such a great tune that has that classic Beach Boys sound to it. Brian's vocals were top notch on this track.
@twjr80 Landy also nearly killed Brian and caused him to have tardive dyskinesia which only made him worse. Yeah, I'm glad Brian is still around, but Landy was a total piece of trash only interested in keeping Brian alive for his own wallet, not for Brian's sake.
I LOVE Brain. But I'm DISGUSTED at how Landy and all those fools treated him like he was a cow to be rolled into the slaughterhouse to be made meat (music) out of. Thank God and EVERYONE who got Brian out of that disgusting mess. That was a great song that you wrote Brian, by the way :)
Considering he was locked up in Landyland, Brian's In My Car has a vintage Beach Boys fell to it. Knowing the circumstances makes this difficult to watch...

Although I am disgusted with landy and at the thought of how many drugs brian is loaded up on and the kind of emotional and mental THUGS that are surrounding him... its amazing how they just kinda wheel brian up to the piano and he is just with the piano... totally with the piano... not much else here for him.
I am not sleeping. Landy should have never even been needed in the first place. Mike Love and the rest of the people around Brian should have been less selfish, more loving, and more allowing of his creativity. Maybe you are right about landy, but its not to say there was not a better way to go about saving this mans life.
yeah, mostly known as LA to most fans...came out in 1979...mostly produced by Bruce Johnston and Curt Boetcher (sorry spelling sucks)...Brian submitted mostly old tunes but updated...first: Good Timmin' (from 1974-75?) with Carl on lead...Shortenin Bread from Adult Child era (1977), and Here Comes the Night, which Brian wrote in 1967 for the Wild Honey album, but Bruce thought it'd be a good idea to make a 10 min. disco version of...bad idea...even though i enjoy it.
Thanks for explaining. Sure there is much of the old BW-sound to be heard (riffs, but also harmonics, and harmonic changes), together with a "naive, rocking" style. I like this less than his more elaborate work from earlier periods. Eh, next question: The Light Album?
This and part two are probably the most revealing videos of Brian Wilson we'll ever se. Many, many thanks Evasuperstar, I love "In My Car," it's a great song, although a tad chilling as it was at the height of the Landy era and among the last new tracks released by Brian for a long time...
Amazing! Ultra rare I would say. "In My Car" is an underrated song IMO, probably because of the poor sound quality on the record. One of my favorite tracks from Brian's solo career.
It's a Wilson/Landy and Alexandra Morgan (Landy's girlfriend) co-written song for "Brain and Genius", like the other songs from Sweet Insanity, so even if there's vocals overdubs by Carl and Alan, we can call it a solo track with vocals participation, "Still Cruisin" was just a collection of new songs and oldies, the last real BBs album is the one from 1985 :) IMHO
Hey Brian Wilson my older sister and I wouldn't mind you getting in our car

@runnersdialzero33 Right on! Landy was a parasite and damaged Brian far more than he damaged himself.

Wake up! Don't you understand that if it weren't for Dr. Landy Brian would be dead? What's the matter with you?!

Brian's solo career?! The song is on the "Still Cruisin" album and features both Carl on the first chorus and Al on the second...
MorseMoose79 5 years ago
I know, but it was originally a solo track and Brian performed it solo during Beach Boys concerts in 1989.
