Plans are to have demos of every kit. I just have to get help to do them. It's been super busy lately. Once I get a little time I plan to sit down and do some more.
I'm curious if something like this would still work if you did it to a Behringer Ultra Metal pedal. Supposedly they just ripped off the schematic, so would it be very different?
@ACadaver Probably but the Behringer pedal is SMT components so it's a little harder since they are small components. There are a lot of pedals that are clones of the MT-2 that this would work on. Rocktron Metal Planet, Johnson Distortion EQ, Moen Violent Metal, and the EH Metal Muff just to name a few.
This to my ears is the best mod out there it sounds much beefier so please don't take offence when the actual pedal is awful! Who were Boss aiming this at in the first place? The only way to get any workable sound out of it is to mod the hell out of it and maybe push a bass amp with it. If you use a DS1 before one it's like a poor man's HM2 but still lacking. All credit to you this mod's a great one.
Yes, you have to solder. If you don't want to solder, you can send your pedal in to get it modified or you can buy a pre-modified one. You can contact me directly through the website if have any questions about purchasing the kit, pre-modified pedal or having your pedal modified if you already have an MT-2.
does Griffin mods offer the service of me mailing in my stock Metal Zone pedal to have it modded for me? and if so, how much does this cost? for postage, I live in the Philly area.
I have both and I like this better than the Keeley but I am biased :) The Keeley mod is a pretty "basic" mod where this one is a little more involved. The best thing to do is listen to the sound clips of each and decide which one you like. It's all personal preference in the end!
cause i cant solder worth crap and like it said i the video i cannot hear myself so well in my band pisses me off so now im getting the boss heavy metal pedal and boss hyper metal pedal but where could i take it to mod it
There should be a link in the description of the video to Griffin Effects or you can just Google "Griffin Effects". I'd put a link in here for you but YouTube won't let me put a link in the reply.
You can send your pedal in to get it modified if you can't or don't want to do it. Use the "Contact Us" at the Griffin Effects website and I can answer all your questions and get you more details.
@GriffinEffects yea i just went to the site love it and im definatly getting one the only thing i wanna see acually hear is the different mods i cannot find any vidoes about the lead mod and not many on the double distortion mod for this pedal but i hve read that the death metal mod gives more clarity to your sound which is what i just heard you know any videos showing the three different mods?
hey i just got this pedal i dont have the modded one like you but id like to know what are ur settings for ur pedal im too blind to see them from here kinda blurry too. if you could tell me id greatly appreciate it.
It's the Griffin Effects MT-2 Death Metal Mod. You can purchase the kit or a pedal using the link in the description. We can also do it to your pedal for you if you don't solder.
Wow!!!! I wonder if that mod pedal will burn up electronic wise faster than the stock one? Sounds great i am getting one for sure, I am selling my Digitech gnx 3 today lol
Thank you! I feel it's a huge improvement over the stock pedal. A lot of people don't like the stock sound of the MT-2 so I wanted to change the sound of the pedal completely and remove the nasally/digital sound and make it more of a "natural" sounding distortion.
Dunno, not too impressed with the first tone, just sounded tastelessly distorted, like when you turn a cheap hifi system too loud... The second tone comparison was very impressive and the third was a little off for my liking... As for the first tone again, I wouldnt recommend it for a live situation...
Thank you. It's one of my favorite mods. It's pretty easy. It's just a lot of components to swap out. If you don't feel you can do it, you can always send your pedal in to have it done.
No problem at all. You can order it directly from the website or you can contact me through the website if you have any other questions or problems checking out. A website link is in the description of this video.
damn, that really sounded good!!!

When you purchase the mod kit, is there a manual that explain how to mod it? Like where to solder the new part and where?

@DimebagDarrellFan820
All the numbers are referring to o'clock positions like 3 is 3 o'clock and 12 is 12 o'clock.
Part 1: Level 12, High 12, Low 3, Middle 9, Freq 12, Dist 5 or Full.
Part 2: Level 12, High 12, Low 3, Middle 12, Freq 3, Dist 5 or Full.
Part 3: Level 10, High 12, Low 3, Middle 12, Freq 2, Dist 11.
When I used a stock MT-2, I used the settings in Part 1 a lot.
Hope that helps you out a little.
