Voicing them was simply an act of good will from Raphael who voiced Kaidan's letter as a present to his fans on Thanksgiving Day in 2011 and later asked Kimberly to record Ashley's letter too because he was amazed and pleased by the feedback he had got after the audio version of Kaidan's letter was uploaded to the net.

The voice representation was kinda needed in the game anyway... it would be a nice detail from Bioware. They could have managed to do something like they did with the Arrival DLC and have kinda of holomessage recorded by Ash in your private quarters. I romanced Miranda and saved before jumping the Relay, after the romance scene and the achievmenet poped up in my screen... loaded the game again and rejected Miranda and stayed loyal to Ashley. I was excited knowing the she was back in ME3.
